Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

Wow that is looking good. Another case of the female having the plants growth pattern. The buds look just like the Recon did. Great job Orlando
Thanks bro, she is by far the frostiest plant in the flower tent!!
How are things going for you my friend?

And then there was 2. Seed tent is finished and taken down. Only one plant left in it. I trimmed 2 plants yesterday so there is now room. With a little moving around I got everything in the last 2 tents. I will have to drop the wattage down for one tent though. The seed tent was under 400 watts and I don't want to hermie the last plant. I moved all the later flower plants out of one tent and will drop the wattage to 50 or 75%. All plants are in the late stages of flower so the drop in lumens is not going to affect production.

Only weeks left of a very interesting year. Some good some bad but in all it was a success. I can't say I found any new favorites. Could be because I grew a few of my old favorites. Gorilla Glue hybrids have did good but I am pretty sure the original is the way to go. Someday I will hunt down a clone. GG will never be a big producer but the high is well worth it.

I guess the biggest success of the year is a butt load of new seeds. I know they will not all work but some will. Even if it is only for a while. Still not sure how my next setup will look like so there is no use trying to plan a new one. I hope it will have space for mothers and clones.

As I mentioned. I started trimming plants yesterday. Early C-99 and Critical are all cloudy and ready to go. I did find out my run of luck is still going. Or it was at one time. When I moved 2 plants to the seed tent to free up room. I had a choice of 2 C-99 plants. This was also a plant I planned to hit with Headband pollen if I could. Not much to look at to make a decision before I had to choose. I chose right. Of the 2 the one I moved was bushier and produced better. It has also produced one seed so far. C-99 is a very stable selfed strain so I wasn't too worried about my choices. Still picking the better plant is a win. The Tangilope was also a good choice as it produced nice hard buds even under 400 watts of light. That's good genetics there.

Worst thing right now is I just don't have time for chores, trimming, and photos. I hope things get better before I get to the best of the plants. Killer Queens are getting close and I would love to get a few pictures.

I will finally have a dedicated veg space next week so I can start growing bigger plants and keep better track of age. I think these first two are around 7 weeks in flower.

Those share a single large hempy. This next one is a week or so younger.

Green ones smell like sweet hangover vomit (my son says "it's poops" at the odor, lol) while the purple one is more of almost fermented berries, maybe a hint of overripe grapes and skunk.

I have to agree. Vomit sounds interesting LOL. Something about the dank side of genetics I just love. It doesn't sound like flavor will be a problem lol. Type of high really interests me now.

What is really funny, in the breeding of Purple Betty a BCBD hybrid. The first try came out smelling too nasty and the project was scrapped. ????? never heard of too nasty before. The breeder ended up breeding BCBD and Seedking Purps together then tried again. The second attempt worked perfectly. Purple Betty is one of my best and most favorite strains. I am wondering if Vomit was the cause of the first failed project LMAO.

The vomit pheno will be interesting! Lol
For sure. These are the plants whose odor overpowers my tent.

Me either. I am a big fan of flavor and smell. From the stores here I recently had some cookies and cream that tasted like burnt chicken skin and had almost no odor, got me high, but just horrible. I'll take vomit over chicken skin any day, lol.

I'm going to have to grow a few of those out. I have what amounts to a smorgasbord of genetics to try out and a dozen or so breeding projects I want to do. These are not problems I expected to have, considering I started this journey out last summer with a handful of bag seeds and some crappy florescent lights.

I am interested in effect as well. The last one I grew was different than these phenos, it started skunk and turned grapey. It was a light purple hue and delivered textbook high potency hybrid effects. Like a heavy sativa rush to start with a definite stupid feeling indica finish. I hope for something similar.

Ganjagrowergu. Purple Betty has a bit more indica but it does have a nice fast start much like sativas. It definitely has a put you to bed level also. It can be day time weed in lower doses. I never do much because I have daytime weed. Later at night is where it performs best.

With all the smells and flavor coming out these days. It is amazing that no one has found another Roadkill Skunk. Or better yet they still have seeds. Thing is if it was out there there would be seeds. While it may not be the strongest weed ever the popularity would carry it through. Lots of different strawberries lemons and every other smell coming out. How come Skunk can't get to Skunky?

The differences between Sweet and Dank is huge. For me dank flavors shine through easier. While I like some of the sweet strains. The smells don't always come through with flavor. Mostly my pallette doesn't notice it as easy. Pineapple strains seem to be the best for me with sweet strains. Lemon is a whole different thing. Lemon comes through a lot better.

Personally I want to find some of each. Lemon. Berry, Fuelly Sweet and Dank. I don't ask for much LMAO.
