It appears everything I grow foxtails at some point Sue. I don't understand why, my temps and humidity are all within acceptable standards. It doesn't seem to be limited to just sativa, OR indica, instead getting them both and the hybrids I've grown too. Looks kind of cool, dries quicker, fits in a bowl... but I'd still rather they wouldn't.
It doesn't matter to me what the cause is, but I always assumed it was an indicator that you were beyond the point of when the plant thought it was done but not yet to the time you choose to harvest. I once heard Pigeons refer to them as a last-ditch effort on the plant to get the pistils waaaay out there in hopes of carrying on the genetic line. Makes a kind of poetic sense to me.
What's not to like about a crispy little, bowl-filling foxtail? Why would you prefer they didn't do that?
God Lucas, you make me so proud I could burst!
Which one did you ponytail? #3 has a different structure going on, much more open. The color looks slightly different too, from these pictures. I understand how deceptive photos can be, but I've also grown enough of them myself that I spotted the difference right off.
Gosh, I love accelerated learning. That's one of the things we do really well around here. I can only grow so many, but I can come here and watch you grow more.
I forgot why I stopped. Lol!
Don't you love that moment about an hour or so after the brownie gets eaten when it slams into you like a locomotive?
Back to writing. Have a great day Rifleman.
I see some bacon and hash browns in my near future.
So, the ph drift issue.... in hempy I shoot for a ph drift configuration. If one peeks at the nutrient uptake charts, one sees that the uptake ranges for hydro fall around 5.8, but some very important bits fall off in that range. We generally increase Cal and Mag for these reasons. One can employ a drift method starting lower and drifting up into an thru various nutrient uptake ranges as the days pass between feedings.
I generally shoot for a starting point of 5.3. I was doing 5.5 for years, but I think 5.3 is doing better in my world. I'm on a 4 days feeding schedule and my PH will drift up to about 5.9 or 6 over the 4 days. Of course, your nutes in your world will be different, but you can test it by setting aside a touch of your mix before you feed a plant and test it's PH over time. You can try testing runoff, but I've really never seen anyone make any sense out of testing hempy runoff.... tho many have tried.
2cents. Probably a repetitive 2cents, but perhaps there are newbs afoot.
What... The... Hell ? Single digits temperatures ! This old man is not a happy camper. It's so cold that Roscoe wouldn't even walk out into the yard this morning. Instead he chose to piss on the leg of my rocking chair.
I'll check back with y'all later. It's water change day in the large tent, and I'm feeling like it might me a sausage, egg, biscuit & gravy kind of morning.

She's starting to take on color, now that she's getting a regular diet of CaliMag. I scared myself with this one. I'm beginning to get excited when I look at her now.
Dammit! My favorite breakfast and you guys let me sleep in. WTH Lucas??? At an earlier point in the month, before I spent all excess available funds on this obsessive gardening hobby we get lost in, that would've sent me to the local restaurant. I suppose my potentiated oatmeal will have to do today.
Hmmm...... I have some freezer hash, using Major PITA's method to explore. I have some silk that's 125 thread. Do you guys think that'd make a good sift, or should I invest in some decent screens before I attempt this? I decided it makes more sense in my closed environment to make dry sift hash and convert that to oil for medicinal applications. Waaaay less solvent fumes to contend with, way less time involved, and I can use the leftovers to kick up some brownies. Oooo..... Extra brownies for that moment when I'm feeling dangerously reckless.
Beautiful garden Rifleman.
Cheers.
