Sauga's First WW Indoor Grow, LED Style

Hiya Smee, I have a lot of respect for you, so thanks for your input. After reading your post I kinda took a step back and went through some of my posts, mostly this journal, to see what I have learned and overlooked.
I lost my patience and the ability to listen to my girls. I feel I have to intervene with them and that's inexperience. This being my first grow I don't know what to look for, what to expect, and of course what to do when things go awry.
It's time to get back to the basics, as you said, KISS, and let the girls take over. So, off with the nutes, on with the mist and we'll see how we go from here.
Once again, thanks!
Hello Mr Sauga and Mr Smeegol, after doing some more excellent reading I don't feel alone anymore. I have come to notice it seems that all of us begginers want to rush. If not for these seasoned growers stepping up and politely showing us the way, by now I would have probably killed my very young girls with kindness.
My point is, thank you all who have traveled this road before us and make sure we don't fall off. Green Day's to everyone and thanks again you 'Green Knights'!

So true, and it took me a while to get over that hump. I say hump because all of a sudden it hits you and you realize everything you are doing is right and the girls will do their thang, when they are ready.

Well said John! Well said.

I love weekends. I get to spend so much time with the girls. So much I actually named all four. Wilma, Emily, Edna, and Denise. A few pics so I can stare at them. Don't mind me. I'm Canadian, it's what we do.

Ya know Mr Sauga, maybe I should give name's to my girls. Maybe they will grow better with a little extra kindness. Whatcha think?

It can't hurt. Mine are still growing with the new names. I used an acronym to remind me of the names. The first letter in each name, will spell out WEED, hence Wilma, Emily, Edna, and Denise

Oh it's tea time

brewing up some compost tea. I found a great way on the net to do this wilout bubblers or excess mess. Real simple and doesn't need to brew for a couple of days.

First, get your compost, I put mine in a large mixing bowl.

Have your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend, give you a pair of their worst pantyhose and cut the legs off about 3/4 of the way from the bottom. Fill each leg up with one large bowl of crumbly compost.

Fill your 5gal bucket with rain water, if you have it, or whatever water you are using. Place the tea bags in the bucket and tie them up so they are suspended off the bottom of the bucket.

Gently work the compost bag with your hands in the water to allow the nutrients and microbes to escape. Mix it a few times withing the hour to keep oxygen fresh and within two hours it should be plenty ready. Throw the tea mixture back into the compost or your garden.

Enjoy the afternoon watering the girls.

Some pics to keep me happy. It's good to look back and see the growth.
My pH came down a bit with the CT over the weekend. It's still running on the high side of 7 but yet the plants don't seem to mind. The one girl seems to have a slow upward growth and wants to keep growing big ass leaves. A couple of 7 pointers starting now.
I added about an inch of worm castings to the top of each plant yesterday and worked into the top 1-2 inches of soil. I'm not adding any nutes as I don't think they need it. I'm in no hurry and they grow daily. I started to really pull the manifolds open to try and spread them out a bit. I don't think I was rough enough with the girls earlier and maybe the reason why so bushy.
They'll get another drink of tea soon and I think the compost I'm working on is starting to get a bit more acidic since I added a bunch of leaves. This will be my last shot of getting the pH to drop before going to vinegar/water solution. It turns out Alfalfa Meal costs the same as a bucket of that Fried Chicken we all love so we'll not be going that route this grow.

good morning mr.S, beautiful guide to making compost tea, spot on as its great for new visitors who are too shy to ask about it. Girls are looking great, so can I choose between chicken and alfalfa meal or can I have both....

Try your local co op and see if they have alfalfa bales ( square ones ) if they do you can hammer mill it if you have any farmer friends as a 200g bag of alfalfa meal is more expensive than the bale...in South Africa I mean...lol

Have an awsome day ya hear...

Hi Smeegs,
I pass by a few farms daily and one day I will look into this. Soo many things to try and learn and remember. One opf the things I like about you is that you're always thinking outside the box. I never thought to knock on the local farmers door.
:thanks:

Quadlining 101
OK so I've been reading the QuadGod's thread (@Asesino85) on quadlining and am going to give this a try. I topped to the fourth today and removed everything under the third. So two plants quad and two just scrog. I'm hoping QuadGod will be able to guide me as I make mistakes as I haven't done scrog either. So to put the quadline in and scrog it too should be a real fast learning experience.
If you happen to pop in once in a while Ase let me know how I'm doing. I would appreciate it. I'll be following your journal to a tee so hopefully things will look like what you would expect to see. I'll post some pics later tonight with the two topped girls.
Let the fun begin.

Just start pulling node 4 down to 3. A little at a time. Your looking to keep things at a constant level in height.

I follow anyone who is willing to try my methods. I want to make sure it's done right so people can see the benefit. I will for sure be here to answer any questions and keep a watchful eye. I'm glad you feel like it's something you want to try and I still get excited every time a new person tries quadlining. You've got some great people that quadline already too so you should have everything you could possibly need to succeed. I'm sure I can answer questions about your scrog as well but I don't have a routine like I do with quadlining. It's a lot by feel which comes with growing experience.

Totally dig the #quadsquad in the signature. Welcome to the club!

OK good, let me update the pics in a couple of hours. I not sure if it may be too soon to start bringing down but once you see them you will know. Thanks Derby.
