Second Grow Ever!

Yes. In ten. The plants are huge and I just can’t seem to sort it out. I won’t do a feed until next week and when I do I’m wondering if I just too dress with the Gaia green power bloom for the PE . And not sure what to use in my BD. That’s starting to show signs of the cal/ mag also.

I gave the BD fox farms 1/2 dose grow big
Hey Lisa you should be giving your nutrients at full strength.
Plain water next time.
Full strength next time.
And dry dry dry dryer in-between.

Ok Bill, thank u. I will give plain water next watering. I have a moisture probe so I know for sure it’s dry dry. Then full strength next watering.. gotcha!

I have been using it all along. I didn’t want to over dose them. And at first it was great I went on vacation and came back and it got worse and here I am.
Put cal mag in first , wait 15 minutes.
Then add your nutrients one at a time as per the schedule that comes with them.
Full strength.
Then set ph to 6.4
Then feed.
Water
Feed
Water
Feed
Dry dry dry dry in-between.
Seriously dry dry.
They will bounce back.

Don't use the meter they are inaccurate.
Similar to those little rh meters we use.
Ever put 4 of them in a jar together and all will be different.
Learn how to read the plant but in the meantime lift the pot and wait until it's really really light.

Your plants are getting pretty big, so they may be depleting the stored up nutrients. I've read the bags have enough in them for 2-3 months of growth, and you're likely on the tail end of that?

The color, as you mentioned, is a lighter green than you'd like which is why I think they are hungry. And, with an organic grow, the idea is to provide everything that could possibly be needed and then add the microbes and let the plant ask the microbes for what it wants at that particular time.

Trying to add amendments to an organic grow to treat on specific issue often leads to more problems. So, a good mix of organics in the nutrients you supply and making sure you have enough microbes goes a long way to a healthy plant. Good fresh worm castings can supply the additional microbes and I don't think you realy can add too much of them, so adding worm castings as a top dress may help, especially if the soil or the added nutrients you are giving have whatever the plant is asking for.

I am taking your advice. Thank you. I’ll keep you up to date on this. I’m sure they will bounce back you helped me last time.
Thanks Bill!:cool::green_heart:

Question- when and how often should you add cal mag?
I thought I read where it is added infrequently, and only if the leaves show deficiency (ie yellowish - brown spotting).

What would happen if you add too much?

I second this question of "what would happen if you add to much?"

Hey @GratefulBud hope you are having a good day my friend.
What are you growing in ?
Cal mag helps your lady uptake her other nutrients when mixed in properly.
If your in coco you need it every feeding.
If your in soil you might get a bit of tip burn if you really over do it.

Thanks Bill!

I too will be growing in FF soil. I’ll be blending HF and OF. I did not add any cal mag on the last grow as I thought FFOF had adequate cal / mag. Perhaps I was wrong.

Like I said coco every day.
"Soil" some has enough some needs more especially in flower when they are really calling for nutrients.
It helps with uptake of other nutrients and soil is hard to burn a girl if you F,W,F,W,F,W.
So if your feeding full nutrients and everything is fine then you probably don't need it.
But if she starts going south it's handy to have it ready to go.
Do you use potassium silicate?
I love it in coco but would be helpful in soil aswell.

Hi Bill!

As always - I appreciate your insight.
Last grow I used FF Coco Loco blended with Ocean Forest. About 60% OF. I figured the coco would help with water retention, and the OF would provide plenty of nutes early. After a few weeks I started feeding with FF Trio per their schedule. Seemed to go well all through flower and harvest. I had a few minor issues but ended up with some good flower. Outdoors where it gets HOT!

This grow I am shooting for better quality.

It's great for outdoor girls aswell, helps on those really hot days.
I'd try it. :thumb:
