Scotty’s 1st Promix Grow

A slurry test is testing the soil after it’s been sitting in water for a day. And straining it out right?
but my containers have been in said contact with water for more then that. A lot more.
So idk I like to think I am already conducting the slurry test XD
As it might be runoff, in your eyes and it might be.
but to me, it is a dual purpose of checking runoff, watering the plant. And maintaining moisture throughout the medium through osmosis and wicking of the plant and soil. With the benefits of not having to dry out the soil Between waterings. Also since the roots are in it. Wouldn’t it be called a reservoir now, as I haven’t dumped excess run off in a while. Just had it sit there. Ph down and add more nutrient water when ec is low.
I was taking a walk sometime and noticed some parts of the ground are wet outside and others are not. And it hasn’t rained for like a week.
And the thought that it’s because being up north we have a thing called permafrost. Which is a layer of permanent frost underground all year round. So there is water underground all year round.
and the thought struck me that a lot of these plants I am seeing are being watered through wicking. And rain helps replenish the groundwater for plants XD.
So I am trying to recreate that environment at home now for my garden XD and as you can see, it hasn’t killed my plants yet XD

Ps damn mr s kudos on your early bird comment. :goodjob:

i went ahead and edited in yesterday’s ph an ec.
the ph of the run off/reservoir is 6.1 and ec is 1098.

The runoff/res. Where I got the test sample from this morning.
As you recall yesterday I ph downed to 5.9 and it has rose to 6.1 and ec I will try to take note of next time. But I believe it fell also. (By about 100 points.)
It also appears that the two plants together drank the 10 cups of water I added yesterday.
will add more bio tea to my nutrient solution tomorrow before watering again.
I believe the spraying of leaves helps facilitate the plants respiration and is showing in the plants drinking the ten cups of water I added yesterday in about a day. I mist the leaves. And let dry then mist them again.

No not at all. It's testing it at anytime. Shed just did his and found out he was over 7 in his Promix. We were trying to understand why he had an issue and it kept coming back to pH in the media. He did the test and now is making the adjustment.
Scroll down 'til you see the Slurry Test method as there are a few on there. You don't have to do it I just wanted to point out the correct information and methods.

Okay thank you mr S.
so as I was making more bio tea and more Mc water this morning amongst other things like testing the nutrient water once again.
032AB9CE-8EE5-4103-B712-7D83C1BB9E51.jpeg
heres the black bio tea. And nutrient water.
55111878-7FA9-4878-9D81-5E91C1BD0D59.jpeg
so after making the tea I watered down the soil plants with it and tested run off again. Here.
44523A2E-2AF6-4354-A381-451FD676FF19.jpeg
As you can see the ph actually rose. So I collected the water from the res, and ph downed again to 5.9 and watered them down again And here it is.
43827B8E-5C11-427F-9487-8B75264626C0.jpeg
As it rose again. I am going to keep watering to the soil collect the same water ph it down and run it through the soil again till it drops to whatever level I feel is right for them XD or until I lose my patience. Will report back later today or tomorrow

Okay so after 3 hour of watering them and ph down the water again to 5.9 who knows how many times lol. (Lost track)
Immediately thought of earlier this year of me trying to precharge promix. So I guess I had some training earlier this year, so it was pretty easy just time consuming. Each time I water them that 2.5 gallons each. The run off would slightly lower. Then I would lower it again back to 5.9 and repeat lolo_O
Good thing I love my plants. Or I’d just sit there and watch them die like I have in the passed not knowing why it was lol.
here is where I called it quits today XD
AC747181-D5A4-4856-9A94-D1F656F504D6.jpeg

So it’s dropped considerably more to growing ranges I guess. Idk. From what I’ve read 6.3 should be fine right for soil?
I was going to try for 5.8/9 but damn that would be another three hours the way I was doing it so no thanks maybe next watering I’ll bring it down to. 6.1 maybe.
when I am more prepared :headbanger:
Also reminder there being a hole here a few weeks ago

and here it is today
BA243F74-DD04-4BF7-A277-DA32E0566BB3.jpeg
it has closed the gap. Remarkable.
Eh I am drained of plant stuff for today. So imma smoke and idk go do me for a bit XD
And Remember to
Love thy plant!
It Was probably considered for a place as A commandment But was narrowly beat by love thy neighbors instead XD.

Yeah, if the buffer has been all used up. I’m guessing it’s going to rise and fall a bit more like hydro now. But I did add that bio stuff and it says it initially raises Soil ph. (And like a whole point higher I observed on top of my high ph tap water once mixed with Mc.)
For me. I am kinda wondering if that had something to do with it.
it says once the microbes take hold they should start lowering the soils ph and maintaining it. But idk.
ive only seen it raise my ph so far so I am kinda doubtful XD
I hope the product proves me wrong

I am not like the rest of them.
I chose a different route.
we’re all heading in the same direction.
I am just seeing if I can get there a lil faster then the rest.

Hello all sorry for the late post. My Personal life sometimes just has to happen no matter how much I try to avoid it XD.
but I think I’ve taken care of it for now.
So some things that I have been considering over the past week or two let’s say since last update.
1) I may be moving my grow area.
But not to far just a different area of the house.
2) I need to find a way to cut the cost of electricity for growing these beauty’s. A 200 watt light bulb 12 hours a day is a lil over 100 a month in these parts... :,( and my second non sponsor crap light be coming in next week if it don’t get lost.
3)this promix 5 gallon sitting in nutrient water still hasn’t killed my plantsXD. Contrary to popular belief. Some plants sitting in water over time develops into root rot. Appears to be slightly untrue. As these roots have been in water for like over two weeks now... sooo..
Explain these roots and why they haven’t rotted yet after like two weeks pls XD.
image.jpg

Also some leaves were acting funny.
image.jpg

image.jpg

lol if you ask me. It’s a deficiency or lock out .
So to deal with it on Friday I set out. To probe around a bit and find out what the plant is trying to tell me. I filled a bucket with plain ph downed tap water.
then scooped out the nutrient water by hand.
and then flushed the medium with the plain ph tap water and tested that run off.
The run off came out to 6.2 and ec was at 990 so I called it good. I tested the nutrient water that was scooped out and it was like 1600.
so I am guessing that my assessment of nutrient lock out might have been the culprit. As the discoloring has been contained to4 fan leaves...
image.jpg

as to reducing electrical costs. I have looked no further then this fine feature of the house. This southward facing window that gets sunlight from like 12-6 ish idk something like that. But the days are getting shorter. So. Yeah.
I’m thinking of making something to hang my grow lights off of by that window so I can supplement them with proper lighting a couple hours in the morning. And a couple hours at night. And off from noon till about 6 ish XD.
mans back on at night to ensure they get them solid 12 hour of light XD.
I expect my nugs won’t be as frosty but if it helps saving on electrical so be it.
I also am thinking I will macgiver a grow tent out of Mylar sheeting and a sewing machine I thinks XD. Gonna channel my inner Cinderella and try making myself a tent for these plants. Let’s see if I can make it work fer less.
image.jpg

this plant I harvested last month has revenged I guess. I will call her donkey kick cause shekicks like one.
image.jpg
The kuze has been up potted.
image.jpg

The blue dream smelling along nicely.
image.jpg

the Girl Scout cookies. Powering through lol. Not smelling. Theblue dream got that fragrance. Not this one she’s got he stretch. And leaves. Lol she like a model...
I may have to pop more seeds soon...

to be continued....
Thank you all for your growing knowledge and honesty of growing techniques.
Your work is appreciated.

Oh I forgot the large male. Still Taking up space XD.
image.jpg

I believe his curly leaves are a combination of nute lockout. Over watered. And lack of proper lighting now. But. He’s a male. So he’s tough. He should be fine. If not we’ll. To bad. I’m not here to grow males XD. He’s more for just carbon fixing the atmosphere for now lol.

After a good smoke sesh. I was lookin at that plant and couldn’t help but worry that the discoloring was the first stages of root rot.
So. If it does. I would like to have it known. That I might have noticed these signs. But chose to barrel through.
Ive gone this long, might as well see how long it goes. I wouldn’t want to go back to watering large containers XD. I’d very much like to water and monitor it the way I have been so far.
But that’s if my lil grow op is working the way I think I want it To XD.
this watering, without over watering mantra is haunting me.
Ugh. I think I hit the dab rig to hard this evening XD.
good night. I will leave with this photo
29D3C600-B45C-4A90-B8BD-15249E2D2D67.jpeg

I couldn’t stop laughing once I saw this I thought

dope. Got 3 hbo channels XD.

Okay morning folks. So I thought I’d go a lil more in depth with this mornings update. Mainly focusing on the female birthday cake kush. Here
image.jpg

So I have been letting her grow doin her own thing. Not topping no trimming. Just a lot of super cropping, bending and leaf tucking so far. at first I would go around bending and super cropping like once a week or so. But now. I’ve been doing it like 2 or three times a week.
I did some bending this morning. No super cropping. And if I did. Those were accidental.
Okay so on to the next photo here. Starting from the base.
image.jpg
so if you look at the photo you can observe how it is nice and straight. As I let her grow into the light a bit before I started training her. (Pokémon theme introXD..
I want to be the very best, like no one ever was... to train them is my cause!!!)
I super cropped the top and then pushed the side shoots away from the main stem. So the leaves are exposed to light while maintaining a level canopy. With all the other shoots. So that basically meant tying down the plant or bending of stems down like every week. But once the branch got thicker. I decided to try super cropping it. And went a lil to far. But it survived.
image.jpg

It actually made training a lil easier her is her top
image.jpg
as i said I went through and bend all the tops down by bending and gently squeezing the stems with my ez super cropper tool. I swear you guys need one. Makes it so much easier. Once you learn how to use it. When I start bending tips and tips down. I like to start from the bottom up. That means the lowest branches like that one above is the one I start with. Then make my way up slowly and systematically nudge each branch down lower or horizontally as I do not have any need for vertical growth yet. I try to keep everything flat and outward if not downward XD.
image.jpg
This branch is above previous branch. And this is its top.
image.jpg

After that branch I go around and work this branch.
image.jpg
And it’s top.
image.jpg
So I basically try to have it grow like it’s in a scrog but without using an actual scrog net.
image.jpg
Once I make my way up to the main cola.
I start going back down each branch gently seeing if they can be judged further apart or down. And call it good enough. Now that I’ve bent and woven and spread this plant out this morning. I’m guessing I will have to go back and do this idk maybe in another week. But thought id share a bit more on how I shaped this plant here into a shrub ;)
image.jpg

A lazy update. So I watered the plants again today. And this is there run off here.
D1DD6A04-4359-4D42-BE85-4F7897DBEF89.jpeg

Late night update closed.
Edit.
Plants haven’t been given any supplemental led lighting just sun light for the past week from there windows.
The c99 looks to me it is showing early signs of flower.
Still bending and pinching stems a once or twice a week.
Very sleepy good night folks,
