Scott's First Journal

Good morning scott hope your having a good day my friend.
Personally I like to wait a bit longer.
I'd give her some more time to get her feet in that pot and growing a bit better.
Looks like some has been removed already?

Stay safe
Bill
Good morning Bill. All the wanted removal has been done. Nodes 1 & 2 were done a, I think, last Sunday and Monday, 5 & 6 were none Yesterday and day before. The latter was for the purpose of cloning the top.

If you are watering on a schedule, that could be (problably is) your problem. Your plant is also showing early signs of nutrient deficiencies which could also be root related. You need to let the roots dry out to let them get some oxygen. If you don't, they can develop root rot and are then unable to feed the plant, and the whole grow goes downhill fast (ask me how I know :p)

Happy's advice of weighing the pots to help determine when to water is gold. He compares them to an unwatered container with the same amount, but dry, mix in it. Another way is to let the plant get dry enough that the leaves begin to wilt (calm down @Krissi1982 we're not talking about draughting just yet ;)) and then weigh the pot. Keep a record for each pot you do since they will all be slightly different. Then water them fully and then not again until the weight gets to maybe 5% above the weight it was when you saw droop. That way you'll be sure that it has drained most of the water in the pot.

To help you learn about watering a cannabis plant, @Emilya has a great primer on how to properly water a potted plant that is well worth the read.

I agree with the others to let her recover first as clones always take best when cut from a healthy mother.
Great answers and lol at droughting. Read that article yesterday and read Emilya's article just recently. Both were well written. I just wasn't sure if I should have left the roots to up into dry soil.
Oh well " live and learn" and "c'est la vie"!

In the future, you can just leave those leaves on the plant until you make the cutting. I do it as part of cleaning up, and scraping the stem just before I stick it.

That's a valid concern as you do not want to expose roots, especially new roots, to dry soil on up-pot.

A good process is to make your up-pot mix, water it, and then take handfuls and squeeze out as much water as you can, leaving it as moist as a wrung out sponge. Then fill your new, larger container.

That way, the roots are exposed to moist, not wet, soil and can then go explore for water at their own pace.

Once you do it a few time you'll learn what that soil moisture feels like, but it is a good way to learn at first.

LMFAO! That makes total sense!!. Why worry about stressing the mother at cutting nodes 5&6 when I am decapitating her above node 4. It's like asking for some tylenol before going to the guillotine. :rip:o_OI smoke wayyy to much cannabis FFS! :lot-o-toke:

Hahaha at the krissi part

Agreed ,think of the leaves as solar panels....if you start removing them all your doing is removing food and energy supply...I don't remove unless necessary.

Heres a link to a comparison I did a while back on HID vs LED. I used quantum boards with Samsung diodes in the LED's.

@Jon and @StoneOtter were having a discussion about lighting in Stone's thread regarding a light he just got. Maybe they'll weigh in with some thoughrt

Hey Azi and @scottreid1966 , I run a @Mars Hydro TSL2000. It grows wonderfully! Nice and strong and now easily varied intensity.(mines an older one with manual dual dimming) It flowers my 3 x 3 perfectly! Haven't run the other however it sounds good too.

Heard that one before

Don't forget your 420 discount! Make sure it is applied!
I did and they didn't. Been on live chat for 20 minutes waiting for a response. Was supposed to get an extra %10 Canadian discount and only showing a discount of $7.99. Took your advice and buying the MarsTSL2000. Tks

Thanks! Its the one I am looking at to buy.

I'm sure they will take care of you. Their main system is down for updates today with @Mars Hydro so I'm sure things are just taking a little longer!

Thanks for the inquiry. Just 1 in the queue and still no response. At least the sale doesn't end today. lol

OMG!OMG!OMG! (insert panicky emoticon here).
Woke up yesterday to a girl in pain. Soil was still very damp, and only 67 degrees: 1st photo
Up-potted in my usual and slightly larger pot in hopes to help dry . #2
Lifted the platform a few feet off the ground ( was a pain in my back and probably colder on the ground).
As of now (#3). No improvements so I'm gonna stick a dome on it and cross my fingers unless you suggest otherwise. Worse comes to worse I can try to save the top.
I am heart-broken having gained so much knowledge and then killing my only lady.
I've got 10 Cafe Racers due in on Tuesday. I hope I can get at least 4 for my outside grow. Ideally 7 so I can start my perpetual grow indoors.

Do you have a heat mat to put under the pot.
Get some heat in there.
Hut 67 is about 19c so that's not bad.
What did the temp bottom out at?
Must have got a lot colder than that to cripple her so bad.

Stay safe

"Houston, we have a problem."

Ok, that's not good. Let's retrace your steps and see if we can diagnose the issue. It seemed to go south pretty quickly, so hopefully there's an equally quick fix. Something changed. We just have to try to figure out what that was.

- the new, larger pot. Any changes to soil make up? Did you water it, then squeeze out the excess water and then repot? Any new nutes or anything in the soil or the water you wetted it with?

- what did the roots look like when you took it out of the old container?

- how wet was the soil in the old container? If you squeeze a handful, does water come out?

- the environment. You say 67*. Not great, but not necessarily a disaster. Do you have a seedling mat or a radiator or something you can put it on to see if low temps are the issue? Ideally you want to be mid 70*-mid 80*'s. And it's more important for the roots to be at the right temps.

- did you change lighting to a much brighter light or outdoor lighting? How about wind or air movement?

Putting it in a misted dome for a few hours will help tell if it's a water issue. So spray the dome. DO NOT spray the leaves as you don't want to add mold and fungus to your issues. And no bright light, but rather a nice ambient light. So maybe near a window but not direct sunlight.

If it perks up then we can go from there.

So, answer the questions and tell us anything else you think it could possible be. You're looking for what changed in the last few days.

Good luck. I know how disappointing it can be to be faced with a deteriorating plant.
