Skybound's Journal

hey sky I checked out that cheese wow nice one very good about the pc this is my first grow of one of these ive got a friend that grew one outdoors last summer ill post a pic and I really liked it so I got some seeds his finished early the end of sept. I liked that feature so mine doesn't look anything like his or most of the ones ive seen but that being said I like to harvest a little earlier than most trying to keep the high up as possible I think most people would have let it go another week or more mine still has some clear trichs and a small amt. of dark I will say it was always hungary don't no if that helps!

heres a pic of the outdoor pc this was planted late not till june!

:)

Yeah, it was helpful. I was just looking for some assurance and advice about grow characteristics of this strain. On Weezy's journal, the consensus seems to be 10-12 weeks to finish, and if that's the case, I gotta bail on this strain. I like a head high too so like early finishers, but most other people I guess want to feel like they're shooting dope when they hit the blunt and want to get physically crushed which I downright detest. My oldest PC is short, wide and sturdy so I hope I get an strong Indica pheno. I can dedicate 9 weeks comfortably, but beyond that really challenges my patience and thin budget. Here's a pic of my oldest PC. from yesterday, maybe the day before. Seeing as PC has a good amount of Cheese and Skunk mixed in, I compare it to the Triple Cheese you've seen above, and also from the same breeder. The TC stacked up and filled out fast as all hell, and aside from the spaghetti branches, was a phenominal strain, but that one problem made her to be an instant nightmare. PC isn't as fast of a grower as TC, that's for sure, but if the smoke is a little tastier, the high more potent (for the patients) and the yield the same or better I'll take the trade off only if the finish time is just a few more days than that 9 weeks, but if it's 10 or more, I gotta bail on it.

My state might be going green soon, but we're still at least a half year out at least, if at all. I'd love to take my hydro outdoors in summer months and get the best of both worlds. The style I grow would be just fine un-aerated and warm nute water.

Here's my last TC for a while. I doubt she'll do as well as the last one I took down a few weeks ago, but on this gal, I still see a pound more or less. I know where I went wrong and will apply the lesson to the PC and hit her hard with P even to mild toxicity. So far the PC looks like she wants more P, even though I already give her the max I gave to TC, but this is just my first round and have one cut from each of my PCs in veg as well as another TC. Sadly the TC is the biggest in veg, so I'll likely put in another TC as soon as I take this one out to give my PC veg cuts a few more weeks to build up, then run both of them.

This TC is at 55 days and I just started a flush. I doubt flush is even needed as I kept the ppm meter at about 700 which is pretty mild and all the leaves look evenly green, maybe a tad high on N.

This is the super leggy PC. 1,000,006 branches, all super thin. I'll likely be ditching this PC and just clone out the other.

How do you like the cob's brother? I just got QB's recently and almost went with cob's. Planning on getting some more LEDs soon for flower tent

TBH, I wish I went QBs too, but that might just be because I don't have them. My drivers are a bit much and I fear if I drive harder than 75%, I'll burn out the COBs. As is, the heat sinks border between extremely warm to down right hot to the touch. The light penetrates deep into the canopy like HPS, but there are shadows which I understand the QBs don't produce. Plus also, those stretchy branches that get close to the fixture are susceptible to fox tailing which is i't's own set of problems. Pros and cons with each (COB/QB) I'm sure.

Thanks for the info. I'm same, second guessing them just because I don't have them. Lol. Timers cob's sure do look badass. I'd love to have some dedicated to flower. I'll probably just get more QB's because I'm getting comfortable with the one I have. I have 4k's that I'm planning on leaving in veg tent

Drive-by

I too like the faster flowering strains.. BUT we do grow for personal stash,, mainly,, and if a strain I like takes that extra 2-3 weeks... Much better to have a jar full of stash'''''

than 20% more of passable herbs. But I do understand the need of turn over.

And there are ALOT of 'stash' quality 9 weekers out there...... Looking good over here Sky''''

I got a 65 watt 4k QB in veg and I'm not a fan of it till late veg. I'm not one for measuring PPFD, PAR, photons and all of the other means one can know exactly how much we get from out LEDs, but just general observation I think the 4k's don't do well until late veg. I'd like to get another 65 watter, but I'd like it to be in the 6500k temp for cuttings and early veg as I've always had pretty vigorous growth with the bluer light. I did note that I get tighter node spacing from the 4k which is plus when prepping a monster for bloom as I can fill out the canopy nicely and also pre-trim all the lower bullshit off which then translates into a lot less stress after the stretch about 21 days into bloom, still though, I miss the vigor in early and mid veg,

Woody, it's not a drive by if you stop to chat a little, lol. I only like the faster finishers b/c of the turn over as it's my bread and butter at the moment. I actually don't really enjoy the Indica highs at all. If I smoke all day every day, over time I can build my tolerance to the point where I can tolerate the stronger body stone, but it's not at all what I prefer. If I were growing for my preferences, I'd be into them 12 week strains that you grow out by the pool, but we're not green yet so I gotta wait till then. Plus I'm in a city, so even then I doubt I'd be able to pull an outdoor off w/o getting robbed frequently. Thankfully we're a MMJ state now and I have plenty pf people that already have their card, so I can have someone add to their order. A pal just gave me a little Jack Herer Vjuice and fuckin love that shit. It's the high I been searching for all my life, plus tastes great, so I'll be getting some of that very soon! He tells me it's actually a concoction of several strains, but whatever, I'm hooked. A nice head only high and nothing on my body.

Whats up Sky

I run COBs the Vero29 like you in VEG and flower.

In VEG I have a 3K COB and a 4K QB 300w version. I run the COB in VEG @ 3/4 throttle and the QB full bore.

I get big plants in VEG - too big a lot of times for my flower setup.

Only training I do is trim the LAF and bamboo at 4 corners and wire up the skirt when needed.

Try some extra silica on that lanky PC - go over board with it. She'll toughen up. You won't be able to hurt plant with too much silica. I like Pro-tekt.

I was watching a Dude-grows show interview with the pres of Dyna-gro they make the Pro-tekt. He said folks use 2 tbs per gal ro water with no ill effect. I've never gone that far lol. try it.

I'll have to look it up and load their numbers into HydroBuddy to see what kinda PPM you're talkin about b/c I use silica at about 25ppm now which is on par with GH. Also, when going that high with silica, you also get a lot of potassium which isn't always a bad thing, but it is a thing to consider.

I use Pro-tekt @ 1 tsp per gal and add in a silica tea I make from Horsetail fern. I foiler it on most of the time weekly. I never checked my ppm's so cant say what it is but with Pro-tekt and HT tea - there's a lot of silica. Also have a ton in my soil mix as well.

The dude from Dyna gro said you cant hurt a plant with too much silica.

Potassium may be an issue - I know Pro-tekt has some in there. I never worried about it but I'm in soil.

1 TSP = 4.9 grams and is 47.2ppm of silica and 39.7ppm of potassium. I saw a video once stating silica sprays are great for foliar as the elevated PH makes for a very poor environment for PM. I have my ppm for silica at 25 now, anything above that and my res PH becomes difficult to manage.

your tc looks good nice fat colas I love watching you hydro guys blow those girls up good job sky!

I just dropped another TC a few hours ago. She didn't do as well as the previous. Next is Pineapple for 2 rounds, then another cheese. This cheese grows so vigorously that she smoked both PC cuts in veg that I had to put her up to bat again. PC grows like molasses, haha.
