Shadowman's First Grow

Welcome all, addressing the phosphorus deficiency, I had some Schultz's Bloom nutes- 10-54-10 on hand so I mixed up a gal. 1/4 tsp bloom nutes to 1gal distilled water and fed both plants 2cups. I had just watered 2 days earlier so I didn't want to water anymore than needed and I figured I could give them more a couple of days later if needed. I saw an immediate change (1st 24 hrs) for the better. I'm due to water again within 2 or 3 days and will give them another dose. I have some leaf deformity due to the phosphorus deficiency but the spots and curling(claw) has stopped and I've removed the effected leaves. I also topped Little Frankenstein. I'll post some new pics in a day or 2. Thanks for coming by and "Keep The Green Side Up!"

:welcome: Here are a couple of update pics just after lights came on this morning. My Little Frankenstein has a slight nitrogen def. (white spots) on a few fan leaves, I'm hoping the Bloom+ nutes will take care of it.

Looking awesome for sure. Nice and green.. You are going to have a very nice bushy plant there with the way you got her tied down. Buds buds and more buds..

A wise grower once told me: Top and Tie and you'll double your bud production, I listened and learned. Thanks Professor! :thumb:
Thanks for the +reps my friend, I appreciate your support! :rocker:

Lil Frankenstein and Medijuana both looking good :thumb:

Medijuana looks like she has as nice start on growing fat and happy :)

Hey Radogast, good to see you again, after another node or two, I'm going to top the side branches. I figure on vegging another 4 weeks or so and want to get as many bud sites as possible. Thanks for coming by.

I come by a lot, but I don't say much. What do I know about growing?

I topped my girls once on the leader, but didn't go for a "Bush of many buds" by topping the side branches.
Is this a technique you recommend? If so how do you decide when to top again, every 4 nodes?

I'm looking at a 2 month minimum veg on up to 12 clones (some might be set aside as mothers.)
I figured I should try the full "fluxing" treatment ala Light Addict on at least two.
I assumed I would top all of them at least once at the 4th node.
I assumed I will tie most of them, if only to stretch side branches to allow side branches of side branches to get more light.
I can try multiply topping to go mega-bushy.

If I can somehow get a feel for how to slow and thicken a branch while not stopping it's growth, I can picture more things to try.

Any suggestions?

Hey Radogast, Great questions! I'd say you know as much if not More than I do about growing. I waited for the 4th node on the main stem to top but I don't necessarily think you have to only top every 4th node. I studied the plant and tried to envision where I thought it would be as far as growth when I flip to flower and where I wanted it to be. I decided the side branches had enough growth to top, so, I topped her 2nd lowest 2 side branches, when the other side branches get another node, or maybe 2, I'll top them. By that time, I'll probably top the 2 main stems that I topped first. My situation is that I need the meds, this first grow isn't going to be what I will typically will do in future grows as far as veg time so I'm expediting the process. As far as thickening the branches, I keep a fan on them 24/7, not directly on them but there is constant plant movement. I also am keeping my lights as close as possible without burning. I'm JAFR(just another f'ing rookie) but I figure that I'll give it a try and if it works, great, if not as long as it doesn't kill it, no harm done. Anyway, that's my take on it.

Hello and Welcome to my humble grow everyone, I have an update. Last night just before lights went out I topped 2 side branches on Medijuana and first thing this morning just after lights came on I trimmed all the lowest growth around the main stalk on both Medijuana and Little Frankenstein. I'll let y'all be the judge as to how it turned out but I think it will benefit new growth.

I plan on topping the other side branches after they get another node and by that time I'll look at topping the two main branches up top again. At that point I'll see where I'm at, I want to harvest in September and I'm looking at 7-9 weeks of flowering/bud production.
:thanks: for stopping by, if you think I've done something wrong or my overall plan is flawed, don't be shy, let me know what you think.

Shadowman,

You have taken instruction really well, if I didn't know, I'd think I was on one of Light Addict's journals. She's looking great and I think your gonna have a fruitful harvest.

I was wondering, what kind of %'s does the Medijuana have, meaning CBD and THC. You are growing for the same reason I am, for the meds so I was curious what kind of a punch she packed? I'm thinking of doing a White Widow grow so I'm looking at different strains to try with limited space.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Chinnubie, Medijuana should come in around 25% THC, I don't pay any attention to CBD %. The breeder said Medijuana isn't for the beginner smoker lol.

I like the new shape of Medijuana. LF looking good too :)

Thanks Radogast, I like her new shape also, I just came from your journal and I'm excited for you now that you're in flower and some buds are forming. I'm looking forward to some bud porn. Keep up the great job!

All the training on your plants look outstanding. They are looking green and happy. Just stopping by getting caught up. Keep it green

Thanks Professor, I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by my humble/modest grow, it means a lot to me when those that have, "Been there, Done that", still find the time to help us beginners and check back to see that everything is going good.
I think the best way I can show my gratitude and appreciation to those that help me is to put the knowledge in action and produce the best results possible. I thank you my friend! I would have been lost without all you accomplished growers help! "Keep The Green Side Up"

Welcome one and all. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what's new with my 1st grow. I had family come to visit from out of town this weekend and had to water and make sure my babies were looked after since I wouldn't be checking in on them for 2 days while I had house guests. They got back on the road early this morning and here are some update pics I took just after the lights came on this morning. I am very pleased with recent growth and overall health.

Their root systems are growing nicely, I've increased the amount of water+nutes when feeding them from 32oz every 5-6 days to 40oz with less run-off. I still need to stop in the local hydro shop and pick up a liquid ph meter so I can test my run-off. I'll be doing that later today or first thing Monday. I'm starting to see the benefits of using cfl side lighting and will be raising the T5 overhead light today a couple of clicks. I'm going to be topping my 2 new main stalks again within 7-10 days. I'm just waiting for 1 more node growth. I'll be doing some additional LST and tying as well. Thank you again and I appreciate your interest in my growing efforts. "Keep The Green Side Up"
