Shiggityflip - Follow The Yellow Brix Road With The Perfect Sun 1000

Hey Sue, I have been doing daily Greek yogurt smoothies (6 cultures) with a few tablespoons of flaxseed meal for the omega 3s. Do you think that's enough?

And be sure to eat 3 cups of Epsoms per day. Your arms will hang a little straighter and won't curl up as much. :cheesygrinsmiley:

No, that's not enough. So few of the probiotics make it through the stomach that it's like you didn't send any in. Antibiotics cause systemic damage and destroy the gut flora. That may well be what caused the depression. The ECS modulates the emotional tone as well as all your other systems, and yours was working overtime when the tooth went bad. It's why the tooth went bad.

50 billion cultures per. I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. 50 billion cultures. Don't fool around here. The gut flora health will determine your systemic health because the gut is beautifully equipped to spread inflammation through your entire body and inflammation brings disease with it.

So I am moving up to another level of focus. I am going from being a light consumer to a light producer (for myself and a local shop). My first build is an ambitious one. I am DIYing my own light based primarily on 4K Samsung lm561c diodes which will run at over 60% efficiency (in comparison to an hps which runs at under 40% efficiency). I am supplanting the 4K diodes with 40 photo red Cree xpe diodes (660nm), and also with far red spots (730nm). This light will cover a 4x4 as evenly as possible with about 1000ppfd across.

The samsungs are on a flat board called a sunboard240 that will house 240diodes and run like a giant cob. These boards will run at 75w each without any additional heatsink! Right now I have constructed the frame of the light and it is 43" wide. So when I say it will cover a 4x4 it wil LITERALLY cover a 4x4! I intentionally left out the center board to eliminate the hot spot we always see in the center with a point style light such as an hps or CMH. In total the sunboard240s will run at a total of 600 watts and the xpes will run at 66w for a total of 666 watts. But the photon output will be a little more than a 1000w and I can run the lights at 12-18" above the canopy.

Here is a picture of what I have so far...what do you all think?

I will be interested to see what it looks like finished and to see how it performs. I dont understand all of the tech talk when it comes to the light but if it covers a 4x4 area and out performs about as well as 1000 watt hps while only putting out 666 watts then that is a win in my book. If you dont mind me asking about what is it going to cost you to build it? Where is this light going to end up and what light or lights is it taking the place of?

As for Dynasty Genetics I am liking what i am seeing so far. I have a huckleberry kush v3 in a 1 gallon pot that has been in there quite a while and is still one of the healthiest I have had in veg. Unfortunately I think it is a male. My Pineapple Fields is just starting to flower and i am liking the looks of her so far. I also have a Harliquin x ms universe going that I am just going to call Ms Quin. She came out with 3 cotyledons and then one of her early sets of leaves had a finger that was 2 that were conjoined. Since then all the leaves have normalized and I am really liking the structure.I look forward to watching all you have in the works unfold.

Wow! What a sweet-looking panel. I know just enough about spectrum to get excited. How expensive was this to put together, if I may be so bold?

Nothing your brilliance inspires surprises me. :battingeyelashes:  Hiw lucky are we to have you in the neighborhood.

It'd be nice someday to see one in a size that would accomodate a smaller tent. I'm restricted to 2x2 tents for the stealthy quality. Hard to hide a 4x4 in a small bedroom. :laughtwo:

The call of the cannabis cultivator

MORE LIGHT!!!

Dang Shigs that's so over my head and pay grade.

I'm still figuring out how much to water.

It'll be fun watching this come together.

It will take a spot right now inhabited by a 315w CMH, but the eventual spot will be over a 4x4 I am building. I am making some 4x8s that will house two of these light arrays and eventually will have all their color channels linked to a controller that will allow me to set time and intensity for each one. So white, blue, red, far red, UV will eventually all be added but for now just the 660nm red. For the frame and the white panels plus drivers (ballasts) it will cost me @$670 US. Adding in the supplemental red light will cost me @$240. So somewhere in the range of $900.

I'm glad you got some Dynastygenetics you will love them. Interested in how the harlequin cross comes out! And the huck kush is kind of an American landrace hybrid, the coming together of two famous PNW strains. The Oregon afghani and the Oregon Huckleberry. It's not to be missed!

Sue I am going to do a smaller build of 3 panels that would be 215w with a dimmer. Would be great in a 2x2. That one will cost me like $250 to put together. Or a two panel 150w build would cost me about $200.

I will be glad to have ya. To learn more lingo go to Growmau5 on the tube and watch his intro to DIY vids. He explains everything really well!

wow!! I think its going to be amazing!!

So......I got the drivers mounted and the first four lights wired. And WOW yay yay YAY!!!! It works! Still have the other half to wire and all the Cree photo red monks. Should be finished on Monday, weekends are for the lady. But here a few pics to whet your appetite. One at minimum and one turned all the way up.

Now that's some light! I'm liking the build.

That isn't too bad for an led setup that will give you that kind of coverage without being on a mover. I'm a little on the tight side when it cones to spending money. I have been thinking about getting a cmh or two but haven't seen anyone use them in their grow to know if they are worth it. What are your thoughts of replacing a 600 watt how with one? I have two in an 8x4 and have wanted to over time switch it to 3 of the chm lights but don't know if it's worth it.

I am really hoping the Huckleberry is a female but I don't think it is. I have more seeds I just don't know when I will get to drop them. I can't wait to see how ms Quinn come out either. I may take pictures at some point to show you her. I have a few harli x blue heron seeds I can drop at some point as well.

Ahhhh!...your renewed focus..and a new venture!...:thumb:...looking very nice!...just transitioning to LED's and I must say...have 2 450 COB's...(manufacturer...not DIY)they sure take the blurple away from the other full spectrum LED's...cheerz...h00k... :Hookah:

Yeti I think the CMH lights are fantastic. I have 5 in the grow room right now, 4 eshines, and my perfect sun 1000. The CMH lights make the plants happy. 3 in a 4x8 would be pretty sweet! I am pretty much doing that with 3 of them right now. It is the foreground of these next three pictures. There are also two CMH bordering my perfect sun in the center of the back row.

Of course I can tell up close. Lots of leaves with browned interveinal tissue which can mean root issues or pH swings. Still they have done their best for me and some girls have outdone themselves showing more trichs than I have ever seen them put out. There is also this new girl BOGSeeds sour bubble whom is singlehandedly stealing the show. In the top picture of the one you just quoted she is the one on the bottom of the frame. Here is a closeup!
