Skybound's Journal

I hear ya. I wear hard shell knee pads at work quite a lot. Here’s a life-hack for at home - turn an old pair of sneakers around and kneel into the heel cups.
:thumb:

You a concrete finisher?

This wasn't that kind of knee pain, just general bending that's killing me from being so idle for so long, then when I try to do any physical tasks, everything hurts twice as much. I need more movement in my daily routine.

Oh man it all caught up with me recently. All the building work I do - contortions combined with heavy lifting, hammering, and bending over. Pushed it too far for too long and one day I started having insane back spasms- ended trapped on my floor for a day unable to move, screaming, later carted away by ambulance. I found out what level ten pain is. Man it was truly horrible. I could barely walk and was in sickening pain every day after for almost a couple months. - couldn’t drive for almost a month and I’m still recovering and only now getting back to regular work.

All I can say is- start finding out about stretching. Or this will all bite you in the ass eventually.
We need to stretch! I’d hate to have anyone else go through what I did.

Almost there. I just gotta poke a 4" hole in a wall for inlet air and I'll be gtg. Some more pics,

The start of a birds nest. Where those 3D boxes and spools are now has a heat may ready with my flipped over clone tote on it. I need to fashion a low watt light above and get the 3 lights on the same timer somehow.

About 3-4 of these will be ready to jump into some dirt real soon. Their age since rooting varies from early Sept to late Sept.

Here's both PCs. The one in soil is closest to the fan and seems to have stalled, plus hit a few deficiencies, but that's totally fine. Her little bit of soil is the worst mix I made, so when she pots up, she'll be so happy I think. The PC still in hydro is getting big quick. I wanted to push Em Dog through next week, but PC isn't giving me much of a chance, even though she's about a month younger than the Edog. Whatever, when the day comes, I'll have two great options for what might be my last hydro run, but we'll see what may come!

Highya Sky,

I love the construction project. Very nice work. So, you're upgrading to much better equipment. That's always fun with anticipation. I'm guessing you'll need a bigger tent soon for more grow room, lol. Seriously though, congrats on your upgrade and your diy initiative. Cheers

Thanks Bode. The new veg space is in preparation for the new bloom space I will build lickity split, or as soon as I get a few more doll-hairs. The new bloom now has a dedicated mini split AC and will measure 9' x 9' x 8' where I will have 9 plants, each in 10 gallons of an experimental soil intended to be very close in composition to Doc's brix kit. I feel very confident in the things I've learned this past year to make my own soil despite never having grown in soil yet, lol. So far, my test dummy (the above PC) is doing well enough to give me comfort and that confidence. I can't wait to get that 9x churning. Aside from finally making good on a promise I made Weaselcracker quite a few months ago, I also want to build a garage and start building a CNC business before someone around here beats me to it. Forward progress one foot in front of the other.

Your time is now, Sky! Go for it. Very exciting things to come. Cheers

It's definitely a breath of fresh air when compared to my previous veg space. In the old, I just has some plastic lining most of the walls, but not on floor or ceiling. This room is 100% encapsulated and sealed, plus more floor space, I will be able to have 4 stages of plants going at all times. As soon as I get these 3 biggies gone, I'll work to have clones in the dome, rooted in solo cups, mediums in 2 gallons of soil and 1 or two in 10 gallons of soil to get ready to head into bloom. It sounds good on paper anyways, lol.

this looks good sky it will be interesting to see how they switch over to soil I no I told you my son does that with some of my clones but he told me the larger they get the more difficult the transition was they made it but it was rocky for a bit just a little fyi bud! :)

Some years back, I transitioned a 1 gallon pot of rockwool cubes to Miracle Gro soil and the roots quickly set up shop. Unfortunately 2 weeks later I had to kill all of my plants due to a security breach. But the process was again repeated with the plant I now have in soil as it was started in a 20oz Solo cup of rockwool. FWIW, I'm intentionally starting them in rockwool to quickly establish roots into the media and grow some good vegetation before moving them to soil. I realize it's 2 different kinds of roots, but with only 9oz cup of rockwool, the roots won't be substantial enough to have any adverse effects down the line. My only concern would be having an empty space in the soil, but I'm near certain the soil will infiltrate the rockwool anyways as I see cubes working their way to the top of the soil now, so that tells me the cubes are spreading out into the soil and being replaced with soil fibers.

get the 3 lights on the same timer somehow.

I have a few power bar timers I like using. Unlike some of my other digital timers they’ve been good at carrying heavy loads and haven’t ever freaked out or burnt up on me, and having all the outlets is handy.

Knowing you were a welding instructor, I presume you're fairly knowledgeable in most, if not all trades as I am. If that is the case, I assure you a printer will become your best friend, such that you may even decide to put the missus out to pasture. That was a joke, but I wanted to add emphasis. I'll even put you old fellers down with another old guy on YouTube that's been tinkering with CNC machines for a few years, and he also built the same CNC machine I did, plus the next level CNC machine, all of which was first produced on a printer.

Gee Sky you are all in! I worked for GE 40 years ago on NC equipment. Repairing them in house for production aircraft parts. What controller do you have? I started with 8 hole tape for programming. Not me but engineering. We ran GE 1040's then century 2000, then ge/fenuc. Long ago
