Rifleman's Roost Open 24/7: Perpetually Perplexed

Day 63 since first pistils on the six shooters, no amber to be seen. I have a broken stem bud drying for a test smoke. I hope it's good otherwise I'm going to be disappointed in them. Neither made even the minimum height quoted by the breeder, although close. Both are foxtailing and acting like anorexic teenagers by refusing to fatten up, and I'm not seeing a heavy harvest in my future. Unless I see a substantial amount of amber beforehand, chop day will be around Jan 28th (day 100).


The AU plants are getting some nice buds on them but don't expect them to be ready before the middle of February. At the rate the big girls are going the dark devils will be ready just three weeks later. Good thing too. I'll have time to get in one more grow before outdoor temperatures end my season. Plenty of time to decide what gets dropped next. :biglaugh:
 
I have about a dozen "free" seeds from Herbies that are marked "Afghani(reg)". Anyone grown the same? Journaled? I'd like to know what the specifics were; buzz? genetics? characteristics? I've got about seven weeks until I'll have my last four empty buckets of the season. Trying to souse out what to fill them with. :)

:rofl::rofl: Needs it huh ! I'm just anxious to get them out of the way now. I've got some Short Stuff and other surprise beans coming soon and I'm ready to start something new. :)

 
I have eight plants in buckets and darn near all of them were thirsty this morning. The Dark Devils had a water change Wednesday and #2,3,4 all took 4 qts today, #1 only needed 2.5qts. (there's always one oddball). The older blooming girls took 4qts each too... well the AUs did. The SSs are slowing down their Intake as they get closer. Neither of them needed enough to bother mixing and topping off. :)

Lights come back on the DDs later this evening. I'll update heights then.

I started three once and managed to get a female out of the group. I don't think you want to follow that fiasco in my journal. I will tell you that it was great smoke for an indica. An easy grow, by all measures other than my inexperience and mismanagement. The patient I gave it to was pleased with the pain relief and sleep assistance it offered him.

He gave most of it back to me and I found it pleasant enough. It's an indica, so It wasn't meeting my primary needs at the time. :laughtwo:

You would have much better results than I did, I'm sure. :battingeyelashes:
 
I'm sure you probably have a smoke report on the DDs somewhere in all this thread, but could you remind me how it was? Planning on starting two of them between now and the end of February.

Thanks for sharing Sue. I'm trying to decide what to drop next. Doesn't look like the Afghani beans are going to be it.

Put my old memory cells on the spot why dontcha. Smooth, spicy, with a slight back bite. Didn't smell like *normal* cannabis when burnt. Good energetic high. Ask me again after the current crop is dried as this is all from memory and I ate much more of it than I smoked. :biglaugh:

That's right old boy, gotta keep dem dar brain cells a firing, just like yer ole Winchester. I was hoping you were going to tell me it was a like a shot of heavy indica moonshine. I gots so much stuff that will keep you up all night it's crying shame. :rofl: I needs me some decent night time meds.

I might have to start baking like you and Sue, but edibles don't really get me there. Strange I know, but there are some of us out there. Last cookies I made were 50mg each and I ate four of them with no effect. A friend, who smokes when it's around, ate one and got a good buzz. His GF ate one and passed out for eight hours. :laughtwo: But me, I got nothing. Next cookies I'm making are going to be 100mg each and if I don't get a buzz from the first couple, screw it I will eat them all. :rofl:

It appears so. :) They aren't slowing down much either, about 1 to 1.25 inches each day. I noticed today as I added water that #3 is bleeding purple out to her leaves now. #4 won't be far behind.

1 & 2 haven't even begun to look like they are blooming except for the few pistils they have showing. They are at least two weeks behind the others in development. What's the point in growing four of the same thing if they aren't going to be homogeneous? <shrug> It's going to be a memorable season for sure. :biglaugh:

Boy, it'd be nice to be able to tell which seeds would turn out to be winners like 3 and 4, wouldn't it? Watching these helps me put my own grows in perspective. When I get back from Jamaica I think I might start a batch of them together and see what happens if they're all in the same soil, if not the same lights. That last batch I grew, every one looked different from the others. I could identify them in the jars at a glance.

It made my heart skip a beat to hear #3 is bleeding purple. :yahoo: Let the games begin!!! Lol!
 
Varying schedules are quite annoying, especially with autos. It makes us better at judging our plants needs but it alot of extra work. Which I know you don't shy away from however... So happy days! Great big dark devils coming up grand,

National holiday they say. Retired even. But nooooo, it's a busy day for this old man. :biglaugh: No problems, I'll keep y'all quiet with some cannaporn and another DDA height update. Finally 1 & 2 look like they are going to stretch. Still no purple on them and I'm not sure I want any. Might as well get as many different phenos documented as I can.
