Rex's Perpetual Hydroponics, LED, 4x4 Tent Using TBC 10 Gal System: All Are Welcome, Come Learn & Help

It'll be interesting to see how they do under the 420h from NextLight from such a young age.
As long as you dont heat stress them, they seem to like it. Beware of them turning bonsai tho from that much light. My SSH refused to stretch till I raised my HPS a bunch :)

Well now that does make more sense, and is how I should have read it!

I actually have some 4000K and I'm not sure on the other color :nomo: T5s that I used to use. I used the T5s for everything from seedlings, to lettuce, to cucumbers ...and that's where I picked up on using those spectrums.
But that cheap little LED just always seems to do a incredible job that I just disconnected the T5s. Their still in place, but will probably stay disconnected for the foreseeable future.

It'll be interesting to see how they do under the 420h from NextLight from such a young age.
For example T5s are good for the first ~10 days. They can be set very close to plant, as some cheap led bulbs which gives you tighter node spacing when plant doesn’t stretch at all.

Yeah I saw that, quite stocky ladies, glad you got them to stretch!

Yup- T5s are great, I grew Kratky cucumbers under them in the winter, it was fun and surprising how large their roots can get. I'm all about getting them into their final homes as quickly as possible, less stressful for both them and me! :laughtwo:

Day 2

Cabinet temp: 26C avg
Cabinet RH%: ~75%
Previous PPM: Seed
Current PPM: 138
Adjusted PPM to: 138
PH: 5.9
Res temps: 21C
Water level: Level/Steady

Wappa Autoflower
Gorilla Glue Autoflower

So, they're both alive still, and beans continue to be popped, one cracked, then stopped. So...progress? :laughtwo:
In the next day or so a different strain will be popped, a feminized one, and the regs will be put off for now.
I prefer to try and keep them roughly the same age, it's hard enough balancing three different strains in one system personally and keeping them all happy.

The dehumidifier is up and running and the RH is at a better place now, and the seedlings seem to be happy. The NextLight 420h is keeping them happy, so I'm happy.
The buckets have some condensation showing on them, but that's to be expected with the chiller keeping the nutes nice and cool.

Look how cute.. they are so small still.
3 weeks down the road, boom, bush.

Crazy climate stuff you guys have to battle. I'm luck at my 45 - 60 rh area..

I know right? Crazy how fast they can just explode with growth. I love it.

Here it depends on the season. Summer = extreme heat. Winter = extreme cold. The cold makes growing easier as it comes with a lower RH in grow areas, but I'm missing the heat.
Happy little ladies! Keep up the good work!
Thanks N420! This grow definitely won't be my best work, but it'll produce some great buds I'm sure.
You can’t get any better looking seedling than wappa. Looks perfect! :yahoo:
Thanks Verbalist, her roots are pretty sweet as well!

Day 8

Cabinet temp: 26C avg
Cabinet RH%: ~60% (some periods of low RH)
Previous PPM: 138
Current PPM: 210
Adjusted PPM to: 210
PH: 6.3
Res temps: 18.7C
Water level: Level/Steady

So first the seed popping issues, then onto the seedlings.

The plans for a regular seed this grow has been shelved. After 6 beans not popping, except one that stalled right after cracking, I've moved on to popping some fresher beans, as I'm already slightly under feeding to be able to quickly ease another seedling into the system.
With as big of a gap as there will in age, I'm sure she'll experience some nute burn, as a Blackberry Auto fem has been popped. She should be visible in next 12 hrs or so.

Not a whole lot going on just yet. I've added some Hygrozyme into the mix for the grow. So for the roots I'll be using both Root Builder and Hygrozyme.

Nice start for the little ladies, they have beautiful white roots and plenty of them!

I know how you feel about having issues getting seeds to pop. I’m trying to get my next grow going but can’t get any seeds to germ:( I’m thinking they might be a bit too old but I’ve only had them for 2 years so there’s that.

Thanks N420, though in full honesty- I kinda am at fault for one dying on me :laughtwo: . I went to remove the helmet, and accidentally took a cott with it....so I tossed it. That was Blackberry #1, we're at #2 now

Dud seeds suck, this has been the worst success I've had yet. But it is what it is, and I'll roll with it.

Seedling looking great Rex! Wish I’d bought that small net cup also :battingeyelashes:

My experience from Blackberry Kush autos I’d say they handle high amounts of nutes from the very beginning. Is it just Blackberry or a Kush?

Wappa leaves looking nice and roundish - is she indica dominant?

Thanks Verbalist!
I suspect that the net cup will become a nuisance, it doesn't have a big lip and most likely won't support much weight. Since it's in the cabinet I'm not too worried, it's a quick job to staple a string to the ceiling for extra support.

Hopefully your right and she'll take to the nutes like nothing. She's a feminized Blackberry Auto (no Kush unfortunately).

Actually I had to double check, and yup! The Wappa is a Indica dominant hybrid. Supposedly gets some nice colas on them, hopefully that proves true!

Not a big update..more for record keeping then anything :)

and then there was three....

The Blackberry Auto has popped and is in her new home. The roots on the Wappa and the Gorilla Glue autos are exploding nicely. The Gorilla glue roots have hit the bottom and are feeding off the bottom reservoir. The Wapa roots aren't far behind.

So a bit of a note on my DIY setup. Each bucket (that has a plant), gets top fed from the controller bucket. The pipe that supplies the top feed has been cut so that it drops the water about 1/4 inch from the net cups. This allows the roots to sip from the falling water, while encouraging root growth. The splashes from the water falling, combined with the airstones makes it so that water is dripping down from the lids (inside) like rain :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley: .

Right now the @NextLight 420h is at 220 Watts roughly. And that's all for now, :thanks: everyone and I hope you have a wonderful week!!

Oh yeah, nice root!
Thanks Stone!

I'll be making up for some previous lack of root porn ;)

Though I gotta do a res change. The Wappa ain't happy and she's screaming at me to change it out. I'll come back with a proper update later. So far I'm really liking how the roots are developing in the diy system.

Day 12

Cabinet temp: 29C avg (Leaf temp 24.7C)
Cabinet RH%: ~60% (some periods of low RH)
Previous PPM: 350ISH
Current PPM: 429
Adjusted PPM to:
PH: 5.6
Res temps: 20 (cooling down still)
Water level: reset (roughly 50L)

So I did the first reset of the res today. Yeah...this ain't gonna be fun when they get bigger, I see a few spots to make some modifications. Got the parts and might get it done next reservoir change.

So a few things to note here, ive noticed that the spray paint on the buckets don't seem to have blocked the light 100%, more like 90%. I have a few ideas, and will have to get it fixed up.

So, I've noticed some great root growth. They seem to be doing fairly well, minus the Wappa. I accidentally let the PH drift. I've already noticed some improvement on her since I reset the reservoir today.
The kinda bad news, I've noticed some brown on the roots. Just a bit staring, so I made sure to include a full dose of Hygrozyme and Root Builder. That should hopefully keep that in check.

So for this reservoir, I had a starting PPM of 10 after the RO. I added 80 PPM of cal mag. I let it sit (with a pump in the tote to stir), then added roughly 150PPM of grow. Added my diamond Nectar (humic acid). Ph adjusted. Then added Hygrozyme, and root builder.

That's all for now! Thanks for dropping by :passitleft:

Babies look so good already! I came in at a good time! Hurray!
Aww thanks Krissi, I really appreciate it :).
It'll be a bit of a rough start I think, they're all three at different stages, so getting them to start and stay on the same feed for the first part will be tricky.
Though this round, I'm quite OK with one or two being somewhat stunted, space is tight :laughtwo:
