Cloner failure

A cloner issue has presented itself after 2 years in use.

For the third day in a row, the cloner nozzle and pump inside the cloner bucket fell on it's side. The clones are mostly dead.

The one clone I needed, Amherst Sour Diesel(ASD), had just started on a root after 30 days waiting.
As of today, the stem has shriveled to dry brown. After I stabilize the pump, I''ll need to take more clones from ASD (now in flower.)

Trimming - After bud washing, I brought a 5 gallon bucket of buds to an eager trimmer. She put down her scissors for this photo

Heheh, is there a copy of The Little Red Hen in the house? Nice ethic - I approve.

Nice phat harvest - grats! :bravo:

Well done, Rado! The AK adventure went great. I hope you can get your cloner working again. Have fun! :bravo:  :Namaste:

I think I'me going to go find a couple of rocks and use them to wedge the pump into position. It has been held onto the bottom of the cloner bucket by an underwater suction cup, and the suction has failed.

Today was a busy day - Regular watering and feeding plus:
Repotted ACE MIx into 10 gal pot. Used up my mixed soil.
Amended and started cooking 10 gal of 2nd run soil from the harvested AK47.
Mixed, amended, and started cooking 10 gal of 1st run soil
Replaced extension cord in the veg area.
Moved Bubbas Gift into flower area.
Took clones from Bubba's gift.
- did not look for rocks for the cloner. :)

Happy Harvest at ya :ciao:

nice looking moosehead, I cannot remember the last time I had one, but my failing memory doesnt surprise me....:yummy:

Thanks to you and all others for the congratulations and reps. My wife was discussing beers with the young man of the house. She mentioned that Moosehead was the favorite teenage brew of the young man's favorite local brewmaster. I hadn't had a Moosehead since I was a teenager, because I'm not a fan of lagers, but the young man of the house is a fan of lagers so I bought him a 6 pack of Moosehead to sample. He likes it.

WoW...seems like just a short time ago you started the room build...and now Yer' harvesting...I have been following along...albeit, thru notifications a lot of the time...I tend to follow a lot of HB grows these daze while on vacation in Mexico...heading home in a week(another month would make more sense...living north of the 49th) and will have to start making some decisions on which way I would like to proceed this year...Good job so far Rad...cheerz...h00k...:Hookah:

Graduation Day - Bubba's Gift

When a plant comes out of the flower area in a perpetual grow, that means a space has opened up for a plant in veg to 'graduate' into flower. With the size I am vegging and the size of the flower area, it works out to 4 plants in the flower area, 2 under each light. AK47 was an exception. Started as 1 in a group of 4 (each a different strain,) AK47 was a foot taller in veg and ready to go into the flower area 3 weeks before her shorter gal pals. When the other 3 were ready, she was 3 feet taller than the others, making it hard to share a light, so 2 were put in flower under the free light, and the last of the 4 was left in veg.

Because AK47 had a light to herself, we have 2 free space under a light for plants in veg. The top 2 candidates are:

Humbolt Seed Organization - Bubba's Gift

and Ace Seeds - Lilly.

20170318_153135-1.jpg

I could have also shown a photo of Ace Mix, Hawaiian Skunk, or the AK47 clone - they are all about the same size as Lilly.

I don't want to raise any more plants delivering less than 2 oz, and Lilly looks like she would yield 1 oz at most. so she isn't ready to graduaute. Bubba's Gift gets a light to herself. I considered waiting a month for Lilly to get larger and running them as a pair, but at $120 per half oz - I can run a 600W HPS for a month for less than $120. Weed in a jar is like money when you might otherwise run out and have to spend money to buy weed.

When Lilly is ready to graduate, I expect her to take a spot alongside Bubba's Gift - followed soon after by Ace Mix and Hawaiian Skunk. We queue, but we don't stand on schedules here. We'd like to, but schedules vary - like when AK47 clones root in 8 days, Borderliner clones root in 15 days, and Amherst Sour Diesel clones root in 30+ days but now will be retaken because the cloner failed. I don't pay much attention to how many days girls spend in veg. Plants graduate when they are ready and there is a space available in the flower area. :)

HSO Bubba's Gift - 12" tall with a canopy roughly 12x17" - I trained her flat like a pizza box on a stick.

20170318_155714.jpg

This is my most scrog like plant ever - She is a barely differentiated mass of leaves and bud sites. I'm curious to see how she flowers..

If I lean under the other light and look down, I can just see Bubba's Gift behind Borderliner (who was the same height 30 days ago. :) )

Cloner - Reneck Repair

I'm going to start out with a disclaimer: I'm not a redneck, I'm a city boy. My dad, however, was raised on a farm and a handyman of the baling wire and chewing gum school of repair. He'd use duct tape, but that was considered a specialty product, for sewer line repair and such.

My CloneBucket cloner is has a little pump with a PVC pipe and a 'sprayer' made by drilling small hiles in a PVC end cap.

20170319_123533-1.jpg

Three days in a row, I discovered the bucket empty of water. The pump and sprayer kept falling over like and spraying water in the wrong places.

20170319_123526-1.jpg

The problem is the suction cups on the bottom of the pump are over 2 years old and they don't suck anymore.

20170319_123543-1.jpg

After 24 hours of thinking, I found some old pottery and a spice jat and used them to jam the pump into position

20170319_123645-1.jpg

My cloner doesn't suck anymore but it works again :)

Nobody thinks about fixing stuff anymore - they just shrug and toss it ... :hmmmm:

3 inch tall electrical fire

Recently, while I was repotting and moving plants around, I raised up the lights on those little ratcheting cords (love those things.)

I had a small 2-prong extension cord with a dial type inline switch - the kind you really don't see much anymore -running a tall room fan and large humidifier. Rated at 6 amp and powering 3 amps I figured it was up to the job.

As I raised and bumped the lamp, the end rubbed against the dial switch and moved it to a position where it arced and produced about a 3 inch flame- as if there were a large candle burning inside the switch. The electrical short, on a 2 wire circuit was not large enough to trip the circuit breaker, so it just fed the flame. When I blew upon the flame, that tripped the GFCI for my veg area circuit, leaving me in the dark with smoke from the fried extension cord.

I replaced the faulty extension cord with a non-switched, outdoor rated, 15 amp extension cord

If you have an extension cord with a dial switch anywhere in your house, I suggest you throw it away.

Every extension cord I use is outdoor rated for 20a. I absolutely LOVE Harbor Freight
