Relaxed's Winter Experiment

Drive by Relaxed. Hey I've grown many a crop in storm cellars. Good for temp control for sure.
I tend to agree with Pinky there. They do adapt to stuff like street lights, yard lights, car headlights, and even full moons don't hermie my outdoor girls. But I'd bet 10 to 1 if your girls are use to 100% darkness, just about any light leak more than acouple minutes has a good chance of flipping a hermie. But also certain strains are more prone to the ease of hermies.
Hope you had a good Holidays and Keepem Green

Seedling #1&2, I think these might be males due to internodal distance, but who knows.

So what I've gathered from this line of convo is that stray light during the dark period that a cannabis plant has grown accustom to during it's veg cycle shouldn't cause any problems later on as long as it's a constant. But if it's grown accustom to total darkness then stray light becomes a hermie hazard. Does that about sum it up?

Can I say for the record that these incidental lights should not be so luminous that the plant doesn't know it's lights off? I have just a sliver of leak out of double reflected light that I was feeling iffy about, and this topic sure eased my mind. However, I could see how someone with a more severe leak might construe that to be all inclusive of light leaks, like the little LED's that some timers have, I also had a 3 way splitter that had a bright little red light on it at all times. Or even a closet with a bed sheet hung over it attached to a dark room, but still maybe that room's door is open and the next hall/room lights are frequently on.

Not to drag this out, but we each need to really look at our grow areas and try to find light penetration both ways if possible and seal them up as best we each can to prevent our grows from becoming the subject matter to this topic.

Indoors... Agreed.
I just like to keep a grasp of the whys & whats of the things I'm learning. To just know that this is the way something's done isn't enough.

I'm glad this topic has eased your mind Skybound. For our outdoor plants, I know that the sensor lights, street lights, and moon light, etc is not comparable to our almighty Sun, our plants will grow for about 6 months so they have ample time to adapt.
As far as indoor growing goes, Yeah, definitely make sure everything is consistent!:thumb:

With all things in life, we should apply to learn why it is a certain way, b/c then the process of understanding why can be reapplied and results be refined.

Indeed!:thumb:

Thanks for giving that guy your opinion.

You're "experiment" is coming along quite well. I'm watching in eager excitement. :tommy:

I'm really interested in reading a well thought out smoke report for an auto.

:Namaste::peace::bravo:
No problem, always glad to help, I remember coming onto this site looking for help, I was astonished at the amount I got, so it's only natural to return the favor. I am also happy with the progress of this experiment, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves talking about a "smoke report" just yet...let me sex them first ;)

Still Tokerday here Cron! And Thank you for the kind words. I have submitted into the contests about a year now I think, and finally it seems like my hard work has paid off. The recognition couldn't have come at a better time. Much Mahalo!:thanks:

Happy Tokerday Lester. Babies are looking good. I never gave the stray light that happens with my girls outside a thought. I had 5 on the deck right outside and with the room light that can stay on way to long shinning through the door, bedroom lights, and neighbors yard lights, no hermies. I think it's the intense light that is on for to long we have to worry about. Butt that is just my opinion.

I feel ya -- not that you've ever had a big problem with moths -- but the only thing I worry about with porch/deck plants is moths being attracted to the inside lights, wouldn't want them to stumble upon our magical goodness :) Our neighbor has a big flood-light not even 10 feet away from my medicinal planter bed, when their dog goes outside to pee at night the light always comes on and flashes my ladies through the cracks in the fence. I worry more about it attacting moths than effecting the photoperiod of the plants.
Anyway thanks for the kind words, hope all is well for you, Happy New Year! :cheertwo:
