I hope so :) I'm feeding more properly this time around so let's see if I get even better results. a couple other notes: I'm running out of vertical space and serious 6 #2 has real branching. hallelujah!

Nice yard b.real :thumb: catching up now.

vertical space? NoProblem, FLUX!! you'll be a great fluxer, b.real. with no vertical worries, problem solved.

but they may not finish as fast as you like. great work shared in here :circle-of-love:

I took some measurements and I think I can run an led panel depending on how close to the ceiling I can hang it. how close do you guys think I can hang it while still allowing for proper ventilation? I could also point the fan at or above the unit to help dissipate the heat. I don't want to get an led panel just to burn it out.

I think I'll be able to fit plants under an led panel easily with some low stress training.

I'm no LED expert by any means, But the common issue's I've been seeing are more about the light intensity than the heat. Seems anything closer than 24 inches on the 3 watt varieties causes problems for vegging/seedlings. But in flowering they are getting them pretty close with no issues.

For veg you can do at 18" easy, maybe closer. My Top Led 48*3w reflector panel was at 15" and leaves started looking wrinkled, raised to 18" and looking good, don't plan on lovering till budding starts.

the plants would probably reach around 6" away from the panel. I could always get shorter containers as well. I would probably remove the topmost fan leaves to allow more light to reach the rest of the plant. cronichemphog's plants are basically touching his led light and they're fine. maybe yours got crispy because of the reflector feature?

if I were to get a light it would either be the top led 100 x 3 watt or a znet4. does anyone have other recommendations around that price?

can someone place a thermometer on top of their led light and let me know how hot it gets? thanks.

If you got a 96x3 reflector you can use it in veg mode which will be less intense for young plants & save on energy bills.

I'm at lights out but the heat is hardly noticeable. I could lick my Mars II 400w all over, it doesn't get hot & that's 5w diodes. I'd say your cfl's will put out more heat

sweet. yeah it's like 100f in there by end of 12 hour cycle so I took out a bulb LOL. that's at 240 watts of fluor now at 217 watts.

I just don't want to fry the unit cause the exhaust is against the ceiling you know? I pray the plants won't be toast that would stink, but how does an led need to be 18" away? that's crazy. hids are more powerful and can be closer? please do temp reading at the end of the cycle would be great :helpsmilie:

You will definitely see a drop in temps with LED compared with cfl
I've only got my room thermometer but I'll lay it on it's back on the top of the light for you.
I'd say if you had 2" clearance above it & a fan circulating the air at the top, you'd be ok.
I don't understand myself why they need to be so far away but they do. You might be able to get 1w closer but I've never looked into them.

thanks man. by the way, your plants look great and the pictures of the led unit are cool. eager to see what kinda flowers they make. you have the reflector led and no other lights like side cfls?

been smoking these nasty ass "slow burning" papers. when I first pulled them out I thought they were gonna be good cause they looked thin. terrible taste. burns terribly too, joint actually dies.

I have top colas within a couple inches of the ZNET and haven't seen any problems.

Nice looking plants

Flower or Veg?

Hi b.real I checked my temps this morning & the thermometer on top of my Mars 400w was 12 degrees hotter than the bottom of my grow room. Hope this helps :)

The lights I have are Mars 400w full spectrum, Mars 400w flower spectrum, 96x3 reflector & a twin 55w cfl with hood I use for seedlings. I've also got my old 600w HPS & ballast but I have no plans on using it in the future if the LED's do me proud.
