Radogast 2 - Return of the Clones

I want to hear this story.

He told me if I wanted to garden like that buy a place in the country. Guilty as charged. $275 fine with court costs tacked on. It was one of those days when you realize that the Land of The Free applies mostly to people with more money.

I live in a "right to farm" community. About all they can regulate is wetlands use (huge law), unscheduled fires, hunting, and cannabis.

I was ramping up my bloom room over the last few days and ran into a hitch. I was backing down my 24hr timer everyday on the MH and when I got to 18 I turned on my HPS. The room went dark after an hour but I didn't notice until 12 hours later. I have everything running through a heavy duty but old surge protector and the little breaker/reset switch opened effectively shutting down all fans lights etc. I had previously run testing with everything ON including manually spiking the CO2 regulator and nothing tripped so I thought I was good. I was disappointed and had to think quickly so I just set the room on 12/12 without the MH as I had run the entire last grow. Today I realized I could probably test again running a separate outlet for the MH. The entire basement is on one circuit but the circuit breaker didn't open just the surge protector. So I gotta go do that now, hoping I can do it I really want that extra spectrum in the room this time.

We all have our problems and solutions in the grow experience right?

:peace:

I have two main rules with electricity, always wire for extra capacity.
Use the right equipment.
Unless you have a device recommending a surge suppressor, it is the wrong equipment and should only be used on the specified devices.

Yeah, at the time we were living on a busy corner in a neighboring community and I had a wonderfully overgrown perennial flower garden with heritage plants and a fair share of "weeds". I mean, if no one allows thistle to grow how will the goldfinches feed their young? Members of the community would always stop to converse while I gardened and most loved the explosion of blossoms and perfumes the garden provided. Obviously not everyone was enamored with my wild-and-free technique. They made me cut it all down to 24". A sad, sad day.

I'm guessing you have a bored soccer mom to thank for that.

Blessed Thistle, Cnicus Beneductus, only grows to 24". I guess it's not a real thistle.

As a child I always loved the flower borders in the edges of lawns and near houses A LOT more than lawns.
As I've gotten older, I realise I was pretty smart as a child!

My first thought on seeing a lawn is usually "I've seen happier desert."
I am so anti-lawn I have to remind myself that grasses can be useful plants when people stop mowing them.

Thought of you when I seen this rado. It's 50 min but a good short video for your future practices I believe.

I&I

Finally found time to sit at a computer and watch this (NOT doing a 50 minute video on my cell phone without headphones.)

In general it confirms my thoughts about where I am going.

Malted barley tea was good info. I plan to do more living mulch. (Got a little clover going this grow.)
I'm going more the route Sweetsue does with the timing of sprouted seed tea (SST) and herbal teas being on a soil based schedule rather than a plant based schedule.

One idea than propped into my brain was to transplant my Thistle and other broad leaf soil building plants into the top tray of my worm factory.
I dint know if it's a good idea or not  still considering. :)

Yep. At least one of the seedlings is recovering using low PH water.

Loving the clover Rad. We'll look back on these "before" shots and laugh. That's the plan.

What a sweet sight. Just in time for spring. I'm sending positive, loving energy. :green_heart:

Fantastic to see the new growth so happy :) Do you have any ideas what made your medium so basic as to need pH 6 water for nutrient availability ?

From the looks of it, this wick is used for smoking ?? How does that work ?

Hemp wicks are my fav

Had a friend in bellingham wa that makes them, or u can order them from Hawaii I believe Polly more places now too.

Hemp string + bees wax = hemp wick

Light it with a lighter and have a flame for the circle. No tane taste And makes a lighter last.

About pH, from my experience 6.0 is the sweet spot however 6.5 may be the better pH for led, as I'm on my 3rd led and still figuring led out, i have a calcium defficency on my led side right now but am feeding cal mag with every feed. Now if these "bs charts" are true, 6.5 is when cal mag is taken in by cannabis. Me doing 6.0 to both hps and led I'm not allowing cal mag to be taken in. I will adjust my feeding for led to 6.5 on next grow for led and see if i still get cal Defficency But keep my hps 6.0

I have multiple mediums in both veg and flower. 6.0 goes to them all but my led side will now get 6.5 in the future.

As u can see.. 35 plants packed solid, no yellowing.
6.0 ph
coco medium
happy frog
peat moss mix (won't use peat moss again)
14 diff strains all take 6.0

The hemp wick is used to light pipes and bongs. A lighter always burns hotter and harsher than a lit bowl.
Hemp wick burns at the same temperature as hemp in the bowl, so you don't notice anything when lighting up.
So a smoother smoke. :)
In my case, that also means I tend to take bigger rips than I planned. RoorRip

Dr Earth soil mixed with peat moss, and Dr. Earth alone caused medium high rise in the water PH passing through the soil.
Dr. Earth was definitely high PH.
Hydro store soil, same store and product as my first grow, caused Very high rise in the water PH passing through the soil.
The soil I trusted was even higher PH.

There was no detected change in water PH passing through the coco coir,
So my plants (not in coco coir) are all experiencing higher PH than gfcollective's plants.
