Re: 420 Consumer Reports - Seed Madness Medical Grow by The Butcher

:wood: hey y'all :) I'm back !! So long story short I had a PC issue that caused me to be offline for the last couple weeks. All is good now, trust me it was better safe then sorry to be offline till all was sorted out. All is sorted out and The Butcher is up and running & in full force once again :yahoo:

Update:

The room is up and running along with the beans being sprouted. I will post pict's of each strain rather then all the sprouts. Trust me when I say its going to be one hell of task choosing one out of each strain for the grow. All is good though. The strongest of the bunch (((hands down))) is the MK Ultra. With a perfect 10 of 10 sprouting and each and everyone going strong. I can truly see why it was the winner of the 2003 Cannabis Cup. Unfortunately, I was only able to get 9 out of the 12 choices, but its all good. I made it an even 10 by adding a Double Kush to the mix. This will be the first time growing the strain, so you will see and be just as surprised as me when the plant is finished. So without further adieu heres the sprouts :

Thats whats going on for now. They have sprouted and putting on the second set of leafs. Now that this has happen, they will be removed from the Hydroton Clay Pebbles and put into a DWC mini system for some root therapy. In my experience this is the best and fastest way to develop a strong root system. After the forth or fifth set of leafs appear I will move them onto a bigger system where they will further their growth till they are ready to be put into their final resting place. At this point they will go into individual 5 gallon buckets and be catered to. Each strain tolerance is different and will need to be babied their entire life. Can't wait for that day, that when the fun (& work) begins. :yahoo: Till then we will be patiently waiting and watching as our ladies grow up into teens. :)

Good to have you back Butch! I got a front row seat for da show!

Glad to be back :cheertwo:

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have a couple ladies in the flowering room for the trail run.

This run will allow me to get all the kinks worked out before the whole lot goes in.

I'll post those ladies here to help keep everyone entertained with some great flowering bud porn.

The 2 strains are 96' Bubba Kush (great color and frostiness) & My own Black Mist (Black Widow x Super Silver Haze x Kali Mist). :blunt:

Should be a fun grow to watch, nothing like a little variety. Or a lot of variety for that matter.:thumb:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - Seed Madness Medical Grow by The Butcher

man i dont know how i missed this one? you have some very very good strains growing, you are very lucky. let me know how that sour D is? i am thinking of growing that on my next grow or either some sour grapes. never grown either of them so dont know how the yield is? but smoke them lots before and their both great.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - Seed Madness Medical Grow by The Butcher

:yahoo:...Wohoo and were off and running. I'm very much looking forward to this one Butcher! This should clear up a lot of my unsolved mysteries.

Plus my seed choice's made it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - Seed Madness Medical Grow by The Butcher

How do you sprout your seeds Butch?

Is there a plug or a RW cube under the hydroton?

This is going to be a lot fun, and also very helpful as far as selecting future strains.

Sometimes, when you're looking for this kind of info, you don't know if the results or yield were affected by the grower's experience, but that won't be the case here.

I'm going to give as much detail as I can. In my last journal some, I didn't as much as I will here. This will be very detailed, plus I'm going to be sure and let everyone know when Seedmadness has sales. Hopefully, they will have some on the chosen strains. If so, then it can be a great opportunity for everyone to get the strains. If not then maybe after or around harvest they will. Which I think would be a great time to acquire the souvenir strains. This is just a thought at this point though, as time get closer or goes on we'll see. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on whats going with sales and new strains the carry. :ganjamon:

Short anwer: Its soil under the hydroton :ganjamon:

Detailed answer:

For the sprouting I will post pict's of how I do it. Here are the details first though.

So as just about everyone know my mentor "Oldman" taught me some old-school way of doing things. This is the way I was taught to germ my beans. I first use the paper towel method. Which is the fallowing:

1. Wet a paper towel.
2. Drop the bean into the paper towel and close it up in a zip-lock bag. DO NOT seal it up with all the oxygen out. If you do do so, then it will get the bean to moist and it may not sprout fully. Some do and some don't. Fresh seeds pop right out within a couple days. And I mean all the way out of the beans shell.
3. At this point when the sprout is fully out of its shell I drop it in a fresh mix of soil till the root growth is very apparent. Usually about 4-7 days depending on the strength of the sprout.
4. Once a root system has been established and the second set of leafs are out, then I (((VERY CAREFULLY))) remove the seedling out of the soil*(for how-to on the removal of the sprout I will add the details with picts in my future post) and place it in a neoprene insert, last place it in a mini DWC system for optimal root development.
5. After I have chosen exactly what I want to do with the seedling, thats when it goes into the final resting place.

This sounds like allot of work (and it is), but Oldman taught me it this way and I have yet to lose a sprout using this method. If I was going to use soil then I would just leave it in the soil with clay pebbles as the top layer. This top layer helps keep light away and keeps the bugs down to a minimum. With the lack of light getting to the surface even with a hot room, the soil stays cool. This cool soil keeps the environment from becoming a prime spot for the breeding of bugs, gnat's or what have you.
