Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

Hey there Rad.. looking good there buddy... Early harvest is a good thing. Take advantage of it when you can. Just be sure you're sure you wanna cut earlier... no new pistols and cloudy, looks good! Some girls just don't want to take 9 weeks .. you're in the window of oppertunity and the colas are HUGE.

Win win... you have some VEG girls ready?

Dam rado lookn amazing im jus starting to get sum smell goin on wen i walk into my flower tent my early vixen is starting to smell sour berry kinda smell woth alot of pinesol smell locked in so all gud there jus got a small problem with my veg girl doc oc has started to yellow out of no where as soon as my other fan arrives ill be throwing her into flower jus leting her bulk up alil b4 i do sense it gets to hot in there 2 run all my lights right now i have 2 of my mars hydro 300s off til the fan arrives in the mail then hopefully i will be all gud on the heat issue but yea got any tips for my yellowing doc oc in veg??

If heat is an issue, you can move your veg lights higher while you resolve it.
I think you had an outstanding question about the red light in veg that you just put in - or am I crossing threads in my brain.

I usually get yellow in veg when the girls are getting root bound and wanting a larger pot to play in. That and overwatering.

I think heat is probably your challenge. You might have to veg a bit slower with less heat from your lights while you resolve the heat issue.

I wish I knew what to say except first try fixing the things that seems not right - and you've been doing that. .

Just curious, why do you prefer to harvest your info as at 50 cloudy/ 50 clear?

My wife, the one who consumes most of every harvest, prefers her indicas with just a touch of amber.

We don't know what she prefers in sativas. So far, both sativa harvests have been mostly cloudy with shriveling and stretching trichomes - and they are nice and potent and tasty. :)

- - - 50/50 is just where we are today. I'm not ready to harvest yet.

Noone ready in veg yet. My plants stayed in 1-gal pots a bit long because I didn't have soil ready. Since transplanted to 10-gal pots, they are growing roots not branches.

The largest girl in veg is the CBD Critical Cure pictured before, who has barely 3" of canopy at 15" tall. I'd like another 6" growth from her before flowering.

I have time to let the girls in flower keep flowering as long as they need.

- - - I've decided four 10-gal pots are a little big for me to fit into the veg area. I just placed an order to replace the 10-gal GeoPots with 7-gal GeoPots,. Once they arrive, I will have ten 7-gal pots:6 for flower, 4 for veg. Now I need to round up a few more 1-gal pots for early veg. I think I have enough soil.

Lets open the discussion up to people who know a lot more than I do, Three days ago this is part of a post I saw on your thread:

What is different now?
Is Doc Oc in veg or flower?
What's your Heat and Humidity?
When you water, do you pour in a measured amount? or do you water-wait-water until water comes out the bottom of the bucket?
How frequently?
Is there anything elseyou can think of to tell folks here what might be going on with Doc Oc?

k thanx I think ill jus take top branches as well then hopefully it all works out I cant wait to give it a shot lol well here is a small early v. update doc oc has some yellowing going on on some of her leaves and she seems to be droopy a lot more is tht cause of needing more water?? K so she is in veg n the temp is like 85 86 degrees f n humidity is 36 but im guna be getting a cold air humidifier for tht as soon as i get my check n i water wen she is dry about 2 ana half cups ro water or tea depending on the day every 2 r 3 days

How often are you needing to water the Critical Cure Rad? She looks real nice, by the way. :battingeyelashes: Mine have always taken looooong breaks between drinks. Makes it difficult to get drenches in during veg.

I need to swing by the DDA thread before bed. I was checking out DDA6's trichomes tonight and noticed the stalks are filled with red oil. I've never had that happen, to my knowledge. At least I don't remember it ever happening. I forgot to share that while I was there earlier. :laughtwo:

I was just admiring your Early Vixen photos -- and a beautiful girl she is - then I saw this massive hand in the photo! Either that, or those aren't 5 gallon buckets.

Are you running Build-A-Soil soil & organic teas in 2-gallon buckets?

If these girls are in only 2-3 gallons of soil, I don't think you have enough soil to be living soil that feeds your roots. I think Doc Oc is running out of soil and nutrients. I'm not saying Living soil can't be done in 2-3 gallons, but 5 gallon or more would be easier.

I checked the card on CBD Critical Cure. She has been watered every 5-8 days since I started using nutes on her 30-ish days ago. She has had 2 Growth Energy (GE) feedings (2 ml and 5ml) and 3 Transplant waterings (XW) at 1/4 strength. At the same time, she was moved from 1-gal of soil to 7-gal of soil, so she had lots of fresh cooked soil to feed on.

I figure 6 gallons of new soil with it's worm compost and amendments is as good as getting 6 good feedings :)

Now don't go tempting me with your magic red oil which can be fresh harvest infused into vegetable oils. That oil comes from a dark, dark flower that entices one to purple visions with it's fragrant, white pistils. I've learned about the wiles of the crone who offers sweet rewards to those who follow her path through the forest.

I recently planted a bare root rose "Stormy Weather." The lightning has been crashing and the thunder rumbling for hours today. The clock just tolled midnight. I will not be tempted down the path of Dark Devil Auto tonight.

Bubba's Gift has a nice aroma in flower to be sure - my nose stops processing it after about 30 seconds.

I looked at the buds today - no new pistils. At 53 days, I think she is headed for the finish line.

20170510_101648-1.jpg

The HPS and the camera make this look cloudy to almost amber, which is my preferred indica dom harvest point.
My eye says 50% clear / 50% cloudy.

Because I haven't been able to get a good clone, I'm planning to harvest the top 2/3 and try to reveg her to get a clone. If the quick dry bud is a favorite on harvest day, I may take the whole plant and pay for some more seeds. This plant has had me more confused than any plant in a long time :)

The only girl that needed water today was CBD Critical Cure in late veg

Hi rad, how can you really tell the trichomes color. I have one of those generic little loupes with 30x and 60x mag but damn i cant seem to get a clear look. What do you use?

I focus on the trichomes that I see from the sides. I try to look through the trichome for a color change compared to the background color behind the trichome.

I use the 30x loupe or the 60x loupe, but I can see best with the unaided eye. That may not be typical, I am rather near-sighted. Until I was 40 I could focus on the pores on the side of my nose. Thanks to hardening of the iris those are out of focus these days, but I can still see fingerprints with the unaided eye.

Brix day flowering update

I spent a good 90 minutes in the 80 degree heat of the basement garden today. The pictures I took pretty much suck, so this will be a quick update.

Lilly (27 days) - 4 days after second cat drench - she grew 1 inch in the last week, so she is done stretching at 39".

20170511_114442-2.jpg

These are the most sativa looking buds I have grown

20170511_115306-1.jpg

Even the lower buds look long, thin, and have upright pointing pistils.

20170511_115335-2.jpg

AK47 - 4 days in flower area. I posted photos 4 days ago. Not much has changed. She has barely started to stretch,

20170511_120120-1.jpg

Ace Mix (27 days) - 4 days after second cat drench. About 41" tall, she wants to grow lots of bud.

20170511_121023-1.jpg

20170511_121110-1.jpg

Humboldt Seed Organization's Bubba's Gift (54 days) - After I watered with a little tea, I decided not to foliar spray, she is done.

20170511_122045-1.jpg

I removed the top half of the plant by trimming off the big, mature buds of the canopy.

20170511_123832-2.jpg

The bottom half of Bubba's Gift went back into the veg area. I want to reveg and clone.

If I have other soil ready to use, I mix the barely used soil back into the ready to be used pile.

If not, I replant my small pots with another seed or clone. Any deficiency in the soil will be a non-issue when you transplant into larger pots of soil.
