Relaxed's 2014 Outdoor Medical Grow

Today the KC-45 male was trashed, I also found one little worm trying to cocoon itself between a cannabis leaf, it was destroyed. Also all plants were treated with a solution of SNS-203 to combat the fungus gnats :Namaste:

Ah man...

I don't know why it is so difficult to do the whole signature thing. I have to try and fix it. But, as promised, I welcome you to my new journal. Everyone else is also invited.

I'm there brother! :thumb:

Raining right now, luckily the tent is accepting the brunt of it and just dripping the water through. I think it's nice to have some fresh rain every once in awhile as long as they aren't in deep flower. Looks like we'll get about 1/4-1/2 inch of rain tonight :surf:

"Into every life, some rain shall fall..."

when it is really nice out and it is warm the plants really love the rain. You can almost see them opening there arms to get cleansed.

True that brother! Couldn't of said it better myself :Namaste:

Rained pretty decent last night, but it was the winds that were killer. 30 mph gusts nearly ripped my tent apart and the plants were uncovered when I woke up at 6 AM, got everything all straightened back out. Luckily even though it's still windy, there is blue skies and clear Sun so the plants are really loving it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger :morenutes:

:wood: Lester, :wood: Lester,

Can you do me a favor? Can you please shut the door over there on your side? The wind is blowing so hard & causing a huge draft, that my Ladies are swaying back and forth like oak trees! I'm afraid that if you keep the door open too much longer, Lil Ole Sabo's Ladies are going to fall down & go boom. :high-five:

Hi RL,

Just catching up and noticed this:

I'll only grow in a 100% organic medium with dolomite included as a pH buffer. You'll notice I do not pH my water or measure PPMs ever, I only have to water and listen to how my plants feel, if they are hungry or thirsty. [quote}

Exactly the approach I'm drawn too - get the soil right and just add water and listen.

One detail - in Doc Bud's High Brix journal he recommends using CaCO3 (calcium carbonate 95%+), and says dolomite doesn't do nearly as well. I think I can track it down if you like.....

I'm not attracted to the hype of "high brix kits", I'm happy with my herbs and how much money it costs me to grow them, after all that is the whole point of growing for me is to make up for all the money I've spent on medical marijuana at dispensaries. Imagine how much more money it would cost me to fill up twelve 7 gallon growing bags twice a year with "high brix kit components" for an outcome that is probably only ~4-5 brix degrees higher, I am happy with my 10% Brix, and that number can be altered more or less based on the weather conditions outside. My soil is not something I concoct myself, it is locally made organic soil that I end up amending with different bat guano teas, and I use a mixture of 3-4 different sea kelp strains as a foliar spray to "tingle the root zone" and activate the bacteria more. So I can achieve moderately decent brix levels without spending a fortune on that stuff. Just a matter of how the weather is doing for me, and how I treat my plants.

Let's examine the structure of dolomite CaMg(CO3)2

And Ca(CO3)

Do you notice anything different between the two? They are the same exact components, yet dolomite has an added Magnesium atom, and an additional mole of carbonate.
There is no doubt they can both act as buffers, and one might have slightly better solubility properties than the other. Either way they are VERY similar. A lot of my CaCO3 comes from ground up oyster shells and crab shells, in addition to the dolomite. So they are both present. :thumb:

Just my two cents on the issue.... hate me or love me! :circle-of-love:

Hey Relaxed. I'm sure it's nice to have that rain. I talk to ppl all over the US for my job. CA along with AZ are always jealous of our east cost precipitation, well except the snow of course!

keep em' green! :passitleft:

Yeah everything worked out great, cleansed by the rain and a great today! Suppose to be 80° F next week. :surf:
