Renegade's Hydro Flux - Featuring TwiLight Group's 432 Watt Spider COB LED

Good morning all....

The growth under this light is awesome. She's getting about 2-3" and week.

Uhm, so yea....LOL. We're going to have to defol weekly to keep the fans at bay. So defol this weekend starting tomorrow after res change out.

Beginning in the middle and working our way out we'll cut out the biggest fans first to see how much we clear. Then moving on to the outer edges.

Want some clarification on defol'ing the fans and not the shoots that are coming out of the base of the fans....

This is what she looks like this morning....

Oh, and I cut loose her bonds for a couple days till after the defol.

I'll pull her back down after that is done once I can see in there

She's looking great bro :)

Don't touch the shoots as they are your bud sites. :)

Spot on Skunny....

And the Professor has confirmed...LOL.

Renegade personally I'd spread her more first, move tethers along some to ends of limbs and get a slightly bigger base. This would help with limiting the defol needed and give better area per colas later on! :) To defol go where needed but lightly at mo. The new shoots from these points you leave on, just crush them gently just below the top growing tip. This stunts them for now whilst the vert builds. You want this so your not getting weak spindly growth reaching for the canopy!
If you miss some or spot an area free then let any good structured offshoots go for it :) I ended up with 4 extra canopy colas from a few secondary shoots I left be and got good bud development. You just don't want it all over busy, so we manage the secondaries at this point! :)

Dear Professor,

Maybe you didn't understand the severity of the situation and the homework you have just assigned me....LOL. The canopy is just too dense.

But being a good soldier and student I marched on and am glad to say mission accomplished without any casualties...no limbs lost during the relocating of the tethers.

I still haven't pulled the heads down yet but as suggested I was able to relocate the tethers to a higher point on the arms. And even while doing so I could see the benefit of it. At the very least I was able to see more space opening up.

You do understand Sir that you are creating a monster to the 10th degree...LOL.

Not me I gave up that madness years ago....of course I'm talking about my Flux Gurl....LOL.

I will pull the heads down on Sunday, giving her a few days to adjust to the gentle touches of today and res change out tomorrow.

Maybe it's me but I can see the growth in her from just this morning....

See everyone on Sunday after we pull the heads back down.

LOL...good soldier.

I'm very impressed as your yard goes very fast. Good luck for afternoon defoil :)

I can't imagine the water she will drink with all of this 28 futurs head sites specially last 8 weeks, if you still travel from monday to tuesday, maybe your 6 gal rez may be upgraded :ganjamon:

My bonsai and the other baby drink 1 Gal/ 3 Days with daily corrected PH Var. I can easily imagine your lady drinking 3 Gal within 5/6 days, how will u manage PH variations ...?

I think for now she doesn't drink a lot with stable around 5.8 PH ?

See u tonight

Looking very nice Renegade.

Thank you all for the visit....

Tad, LA suggests waiting on the defol and instead attempt to pull the heads out and away from the center so that is what we will work on tonight.

Tomorrow I will check in on her to see if we can wait a little more before some light defol but to tell you the truth I don't think so.

She just continues to amaze me with the stretch.

Side shoots are everywhere. Especially on the Flux arms. Originally I wasn't going to pull the flux heads away some but feel it may be necessary to open the middle up some more.

We'll wait and see how successful I am with the work being done tonight.

OBTW....I don't travel anymore. I move the wife to where I am. It's a temp move because we still have a final move to Western NC but I had to get her closer to me. 15 mins from the job site instead of a 2 hour drive one way.

But you did remind me of something that I have been taking for granted. So lets dwell on that for a bit while I pull on the heads.

Res levels and PH....

I have neglected adding water in between change outs. In fact the only water I add/change is the put back mid change out. Which has only been a gallon of fresh nutrients. And even then I drain a gallon before adding the gallon.

I will no longer drain a gallon...

I did notice the res level being low but since her root ball is huge I didn't give it any thought. And the plant hasn't shown any adverse effects as a result.

With a six gallon res I'm probably loosing 2-3 gallons in a two week span. That's all.

We've seen the plants response to the Spider and really didn't give it any thought. Now that you've put that question in my head....thanks dick...LOL. (I mean that in a fun and jest kind of way....LOL).

I will monitor the levels more closely. I may not make any drastic changes to what I've been doing (except no longer draining a gallon when I add the put back gallon mid change out) but at least keep an eye on it just in case.

With the stretch she should be drinking more which is also why I've upped her strength (as of 2 feedings ago) from 80 to 100%. That's a mean mix of nutrients for one plant but she has rewarded me for it with the renewed growth spurt.

As for the PH. I still check in regular and believe it or not it has maintained a 5.8 mark. I only check it more frequent after res change out to make any necessary adjustments.

RH remains a slight battle but with the suggestion from Skunny I think...LOL and Dennise the trick with the wet towel works like a charm. But now I have to do it daily. Twice a day. In the morning when I wake and at noon just before light out.

So in a nut shell....

My Flux Gurl loves her nutrients, the strength of and the Spider.

This is what she looks like before pulling the heads down and out....

I'd go with a light defol on the fan leaves blocking the heads & keep an eye on new shoots under the canopy & give them a pinch :)

We'll see how she looks after I pull on a few heads.

I'll post the pics in a few when I'm done.

Oh yea, very happy with these results.

At the very least it opened up the center and gives me a better view of what's next.

A light defol tomorrow night starting from the center and working my way out and along the ring. Only cutting fans that are shading the heads.

Thanks Professor for the light swat of the ruler on my hands...LOL.

So stay tuned for tomorrow evening of the after pics....

Jungle no more Tad...LOL.

I did say light defol right...LOL.

Well I went a little (lot) heavy but love the outcome. I was able to pull the heads out of the way and before long she looked like she was in pre vertical stage...LOL.

Still happy with the results and all I did was add an extra week to her stretch.

Hell she's been gaining 3" per week so 12/12 flip is still on for October 15.

I really like how the main Flux arm/heads are developing. I'll be spending a lot of time on them to get that all too perfect cola.

The rest are pulled into place so we'll just leave her be and recoup.

It's stretch time now....I think I said that before...LOL.

No pics right now (lights out) but will post them tonight when the lights come back on.

It sounds like you've been having fun buddy :) Giving her a good defol will stunt the stretch but aid in keeping the nodes tight so it's not all bad :)

For sure Skunny....

Not worried at all. And if this light hasn't proved itself by now the next week of renewed stretch will certainly tell the story.

Be back in an hour with pics. She looks like pre-vertical for sure...LOL.

Yea, Fun is an understatement....LOL.

She got a fresh hair cut. Set her back a week but the results are still good.

As a result of relocating the tethers and pulling her heads down and out of the way I could see into the middle better. Which is the reason I went with the defol.

The more I cut the more I wanted to cut and before long she looked like she did a week ago....bald....LOL.

But, I have a bigger base and better spacing around the heads.

She'll go vertical now and light defol cutting the fans out of the way as we go.

I've been averaging 2-3" a week which means I didn't set myself back from my original 12/12 flip at all. Flipping regardless on or about Oct 15.

My only dilemma is the shoots that are now present on the main Flux heads. How far down should I clip???

That's all and now the after....

Input on the Flux heads....

OK you need to drop them ends into line more! :) also now you have more spacing your set :) the secondary stuff is up to you and the structure versus space, as if you want a couple extra sites let em roll. :) nice job, but let her be a bush now no defol point blank!!! :)

Done and done....
