Skybound's Journal

Shipping killed me too. I just bit the bullet and assumed the near one time cost to get enough amendment to amend roughly 10-20 bales which IMO can be construed as a lifetime supply. FWIW, the cost of the products @ Custom Hydro is dirt cheap and they have almost everything needed in one place, it just seemed the very best option for me. Also note, that most of these products are chems which require all sorts of safety precautions to transport and as such some of the shipping boxes have placards stickered on the sides of the boxes which alone will substantially increase shipping costs. If you're not in the lower 48, you might be able to find the SM-MP on Amazon and maybe skirt the insane shipping costs, otherwise you might be able to find a garden center in your country that can help.

I suggest you hold off for the winter to see how I fare in my grow with these products. This way you can save up, and if my studies lead me down a safe path, I will compile a BOM that I used with weights and measures of each, then you can decide if it's worth your time to get all or part of the things I'm using. IMO, the destination is what's most important, not the path we each take to get there.
im going to be watching to! :)

FWIW, I am highly confident. I even re-amended the first batch with the SM-MP and some kelp meal. I figure it being already cooked, the new adds will fit right in and in short time w/o upsetting the balance at all as the MP is not readily available and will need microbes to liberate which buys the roots time to grow and consume.

HERE's a link to all of my grower designs. The printed halo above is an updated design so if you have access to a printer, LMK and I'll update the design to include the revision that has the barb pointed up at a 45º angle.
Thank You now to find someone who has a 3D printer.

They start at about $150 ....., Just throwing that out there to see how it marinates. IMO, my printer, despite only being a $200 jobby is hands down the best tool I've ever purchased in my life, EVER! I've already printed another printer and a CNC router, the latter of which is already assembled and tested.

That is something I would Love to get down the road. I am still trying to get the rest of what I need to grow indoors, Tent Carbon filter and a couple fans. There is one at the library which is not too far about a half hour or 45 minute drive. It is available to the public you just have to pay for material and I think a small fee, a few dollars. will the link you shared of the printed part work with any 3D printer ? I did some CAD in my apprenticeship but that was over 30 years ago so I cant remember how to use it and I am sure a lot has changed. Plus having CRS, or Cant Remember Shit disease Lol :surf:

No shit? That's when I learned CAD software, from inside a penitentiary I took a crash coarse drafting class. 3mos manually drawing and 3mos with AutoCAD 98. What I use now is MUCH different. Yes, the link to my Thingiverse page lists all of my designs. If you click on the Hydro Halo for instance, it contains one or more files that will work with any printer, but there is another piece of software that is needed to translate the 3 dimensions of the CAD file into machine movements and various other settings. That software is called a "slicer". When 3D printing, the CAD image must be "sliced" into hundreds of layers, each with a slightly unique pattern that together will produce whatever the CAD image is. The library should have a qualified operator to take your (my) CAD file, load it up into the slicer and then assign the appropriate print settings to apply, and once you click the Slice button, it converts the CAD image mixed with the slicer settings and plots out the printer movements and temps and outputs a Gcode file. Gcode is the computer language that all CNC machines read and execute.

If you buy a printer, you'll need to learn how to use a slicer app. Most of them are free, but a couple cost an arm and a leg. It's a necessary evil to use a 3D printer, but when you can print off endless useful things, you realize it's worth the hassle of learning.

I think your going to grow some killer bud and its going to be fun watching I already have a seat! :)

Can print of useless endful things is in my path. lol I'm high AF

:passitleft:

When I design things while HAF, I usually end up printing about a dozen iterations before I dial in my tolerances. I feel like I'm running a marathon with only 3 left feet. But it sure is fun though and that's not a bad consolation prize.

Despite being a month and a half younger, this Pineapple Chunk that I put in the first batch of soil has already grew taller than both the Em Dogs, but also the other PC that is still hydro, but is the same age. Things are looking great already.

that em dog is a hog!

She has very good node spacing, but veg's slow. First round in bloom didn't do so hot, but that was in the NH4 wave that seemed to kill my weights across the board for about 5 harvests. I've since did away with NH4 in hydro, at least more than what was in my CalNite. The smoke, taste and smell are all top notch, but her weight wasn't what I originally thought.

I only plan to stay in hydro till them 3 hydro plants each finish, then it's soil from then onward. I won't veg as long and will try to root more cuttings to keep up the demand for a one week turnout. As I get to playing around with them sativas I've been afraid of for years, that one week turnout will likely increase to 1.5 weeks. Still, plenty to work with and when them shitty low weight chops come up, I won't get killed for the interim periods.

From what I remember it was chem leaning. Definitely nice smoke

Is the Chem lineage similar or same as the Sour lineage, do you know? I've only smoke Sour D a few times, but love it's piney undertones. Em Dog IMO tastes like that mixed with pineapple juice.

lol im getting closer to growing it I like those flavors especially the sour and anything with chem in it tends to be good smoke ive got a copper chem going rite now that's mostly chem hope its a female I grew 4 last year and got one nanner filled female but the smoke was up and giggly so that was a fun high so I thought I would give another try!
