Radogast 2 - Return of the Clones

Yes. I love the concept of indicators. Instead of "it's a weed, pull it," it's open ears to Gaia's voice. I have a list of indicator plants for all kinds of stuff: pH, deficiencies/abundances, water conditions, if you're interested.

Love to hear 'em

If you don't mind, you could drop them in my non-420 Garden Creation Thread
Radogast's Non-420 Garden Creation Thread

Or pm, or here- whatever :)

Today I started home from work and did basement gardening.

The fire dept was here at 9AM to inspect the new furnace. I moved all the cannabis into the flower room and locked the door.
After the 5 minute inspection, I moved all the pieces out of hiding back into the basement smoking lounge and moved the seedlings back into the basement garden room. I now had all day for getting muddy with soil. :)

Fifty Wolfsbane seeds in flats.
Three Blessed Thistle seedlings in 1/2 gallon pots.
Five Paw paw seeds in 1 gallon pots.
Five Aloe Vera seeds in a single 4" pot.

Details in my non-420 garden thread (see signature.)

I also decided to shut down the flower room, (the 11 month old scraggly clones aren't worth 1oz if I flower now.)
Took eight clones(C2), two each from (C1) mother plants.
I'll keep the (C1) mothers alive until the new clones are in soil, but the seedlings get priority under the CFLs.

Those seedlings in the background are looking good Rad. You've got a grow going again.

This will be fun. I missed following you last time in real time.

I talked with a nursery today who doesn't sell pumice in pea gravel and larger sizes.
She DID pass on the number of her mining and materials wholesaler, who was out of office.
I've no idea if the wholesaler will bother with a small sale, but they might be able to refer me to a local retailer for special order.

I'm folllowing up the leads on pumice.

That wholesaler might be able to sell you a smaller quantity. Compliment him. Men like that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

very nice :high-five:

looking rad my friend :laughtwo:

I like the look of your garden room. It looks cozy and comfy.

I'm glad you're going to get a fresh start. Many hobby-growers seem to look at weak/f**ked up plants as some sort of personal challenge. Farmers are much more hard-hearted about it. There's an old saying: (loosely translated) When the hen stops laying, invite her to dinner.

I was ready to sacrifice the clones long time ago except A) I couldn't even grow a seedling and B) one white Widow had an almost hallucinogenic high combined with a deep indica couchlock so I wanted to save the genetics C) the mothers were named plants and the family was emotionally attached. I think my attachment was in that order.

It would have been easy to admit defeat on the clones if other plants were thriving. Admitting defeat on indoor gardening, after 95% failure of outdoor seeds to germinate could have ended my gardening career, possibly for life.

P.S. There is wisdom in your old family sayings :)

All good reasons. That's why so few farmers name their animals (except horses). It makes culling much more difficult.

None of this is meant as a criticism of hobby-growers. I am one myself.
I would never have said anything to quell your perseverance, but I am psyched to see you paint w/more vibrant colors.

Having vegged my clones for 47 weeks without them being strong enough to flower,
I'm pretty sure I have earned more than a tiny bit of criticism.

If justice brings her scales my way, I'm ready for 1/4 lb harvests per plant.

Rad I know how you feel about the clones. I had this amazing mother "M" as I called her. She grew for more than two years, trimmed and transplanted, trimmed the roots at times etc. I had 36+ plants cloned from her over the years. Then I transplanted it into a cloth pot, trimmed some of the roots first, and some how it just didn't take like it had done before. It died on me, I killed it...by accident :( Lack of water I think due to the cloth pot...not sure but it was a loss I still feel. It is a bit like losing a pet - maybe not that emotional but still lingers.

I can't wait to see your successes especially using the LOS. I really want to try that but it may take me a year or more to get the ingredients and a compost bin large enough to sustain the same numbers I currently do with soil out of a bag. ;) I need to be convince about the indoor composting not smelling or becoming a nuisance with pests.

I also need a new regular strain to see if my results are genetic or systemic as far as hermies go. But it is hard to let go of the new "M" from hermie seeds at this point - they hermie too but the plant is an awesome high. Someday... :)

You are not alone in failures - :)
:peace:

Sometimes a thing gets broke and can't be fixed.

Its time to put on my long brown coat and point Serenity to a new gorram planet.
That's like from my favorite science fiction series/movie ever...cool :) and I totally get it.
