Renaissance Man's First Official Grow: Blueberry OG, Gorilla Zkittles & Cream Caramel In Soil

Nah...it's the end now if you wanna give em a bump...you still trying to fix that leaf color?
Nope. It hasn't extend to the bud sugar leaves and just staying in the fans. I think she only has a matter of days left after her drought so not too concerned about it. I'd rather push nutes into the flower to thicken up and add to trichome. I'm not entirely sure that's how it works but it makes sense in my head.

I am pretty sure it is up to the plant now but after a drought is over I give em like a whole gallon of nutes lol so prolly in our heads but hell go ahead...not going to hurt her

Hey ren man. Just tried to catch up with your journal, I know I’m really late to the party . Lookin great my friend. Looks like you got a lot of good advice from the people here. I know things can get hectic, especially when it’s your first few grows. My advice is less is more. Try to make things as simple as possible for you and your plants. Once you get a good system down you can try to tweak things as you see fit. You are well on your way to a fine harvest and I’ll be here for the finish.

Thanks LED! Yeah there are a lot of good peeps up in here that have helped me get this far. I can see the finish line but still kinda holding my breath. I feel good though, yes, I feel confident. Right now I'm just concerned about drying and curing.. I think I have a plan but I need to work out a few more details... I don't think I'll be able to put in darkness for 2 days before the chop. But I'll be fine

Flower Day 43 (Week 8)
5 days since water/feed

Well it looks like I am on 5 day drought and CC looks pretty droopy. So does BB. GZ looks like she can go another day or two. I'm really trying to be patient with this drought although I haven't measured Leaf Angle, I think we have achieved it. CC started off pretty droopy as it was given the lack of nutrients in her fan leaves already. Stay tuned... I might have to water today.

I'm just drying one that I droughted, then Epsom/H2O2 for the final two waterings and left to dry in the pot
Certainly seems to up the terpene profile
Good stuff RM

That's awesome Grow

Pardon my ignorance and/or if I overlooked something in your journal.

Could y'all explain the purpose of the drought process?
Does this assist with the amount of trichome production?

During veg. often stress my plants in order to make them more resilient, particularly girls destined for outside growth. During flowering usually try to pamper my plants.

Hey Farmer,

I'm probably not the right guy to explain this process to you but I can point you in the right direction.

In short, there is evidence that by inducing a drought at a later stage of flower, you will see an increase in trichomes. As many of us grow this for the potency of the THC, naturally, there are many people so inquisitive of the subject. With that being said, there are some who don't believe in the results.

Take a look at this thread: Droughting link to see the conversation. It's not necessarily a how-to, but a great conversation hearing two sides of an experiment.

I'm not as specific in this process as others, I'm kind of wingin it. And since this is my first grow, I really have nothing to compare to so I said, why not?

Thanks for staying tuned to my journal... Just checked trichomes and feel like I'm pretty close to harvest:headbanger:

Flower day 45

It feels like I have days left. Every day I am checking the trichomes to see if any new amber trichomes are coming in. It's still pretty sparse. They all seem to be pretty even development and for my own sake, I hope I can cut them down on the same day. Wishful thinking.

After the droughting period which was only about 5 days for CC and BB, I stretched to 7 days for GZ until her main cola started to lose the tirgidity (is that how it's spelled?) Anyways, gave her a blast of pH'd water and some bloom nutes only.

From here on out, I think I'm going to only give bloom nutes to finish. Next water/feed should be on Sunday.

I want close ups of those gnarly buds RM so get crack-a-snapping

Hey Ren :)

Things are looking picture perfect :)
Thanks T! They're coming along, I've got the finish line in sight!

Tested out a premature little nug from CC and it was a nice little high.. tasted great. Looking forward to the rest of the harvest.

I like the test nugs so much I almost smoke all my plant up before it’s ready! Ha. Plants are looking great RM!

Thanks NTH! I'm trying to refrain from doing that. I really want to get a fairly accurate weigh in at the end so I can have a baseline to my future grows.

Flower day 49 (last day of week 7)
Water/feed (only bloom nutes)

So here is my description of what I have going on in my own words. GZ has not exactly stacked the colas how I had imagined, however, the buds are dense and hard. Also sticky and smells nice. Very little amber and still few clear trichomes. She's starting to lean in a few places but nothing concerning. Also see a lot of purple coming in on top leaves indicating fall colors? I don't think it is a deficiency but again, nothing I should be concerned of I don't think.

BB has stacked up a little nicer but still not what I was expecting. Also very dense buds and seems to be more trichomes than GZ. The two look to be at about the same stage before harvest.

CC is the least dense, but also sticky and smells really piney. She also has many yellowing of leaves indicating fall colors? I have been feeding them only bloom nutes for about a week. Maybe I should have not ceased the MC so soon.

Lastly is the GZ3, she has completely turned into a single cola. Not sure what I'm going to do now because I'm not about to keep the flower tent on a few more weeks just for her. She's going to run right into my next grow, so it's probably going to turn into a reveg monstercrop. Will this result in a hermie? Hope not.

I have a harvesting dilemma coming up that I'll discuss in another post.

Dropped in to check out the ladies. Awesome grow. Thanx for the drought link. Gonna give that a read. I’ve been tempted to cut some larfy stuff off and fire it up. May do that and see how she hits.

Kinda weird tho. We grow these ladies from seed. Be as gentle and caring as we can. Feed them water them Love them. Then at the last couple weeks of their life the rough stuff starts. Drought, cutting stalks, total darkness you name it lol. But I’m down.
