Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

Thanks Orlando. she is looking great. I have to agree she is a bushy little beast. Really funny that you are trying all the strains I am most interested in lol.

Between that one and the G.I.Jane. You are previewing part my next grow. Unless they suck LMAO.

By the way.Is that camera doing you any good? I hoped it would work but it might have been a long shot.

Well it looks like I am going to make it through this run without major problems. While there are bad spots on the leaves of some plants. They are all on lower branches. At this point in time it is just not worth trying to figure it out. Lots of plants are getting pretty close. The only plants with lots of white hairs at the top are the Cannalope Haze. From what i know of this strain it won't be a problem. Once it gets where it wants to be it finishes really fast.

I am slowly walking back my thoughts on the Snowdawg. They are huge that has to count for something. More trichomes are showing up every day. The one crap plant is still the same. It is doing lots of stuff but none of it is impressive. This thing is going into water hash or shatter for sure. The other 2 look like they should be ok. It all matters what kind of high they have. Even with fewer trichomes it doesn't mean this won't have a great indica high. At least it is looking like it wasn't a waste of space. Losing 3 plants would have hurt. 1 no big deal. I have noticed there is going to be lots more fluffy little buds this grow. I tried to let things be more this time than I normally do. Some strains took to it well. Others have only fluffy buds below the canopy. Some strains build nice hard buds well below the canopy. You just never know which ones. with the headband clones. I have lots more tops on these plants then their mothers. More buds and branches but the buds are smaller. We will see which produces the most.

I figured it was time for a updated picture. Everything is finding its own space in the sun now. Lots better light penetration in this tent.

Pulled a small branch from the drying Basic 99 clone from the seed tent. I found one small brown seed. That's a good thing right?

I have to admit while I am slightly upset there was not more. I can't help but love the idea of a couple extra ounces to smoke. Still with one seed in one small branch. I could still end up with 20 or 30 seeds from the rest of the plant. That is really all I need. I don't plan to sell seeds so I only need enough for me. Well and maybe a friend or 2 along the way. It's all about me you know LMAO.

One thing for sure. There will be at least one Basic Head plant. As you all know I love naming strains. These Headband hybrids are giving me hell though. Over the last few months I have come up with a few names. Still need to grow everything out before giving it a name. If it is not going to be grown again it doesn't need a name LMAO. Here are a few Of the ideas I have had so far.

The Jacks Cleaner 2 hybrids were kind of easy. Cleaner at the end fits some of them really well.

Mystery Plant x JC 2 = Mystery Cleaner
Headband x JC 2 = Head Cleaner
Glueberry x JC 2 = Gorilla Cleaner.
Genius x JC 2 = Brainwash. This one is kind of a reach. If the strain is strong enough who cares it will work LOL.

One strain I have high hopes for will be Tangiloe if it pans out. Tangilope x Tahoe Og

I had a few more but can't remember them LOL. No big deal it is almost fishing time. I do a lot of my thinking on long drives. I will be traveling a lot this spring fishing so I will come up with more or remember the others. If they were really good names they will come to me again.

As the smaller Devil's Pitchfork x Trailer Trash Betty buds dry in the fridge I have been smoking a few. It tastes like Dark Devil auto which is a flavor I have yet to pin Point. Many say she should taste like berries and fuel but I disagree, it's more like fruity incense. The TTB brought with it extreme potency (I passed out with my socks on which is actually something of a pet peeve) and the flavor of black pepper. Effect of this pheno is definitely hybrid and ooofff, I love it.

Just thought you might be interested to know how she turned out.

Happy fishing

Thank you I was interested. I have thoughts of a early hybrid. Crossing Trailer Trash Betty with Cinderella 99. I just don't know how I want to do it. Knowing TTB adds to a hybrid even when it is the female is very helpful.

When I do cross it I will probably have to go both ways. (A first for me LMAO) I have always crossed TTB into things. With this I don't know for sure what I want to add to what LOL. Cinderella carries lots of trichomes I don't know that it needs more. It could use a blast of indica though. TTB is early but nothing seems to be as early as C-99. Cindy is early and has the flavor which makes it great for breeding. Hummmm.

By doing both crosses it will add work but I will have a better idea from the start where I want continue once it is all done.

Might as well slow things down just a little more and post a couple pictures. Killer Queen has turned into a hell of a strain. They all look beautiful and only slightly like C-99. Smells are all different, the favorite so far is really Dark Cherry Soda. It really does smell like it.

I will just stick with those pictures today and let people digest them. It truly is a great strain. I have to give Brothers Grimm props for their strains. It's no big surprise that C-99 is good. So far all the strains from Grimm are impressive. Genius was harder to grow this is a known fact. The quality was there hard to grow or not. Everything else has did incredible.

You hear a lot about smells and flavors. Some I get some I don't. I know what Diesel strains smell like. I have worked my whole life around diesel. I don't think they are the same, maybe that is just me. The say Chemdawg can be gassy. I always thought it would be the same as other smells and flavors I didn't get LOL. Boy was I wrong I got unleaded. I mean just like Gas. I was totally surprised so I double and triple checked it. I even checked it against Alpha Dawg. The Alpha Dawg has that slightly gassy smell the same as I have always smelled before. Nothing like the Chem. You got to love this Stuff.

Pennywise. What is really funny. Humboldt sent me Chemdawg to replace the strain that hermied on me. I was kind of bummed at the time. Now? not so much LMAO. I may still see if I can regenerate it. The real Gassy smell is new if it stays I may really want to save this plant. Lots of stuff going on at the lower part of this plant. I bet I can save it. Then what the hell to do with it till I need it. Hmmmmm have to do some pondering on that.

As trimming begins I will leave you guys with a look at Cinderella 99 and Cannalope Haze.

To start I will show the big C-99. I have 2 phenos of this. Both are just full of bud.

Next up we have Cannalope Haze. All 3 plants are slightly different. This one looks like it is going to flower a lot longer than the other 2. Different bud formations but they all are covered in frost.

I don't know that the gassy pheno is one I will like the high of. I am real picky that way sometimes. I have to decide well beforehand to know. Might as well start it regenerating just in case. I have 6 more seeds so it isn't a huge deal if I don't like this one.

Like you said once you see Chemdawg it is hard to go back.

Twirler is born!!!!! Trimming the first Cinderella today. It happens to be the one that was grown in the seed tent. I also hit with the last of anything the reversed Headband had left. While trimming, it is kind of easy to find seeds. In most cases anyway. Not so much with this seed crop. I was pleasantly surprised to see one on the C-99 plant.

Why Twiller you ask? (I know you thought it LOL)

Went to a Grateful Dead concert years ago and saw Twirlers for the first time. No one dances with pure abandon like a Twiller. For that little time they are in their own world.

Twirlers are what happens when a princess meets hippies :peace:. I figure Cinderella 99 x Headband meets those parameters. From smoking both these strains I figure this hybrid should put you in your own little world. So there you have it. My hybrid. My name LMAO.

Thank you. The taste is in the pudding as they say. It is going to be a bit before I get any pudding LMAO. I sure hope these plants continue to impress. Best looking crop in a while.

I know it is a couple weeks early. I finally feel safe to say I went the whole year without Powdery Mildew rearing its ugly head. I treated the first crop all the way through. The second I did up tell they started producing hairs in flower. My normal spray kills the hairs so I stop using it during flower. Normally I would just switch to bleach water. Everything was looking so good I bit the bullet and let them go. Everything is still clear thank god. While PM is not the worst problem in the world it sure gave me hell. It is a lesson learned so I guess I can't complain to much.

I will use this moment to give advise. QUARANTINE EVERYTHING!!!!!
