Skybound's Journal

maybe you could wait a bit for the plants to get settled in that soil before you give more nutes!

That was the first nutes in about 2 weeks. The Glue faded, the Em Dog just started to fade and the other 3 didn't get to that point yet.

I probably shouldn't try to advise you im still learning myself but I remember my son saying the transition from rockwool to soil went a lot smoother from a solo cup than it did when I grew it in a 1 gal pot a larger plant he had some of the same problems your having so he stuck with the solo size good luck bud!

It's cool Sticky. I just failed to thoroughly explain the situation, but basically, I see cascading deficiencies, so I know it's time to start the feeding. The way the system is supposed to go is to feed with A, then water, then feed with B, then water, so the feeding only happens 50% of the time, and the major elements are split between the two feeds, so nothing is added in heavy quantity except for Ca, NO3 and half as much P. K and Mg are minimally added.

TBH, I've transitioned 1 gal of rockwool to dirt, 20 oz Solo cup of RW to dirt and 9oz Solo cup of RW to dirt, and it always transitions very easily and smoothly, I think because of the already robust root system. Hydro roots are thick and can carry a lot of readily available nutes which gives time for the finer lateral root hairs to grow as the microbes coax them out into the soil. I just need to ensure the microbes stay active down there and the roots should explode.

I think you should try cloning into rockwool, then vegging the first 2-3 weeks in rockwool, then pop the wall rooted clones into your super soil and see what happens. What's better is that you already have the Megacrop, and that's what I feed my clones, that with calmag only and it begins my PH perfectly for the week. That drifts up to about 6.2 in 3 days. I think you'll like it, being able to do a little fast growing for the first couple weeks in veg.

Gidday Sky. Love your work, man.

Subbed up old pal

Love your work too, LA.
Months before sorting out my growing environment I came across your fluxes.
Oh wow!
To say it was inspiring doesn’t do it justice.
50/50 credit between you and @SweetSue for my joining and participating here.
I use the tip spreading technique of yours to stack nodes tightly.
Getting my hand in with LST and training techniques - when I have enough of a buffer (ie: cured meds) I intend to try a flux.
Just want to say thanks for your work while I see you cruising around here, so ty.
Which of the links in your sig is current, LA?

Cheers Sky :yummy:

It's a pleasure to have you on brother! I'm in the process of switch to soil after all these years doin Capn style. Here's one of my last hydro plants, this is Em Dog minutes after a fish guts foliar spray. She's being fed a Megacrop emulation made from salts. 21 days into bloom.

How long you figure till you're moved to a new spot to get your grow back on? I wanna see another Death Star
grow!

A peak at the Pineapple Chunks, one in soil, the other in croutons. The hydro plant has a massive trunk at the base and will yield very well. The soil PC began to have P or S deficiency in the red streaking, but the tops all suggest that it has been abated. These are from the same batch of cuttings and did everything together, potting up and go into bloom, but the soil plant, despite my shortcomings in prepping the soil, is still holding her own and looking good overall. 8 days in bloom so far.

I just dropped 4 beans (2 ea) into some seed sandwiches, put them into ziplocks, and into the heated clone dome with plain RO soaked paper towels. It would be rad if all 4 germed.

GL with the seeds. I do mine on a china plate paper towel and covered with plastic wrap... Placed on the cable box or top of PC tower.. I keep temps at around mid 80's.. Too hot and you'll just get popcorn..

GL sorry, I haven't been out much lately.. Sometimes it's hard to get this damn walker kickstarted.... Getting better,, some I'll get to use the electric starter...

I've been hearing for years about putting the seed sammy on a router or small low heat electrical device, but like most houses in the outdated northeast of the country, it gets way too drafty in the cooler months to be confident in things like that. I've cooked seeds on my heatmat before, but inside that clone dome is my best bet to maintain a favorable temp in that seed sammy. FWIW, I got the mat timed for 15on/45off during the day light and 15on/30off during the night. Also, there's a ply of bath towel below the dome, then another 2 plies of bath towel above holding the sammies even a little higher. It's a really weird process, but I've cultivated the skill throughout the years, mostly to restrict myself from letting them get too warm.

Both Ayahuasca Purples germed, both GSC's germed and all 3 PC clones rooted in 11 days. Hopefully all 4 will stand up out of the RW starter cubes, but as soon as they give me 2 clones off each, I want start more beans and get my selection widened some.

Edit - the beans didn't germ in 11 days, they germed in about 36-40 hours.
