Sam's Fall & Winter Grow 2018

Plants are progressing along. I did a pretty heavy defoil after the last time I took pictures and they bounced right back. I pulled them out of the tent to readjust the tie downs.

The Amnesia is trying. It's just slow. All the others are chugging away. I need to thin out some of the branches on some of the plants going forward. I also ned to get the big tent set up and move these gals over to their final home. I have just had too much going on around here lately. :peace:

Thanks Newty. This method is keeping them a lot shorter and compact than I am used to. I plan on veging them for a while hoping I can get that little amnesia plant going a bit more. I already know she is going to be sitting on a booster seat post stretch in flower. I am used to having my plants around door knob height when finished. With this method you could take advantage of a larger pot to get the mains out further.

I need to get the bigger tent out. The outside leaves are getting their tips bent over when I shut the tent and the walls pull in they get a little squashed.

Looking good, man. My AH looks like it will be ready to switch any day.

Don't be afraid to pluck her, she can take it. I'm finding an extreme difference between lopping every fan leaf that blocks or physically interferes with other growth and then some, as opposed to a more ginger approach. Plants that I keep 'high and tight' have extremely close node spacing (nothing greater than an inch and she's nearing flower) and all growth is equal. It slows the plant down. The other, the branches have stretched seeking light, making the internodes up to better than a third longer in almost every case. Look at the mess in my avatar for a good example. Two branches side by side, one's twice as advanced as the other and the only difference is one was shaded. Most were shaded, at some point and the nodes there are further apart than ones that weren't shaded as much. The two AH clones I have side by side I left the upper leaves and clipped the lower, opposite my normal method of starting at the top and working down, and the one with 4 fans at the top had less growth the whole length of the stem than the other that I only left two sun shades on. The latter shows twice the growth of the former, but it's thicker not longer if that makes sense. I think it's in a vid I posted in my garden where I lopped the offenders and showed the difference. I can see by the node spacing exactly when I let it go even a day too long before pruning. That one day of extra shade increased the node spacing by at least 1/4" as compared to each node that wasn't so affected.

Hope this doesn't come across as me trying to tell you what to do, my last intention. Just giving my observations. And it applies to all the strains I've got going. 'When in doubt, rip it out!' is my new motto.

I remove fans every 2-3 days. I just usually don't take pictures of post butch moments. They will get some more defoilation tomorrow. If you keep stripping too much off it slows them down too much. I see it more of a balancing act. I am waiting to remove nodes until i get a better idea on what the potential those nodes have. My goals are an even as i can get canopy before the flip.

Quads looking great Sam !

I did another major defoliation and added more tie downs while adjusting the existing ones. The pictures don't do justice to the amount that I took off. I really need to get my big tent set up. I will try to do that this weekend because when they leaf out they take up this 2.5 x 2.5.

Trim pile.

Freshly trimmed and tied down. The little Amnesia (lower right) is trying to catch up. She is doing better than I originally thought she would. Kinda missed with that one tie down on the Amnesia..... LOL I will fix that tonight. I was in a hurry as always.

Looking great! Love that #crisscrossapplesauce

What did you do with your leaves?

Garbage disposal. You will probably kill me for that one but I have more than enough bud than I can use. I will save the final trim with the sugar leaves for ether hash or oil. I would like to make some capsules for a more discreet longer lasting high when the need calls for it.

I got the big tent set up and everything moved over. They are happy they have some elbow room to grow now. We will have to see how they like the big light. I will keep an eye on them. I did leave it raised up a bit for now. I checked the little tent for fit on the DWC bucket and made sure things are going to work. I do not have the headroom in there that I would like but I will rig up a way to get the lights up higher. It will be ok for most of the grow. I just want the room in case the White Widow stretches a lot. Last but not least I dropped a WW bean in to soak for the night.

Girls loving the new digs. Doesn't even look like I chopped them yesterday.

Testing out the bucket. I need o plan the air line routing and clean the tent up but it's basically ready to go with little effort.

Dropped the White Widow in water for a 24 hour soak to start the ball rolling.

Nice recovery on the quads and loads o'bubbles in that bucket! :thumb: in those tents.

Thanks. I was pretty pleased with how things are shaping up for the DWC. Now I just need to go slow and not kill anything.

The plants are going nuts. I need to keep on top of them a little more often now that they are in under the big light and have some more room to spread. They were getting squished against the sides of the other tent when the fans got larger. They wont have that problem now.

I’m late but I’m here lol, I may have missed it but how do you plan on sprouting your seedling, Rockwool, rooter plug?.✌️

I have both plugs and rockwool here. I didn't have very good luck with the rooters last time but I may give them another shot. I have used rockwool in the past with really good success but it can hold too much moisture and in a hydroponic environment I think that may hard to control. I have a day or so to figure that one out but am leaning toward the rapid rooters.

I may try rockwool next run but I kinda like starting them in coco like I did this time. I was nervous as hell to wash all the coco from the roots but I just sat in a bowl of water and the coco just released from the roots no problem. The plant handle the transplant great also and had roots in the water in 2-3 days. I’ve talked to quite a few people that like to start in coco also.✌️

I like using coco for clones also, I buy little tiny solo cups from Walmart and they are only about the size of a shot glass. I fill cup with coco, cut clone and dip in rooting powder, then just stick in the little cup of coco and within 7-10 days roots. I cut 70 clones back in the summer for my outdoor grow and had almost 100% success using that method.✌️
