Hey Rad. What is the metal blade for in the picture, top left looks aluminum? Just curious.

Grate day :surf:

The metal blade is my aluminum plant tag with the strain on it.

I reuse the same strain tag

from cloner

to planting in soil

and harvest.

I paid about $20 for a box of 100 and have used half of them for labelling outdoor plants.

It takes 2 tags for me to label a strain/genetic line (one for the mother clone and one for the daughter clone.)

I created a hempy compatible seed nursery today.

My first try at a seed nursery is a grocery store chicken bucket filled with perlite and a drain hole near the bottom

20171018_153103-1.jpg

I placed the perlite filled bucket with a drain inside an identical empty bucket, this essentially plugs the drain hole.
I then filled the seed nursery with water until the perlite started to float and added the same 3 part nutrent mix I use in the clone bucket.
I plan to drain and refill the seed nursery once every 3 days when I drain and refill the hempy buckets in veg.

Today, I planted a Dark Devil Auto seed and an Amherst Sour Diesel seed in the seed nursery.

20171018_154040-1.jpg

Another rooted Guawi clone went into a hempy, this time my standard sized 3 gallon hempy

20171018_150519-1.jpg

I have one more plant in soil to transplant into a hempy. The two largest plants in 1-gallon soil pots will transplant into 7-gallon soil pots.

My Veg area has been rearranged to accomodate 3 gallon hempys instead of a mix of 1-gallon and 7-gallon soil pots.

If I could grow anything out there based on smoke reports it would be Devil's Tit.

Some of those C99 and Colombian Gold '72 hybrids sound attractive too - but I only have space for so many strains (I clone them over and over.) and I am not ready to drop a good strain until a better one pushes it to the side. I won't 'pull the trigger' on a seed until I know I'm going to plant it. I'll never accept another clone without a long quarantine period.

Careful what ya wish for brother.... I just got the ingredients to do a reversal and I've got clones. Stay tuned for a male DT... and seeds!! If it works it will be S1 & BX1 the long way....Oh wait... what is it if you take a clone and reverse it, take that pollen and pollinate the clones sister clone and make seeds?? :scratchinghead::nomo:

Congrats on your harvest, looking like tasty treats on the hook there. :thumb: Good job buddy!

Grow out those Dark Devils.... everyone here loves that strain. It's a little mellow for me....errr lately. :yikes::rofl: (it's actually not that mellow).

Looks like some pretty large girls in VEG there. Next round should be fun. I'm thinking ropes are in your future!

I just saw you mention S1 on the build a better soil thread Got all excited about your Devils Tit - went looking and saw almost EVERYTHING from SnowHigh seeds is still sold out - so yeah, I'm ready to help with strain testing. :)

Devils Tit = Durbum Poison x Columbian Gold '72 x C99

Durban Poison - I've been wanting to try a Durban Poison cross for a couple of years but was a bit scared of Sativa growth patterns. This year, getting prepared to handle Durban Poison, I've been growing mostly Sativa, so I'm getting over that fear.

Columbian Gold - I always wanted to try a 'real' 70s Columbian Gold. I bought a lot of bags called Columbian Gold in the 70s (including my first ounce), a lot of happy smokes but nothing to say "wow".

C99 - C99 seems to be the "Princess" strain that shows up most often in the hybrids people rave about in the last year or two, so that has caught my attention. Once I realized they were Jack Herer based I took the Princess strains more seriously.

The only other strain whose hype got me excited in the last couple of years was Reina Madre/Queen Mother, and my Lilly is half Queen Mother. I don't think I've grown Lilly to her full potential yet. I hope to do better.

By the genetics and your testamonial, Devil's Tit is on the top of my seed buy list. It's not available, and I'm frankly quite concerned about the California Wildfires affecting the breeders and the market in seeds. Prices have jumped up in a couple of places. Some of the exotic strain auctions were commandig huge prices already.

I'm probably just going to grow out some of my accidental homemade seeds this winter alongside the strains I have until something special comes my way. I tried growing them, other seeds in the summer and got a long string of males. I'm hoping the slightly lower temps of winter and the abundant water of hempy this winter will give me more females.

Oh wait... what is it if you take a clone and reverse it, take that pollen and pollinate the clones sister clone and make seeds?? :scratchinghead::nomo:

Arkansas breeding?

Today, I'm feeling nervous about starting seeds in perlite. I almost always soak seeds for 2-3 days before planting, I just got so excited to try out a new technique that I forgot

Dark Devil Auto is my first attempt at an autoflower. I've seen you and Sweetsue and a couple of other people grow them - noone says, I wish I hadn't grown that plant :)

Looks like some pretty large girls in VEG there. Next round should be fun. I'm thinking ropes are in your future!

I started out my first grow vegging 24x18x18" with a 12" thick canopy and ended up with 10" of stretch and 2.5 oz plants.

With the sativas this year I've been aiming for a 4" thick canopy at least 18x18" before flower and averaging 30" of stretch and 3 oz plants.

None of my girls in veg are close to flowering size by those standards.

I don't have the megalights you have - and my veg area just seems slow compared to everyone else - 2 months from a cutting on the last Carnival clone that went into flower is FAST veg for me.

I'm looking forward to seeing how fast the hempy girls grows. Faster is probably better :)

I washed the roots off the little clone of reveg Bubba's gift. 40 days in soil and this is all the roots she grew!

20171019_131057.jpg

Bubba's Gift is now in a hempy. Unless she GROWS in the next month, I'm tossing her.

20171019_171855-1.jpg

This was the last of the girls that will move from soil to perlite.

The two girls left in soil will be grown out in soil. One of them, a Carnival, moved into a 7 gallon pot today

20171019_172041-1.jpg

Seedling UltraDawg will be transpanted to her big pot soon.

20171019_172037-1.jpg

My veg area is almost full of green buckets now :)

20171019_172052.jpg

My last remaining clone, AK47 will have enough roots in another 2-3 days.

20171019_172104-1.jpg

I finished washing the last 10 gallons of perlite today

20171019_172201-1.jpg

I made a soil, greenery, cardboard, and perlite dust lasagna in my backyard for the worms and bugs to enjoy.

20171019_172642-1.jpg

I'm done with the initial setup of my hempy grow :yahoo::cheer:

I now consider myself in hempy (and soil) routine gardening mode.
:circle-of-love:

I purchased AK47 XTRM, Borderliner XTRM and White Widow XTRM as the "Cup Winners Feminized" seeds packet from AMS about 2.5 years ago (for about 1/2 what AMS sells them for today.)

I really like the AK47 XTRM and Borderliner XTRM and have been running them since. The White Widow XTRM wasn't as good as the first White Widow (non-fem) seed from AMS - and AMS is probably not the best White Widow out there. From what I read, the original White Widow/Black Widow required a pheno hunt of up to 20 seeds to find the 'good' phenotype - I don't have the space and patience for that kind of pheno hunting.

I'm not a dedicated strain hunter. Out of about 12 strains I have grown to harvest, my current top picks (in order) are: MoC Carnival, AMS AK47 XTRM, Delicatessen Lilly, and HSO Amherst Sour Diesel.

I'm hoping Ace Guawi and Haze x Kali China (in Flower), UltraDawg (veg), and Dark Devil Auto(coming soon) make it into my top strains list.

If I could grow anything out there based on smoke reports it would be Devil's Tit.

I would love to get my hands on some of the C99 x Colombian Gold hybrid seeds. I was just reading about the Snowhigh Seeds tonight and a lot of those strains sound very interesting.

Colombian Gold.... compared to modern hybrids... meh. We used to get Colombian Gold for $30 a zip with seeds. We got pissed when the price went up tho $35. That was 1970s prices... so yeah todays dollar prolly $100 a zip, thats about right. Nothing special. But back in the day it was Mexican Ragweed.. or Colombian Gold for the regs.. then we could get Maui Wowi and Thai Stick. Those 2 strains changed everything from then on.

Then Nixon/Ray-gun happened and good weed was hard to come by. But we could get coke by the buckets full.... crazy. Oh that's right we needed a reason for a war on drugs (and those dangerous hippies). :lot-o-toke:

The cool thing about hybrids is we get to breed the best of each different strain and come up with a killer strain. Problem now is the genetics are getting sooo watered down. Why I like SnowHigh gear. He's into keeping those landrace genetics intact and not inbreeding so much that we loose the goodness.

Many of his selections were made for breeders and not really the actual final product.

Snow is still at it, there was a recent refresh and some new selections I think at Oregon Elite... maybe it was SHN. I got me some.

I've recently sprouted some Snow gear - Purple Monkey Balls... HUGE disappointment, only 5 of 10 seeds popped and the ones that are growing are s l o w to get going ... I would have tossed the lot by now if it were from any other breeder. Likely my fault tho!
Still that hurt...my wallet!

On the DT - I let this round go longer, over 70+ days comparo to chopping at 56-60 days first few rounds. Wow huge difference, still a rocket shot out of the gate with glitter, but a much longer level flight down to earth and I can get a good nights sleep after.

Stretch on the DT is almost never ending.. 3x stretch while the flowers set, @ 10 days they just start to flower and the plants are still stretching. They keep getting taller all the way to buds which takes a while, then the gold shows and the buds start getting fatter @ 25 days. Then just a waiting game, water FTW.

It was a PITA growing out 10 REG seeds and selecting clones .. having to select clones before any flowers on a plant that takes 20+ days to really show her stuff.... guess work at best. I just took clones from each female at switch and kept the clones from the most vigorous fastest growing mother. At that point, the mother was soo big, no way to keep her. I think I smoked the last buds of her yesterday!

I've been looking at Mycotek and anything with the 3 Chems in it. They are readily available and the 3 Chems is basically NYCD... The original breeder says he traded for the original mother from Chemdog and back-crossed it and called it Diesel because the name "Chem" along with the smell, people thought it was tainted with chemicals... go figure.

What's really cool, is that what we do now right here; back in the early 2000s there were very few of us doing this. Now with all the forums and everyone sharing how to grow cannabis the final product keeps getting better and better and a lot more folks are hitting it. That will only help the emerging tide of acceptance by our society for legal cannabis.

Keep on growing... do what you do and share with others. Pass it on, side to side! :Namaste:

That Devils Tit sounds awesome. Hopefully they will release some more. Its definitely at the top of my list of strains to find!!

Its a brix foliar day, so let's take a look at the flower area

Haze x Kali China (48 days) - 38" tall, she spread and flopped all over the place in the stretch- since flower isn't crowded, I let her.
She is drinking a lot of water (about 5 quarts yesterday) and the pot was light and dry again today.

20171026_110123-1.jpg

Buds are small right now, but lots of them. I should probably get a less reflective lighter for the photo ops.

20171026_110032-1.jpg

Bubba's Gift - 4 months of reveg that never went well. No stretch and no new buds in flower. I'm chopping her tomorrow. I'm done with her.

20171026_110545-2.jpg

Carnival (16 days) - She's about 30" tall after 13" of stretch so far.

20171026_110826-1.jpg

She's has skinny branches right now. She's setting quite a few bud sites.

20171026_110850-1.jpg

Amherst Sour Diesel - Flowered early in the veg area, then 76 days in flower and she can't seem to finish. Harvesting her tomorrow.) I would have harvested her today, but I had a mid-day pedicure. My feet now love me again.)

20171026_111716-1.jpg

She has good buds. Her clone never rooted. - Darn reveg! - So this is the end of her line. I planted my last ASD seed to replace her a few days ago.

20171026_111736-1.jpg

Guawi (31 days) She's about 4 feet tall and I think she's almost done with stretch.

20171026_111932-1.jpg

Her buds are coming in slow, but she has that slow lanky sativa feel to her. Carnival will likely harvest ahead of her.

20171026_111942-1.jpg

If those 3 girls hadn't flowered in the veg room, they would be entering flower now (give or take 2 weeks.) I will be down to 3 girls in flower for the next 3 weeks or so. I'll miss the 6 oz or so they would be growing if they hadn't flowered early.

By Thanksgiving (USA) we should be seeing 4 hempy in the flower area. For now, we wait.

Congrats on the seed nursery n hempy setup hope they go good 4u n nice job on the clone r all ur hempy girls guna be done with osmocote +

Seed nursey has NOT popped either seed above ground. I'm concerned I wasted my best 2 seeds on a a novel idea that doesn't quite work

If it works, I'll do my hempy in osmocote+ only. If it only sort of works, I'll make adjustments. I like simplicity.
