Relaxed Lester's Garden Photos

Good morning Lester,

Impressive shots, still waiting for spring, but the trees are budding now, small daffodils are
popping up here & there, so she's not too far off from my neck of the woods.

Have a Great Day!

Even though I grew up in California, these pictures hardly seem real. My beans and broccoli are indoors under lights
. There is snow on the ground. On the other hand we have had closer encounters with Deer, Fox, woodpeckers and frogs this week. Frogs are a sign of spring :)
Thank you kindly :)

does your cat ever play with (or should I say mess with, since that's all cats do) the turtle?

Not really, she doesn't want anything to do with him, but sometimes they both want the same spot for the morning Sun to bathe in and they've bathed feet apart

Everything and everyone is living in harmony in this beautiful little garden :Namaste:

lmao good stuff my dude. do they acknowledge each other? I really want a dog he would be my good friend :)

Good morning weed Lester. Your garden is so pretty and mine is still brown and gray. That bearded Iris is beautiful. Happy 420

It's funny you ask that, the cat wants pretty much nothing to do with him. BUT the tortoise wants everything to do with everything. He's constantly probing and doing recon to see how he can get into the planter beds, hes very intelligent and persistent, I've seen him probing around for hours on one spot trying to figure it out. The cat was walking down the bricks today and the tortoise spotted the cat, the cat let out a slight "meow" and walked around, but the tortoise always follows us around the yard, so he followed the cat until he got bored lol. The tortoise also tries to come inside the house, he sees us through the glass door and tries to bang his head on it to get in

Happy Easter Lester!

Did the Tortoise & Kitty get anything from the Easter Bunny or is this garden completely "Off-Limits" for Bunnies?

:high-five:
Well, The Cat got her usual organic medical catnip, a LARGE DOSE for 420. And the Tortoise is getting what he wants, and that is to forage, and scavenge :surf:

Great Day to you Brother Bee and a Happy 420 to you! You're right, I love this purple bearded iris, great little sea of purple coming along here :)

I also wanted to post this information formally on my thread about these mushrooms, and how mushrooms and plants have evolved together for millions of years symbiotically (even though there are some parasitic fungi), the ones we are seeing are a beneficial kind called the inky caps, they liquify their spores into a black goo. I often times have seen the mushroom able to attach themselves to something, to spread the spores, but usually it forms a droplet back into the soil. The process of asexual reproduction is very very efficient, being that we live in a water world and global temperatures rising. I could see the day that fungus takes over the planet. Very hardcore species, these mushrooms come up AND bloom overnight, they get a lot achieved in a short amount of time.

Actually inky caps are edible. I thought they taste like sheeeeet but I had a friend that would soak them and then cook them a certain way. He would eat them a couple of times a year. Golf course that I worked at in the 70s had them everywhere. There also was morels, shaggy manes, chantrels and a lot of magic ones. We even had a spot that there were hundreds of Amanita muscaria a true toadstool. Poisonous as all get out but very pretty. Some would get a foot across and a foot tall. It happen every year in the same place. I always looked for the wee people.

Lester,

Your cat scared the hell out me! Am so entranced by the lovely pictures, then I saw her walking like a tiger, then she spread her paw & scared me back into Hillbilly Country, BTW, your tortoise needs a pedicure and toe nails painted!

:surrender:

I love your thread. Thanks for sharing for all of us further north (just shy of 49N here). I have some tomato plants that are close to that big, but they are in the bathroom under flourescents haha

We're planting all our 'early' plants this weekend, but won't put the tenders out for another couple weeks yet.

I'm still working on my veggies, a lot of other plants get more attention from me than do the veggies, it's just huge juggling act and sometimes the veggies are usually the ones who take the hit most lol

LOL I hear you. My basement is sorta stalled. Partially due to bad timing/circumstance, but I've also let it linger a bit. We're pretty busy trying to get everything ready for the garden. I almost started some new MJ seeds several weeks ago, but I'm glad I got smart and waited until after the spring planting is done. :blalol:
