Quix's Corner - Puddle-o-Green - NL & Bag Seed - Indoor Soil Experiment

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Now that's whatcha like to see my friend!

They look like they're ready to kick some @$$!

Thanks bro I sure hope so!! We'll see if I can keep from ruining them with all the cloning and LSTing I plan to try!!

Hi Buddy! ;)
Who doesn't like to see healthy sprouts coming up? :high-five:
The next generation of happy brain makers. :bravo:

Hey OMM! The only people who don't like baby pics are politicians and Ebaneezer Scrooge!! Hopefully I can help them live up to their full potential! (not the politicians:)

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

So I really only planned on doing photo updates once a week, but I'm just having a good time watching how healthily these two are growing, and how quickly...The little talk I had with them about out performing their predicessors (<how the hell do you spell that?) must have worked....Anyway, they broke ground on 4-20/4-21, so day 8&9...

Now off to make bud butter with an oz of my last haul, wish me luck!!!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

I just put an oz through the blender, I'm going to make butter, but I couldn't resist rollin a few joints first. I've yet to smoke a j of my harvest, and this is just toooooo much FRESH ground herb not to!!

Ill be straining and squeezing in about a half an hour....
I took a lick off the stirr stick first thing, about an hour ago, and it's starting to kick in a little....Pretty nice high so far.... I cant wait to try baking muffins and other goodies!!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

So I found OC+, I can litterally throw a stone and hit the place that has it. I really wanted to try it in my soil, but they only had a large thing of it, for 25 bucks. I just couldnt justify the expense....Bummer....

And here's the budder once fully cooled in the fridge...

I put about 1/2 tblspn on a slice of cinnamon raisin toast about 2 hours ago, and I'm feeling pretty good. I think tomorrow I'll find a good low temp recipe for cookies, and see what this stuff is really made of....:reading420magazine:

Hey bro good luck on your cooking sojourn, I gotta say it doesn't look that appetizing in the pics lol!

Is that the normal big OC+... about the size of a small watering can? I just picked some up for $14.99 at my local Meijer, they had a bunch of it. My local lowes, home de pot & wally world don't carry it. You can order it from acehardware.com, they'll ship it free to the closest store, I think they charge 17 or 18 for it. Even at $25 it's a good deal compared to normal nutes but no sense paying extra for it if you don't have to. You can easily grow 25 plants with that.

Take care Q!

Man you gotta quit using words like "sojourn" and "Meijer"...(at least when i'm doing the edibles haha)....I know what a sojourn is, but Meijer???!!!! What the heck is that!!?? lol...Thisn budder is quite impressive...long lasting, almost numbing...

Thanks for the heads up on where to get the oc+ for cheaper! If it had been that cheap at the store I'd have bought it...I know it'll last quite a while, I just wasn't in the position to do it today....I think I need to go to bed!!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Haha sorry Q! I keep threatening to make some edibles but I still haven't gotten around to it.

Meijer is a pretty big regional chain kinda like walmart, groceries and everything else in one giant store. I thought they were national but apparently not, I think they're based in Grand Rapids Michigan.

I've gotten a bunch of stuff from there for growing - cfl's, the airstones for my bubblers, the trash cans I did my last grow in, the blue plastic spray paint for the 2L's etc etc.

I swear the only things I ever spend money on anymore are food, gas and grow supplies :tokin:

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Hey Quix - been meaning to sub to your grow for a while. Still need to get fully caught up, but I can't wait to follow along if you'll have me! I know that 25$ sounds like a lot for the OC+, but if you only knew what I spend on my hydro nutes... Yikes! I've spent $100 in the last 2 weeks just to replenish SOME of my nutes. Having said that, I know all about tight budgets. I'm thinking of trying the OC+ route someday myself for that very reason.

By the way, was checking out results of your first grow at the beginning of your journal. :bravo: my friend. Nice first grow - sincerely!

I love edibles, too, by the way. I make brownies about once a month because edibles are so much fun.

Anyway...

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Hey Quick! :)

Man that's allot of butter. Did it smell to high heaven while you were dong it?
Jo won't even come in this room, actually I like that!

I guess I'm gonna have to do some edibles. Last time I had any it was 1975. :smokin2:

Don't listen to Blue, he over does it. :) I can get at least 30 plants from one of those big OC+ containers. I too lucked into some OC+. Over on the Marine Base
they have a Garden Center. The lady that runs it is a toker too. I noticed she had two new containers of OC+ priced at $25.95, but behind those there were 5 of them priced at $14.95. I asked and she said "My bad, you cane have them at that price!". Got them all! :grinjoint:

Like Blue and Xlr8 said when you have a little extra money, OC+ is still a bargain. Hope you had a good sleep.

OMM, only you could figure out that someone working at a Marine base was a toker lol!

I do apply the OC+ on the heavy side, why not? You can't really over do it and I don't want to run out. Exactly the kind of thinking that got me in trouble with conventional nutes, but not OC+.:tokin:

Is there a term for what's happening to me? Grow creep? Even though I'm using OC+ I now feel like a chemist when making their water.... pondzyme, cal/mag, silica, snowstorm, sns A or B, superthrive and of course pH down. If I was using some of these multi-part nutes I'd have to start making the brew 3 days in advance :high-five:

:peace:

Ha! If I'll have you?? Of coures you're welcome to hang out brother!
:welcome: Thanks a million for the kind words on my last run man, it was an adventure, and I did ok, but have much room for improvement!

I know the oc+ is a good deal, but I already have the Grow Big by FF, as well as the FF Tiger Bloom for flower, and I'll be transplanting into FFOF in about a week. These factors alone will make for a better grow than my last, as I was in MG soil with MG perlite and sphag moss, and used MG tomato food all through veg.... I just didnt have the money this week. Maybe next run.

Anyway, you're always welcome here, feel free to stop in anytime bro!:Namaste:

Hi OMM!:) Yes, I know Blue likes to be thourough with his nutes:grinjoint: But I cant say I wont listen to blue, lol, he always seems to be able to point out things that I'm missing, and has done pretty well considering the obsticles he's encountered!

Re: The butter...YES, it DID have a strong smell, my girl said it made her slightly nautious, but it didnt seem that bad to me. Not the typical weed smell, but strong nonetheless. Pretty good high too. I made it from my Northern Lights. You get a lot more of the body high when you eat it, and the indica really came through, without the couch lock which I really like. Kinda warm and tingly. I'm going to make peach cobbler tonight with it!!(Per the wifey's request)

Good find on the OC+ man! I know that even at 25 bucks it's a good deal, I just didnt have it this time.....Another thing I'm leary of, is the fact that it has a tendancy to delay the finish times a bit from what i've been reading, and I REALLY want to do a GOOD flush this time toward the end to see how much I can improve flavor. Quality before quantity is my motto on this one...See ya soon!!

Aaahh thanks for clearing that up bro! I was starting to think I was really uncultured(I am)....I guess we dont have them, cuz I've never heard of them. Cool that you have somewhere to get stuff like that that isn't wally world, I kinda hate 'em....

Man, I KNOW you have some pretty big jars just sitting around getting old! I highly recommend doing the butter! Just put a zip through the blender, melt down a pound of unsalted butter(NOT MRGARINE),, boil a few cups of water in a seperate pot, then add that to the butter as a temp buffer to keep from burning the butter and the weed. I used a crock pot on warm, for around 12.5 hours, turning it up to medium for the last 45 minutes or so. There are multiple methods, and IMO they probably all work. But this worked for me, and I dont think there's an exact science to it if it's just for fun...TRY IT bro!!:peacetwo:

Hi Quixilvir :)

I gotta pull Blue's leg every once is a while, keeps him grounded. :grinjoint: Blue is a fine grower and best of all he's willing to try anything once. That's the way we learn.
Man I haven't had a real down home peach cobbler in 50 years. Yours will extra special. :) Save me a piece! :grinjoint: Yep, you better grow without OC+ this time, no way to flush it at all. There are some folks who just put OC+ in a piece of lady's hose and lay it on top of the soil. Then remove it to flush.
Since I really can't taste much of anything I don't worry about it.:)

Enjoy that cobbler my friend. :ganjamon:

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

I might get some disagreement on this, but I'll post it anyway. My experience, and I've tried both ways at least a couple of times now, is that the flush really helps remove chemical taste from the trim leaves, but the buds are fine even without a flush as long as they are dried and cured properly. There are some long time, good growers who don't flush at all anymore because they also believe this and have experimented with it and decided flushing was a waste of time.

Again, it is debatable, and everyone has their own experience and preference, but that's my personal actual hands on perspective and experience. Having said that, I flush when I can to make absolutely certain I have the best flavor possible. But, I've harvested two plants now without a flush and the taste of the buds was extremely good, and did NOT taste like chemicals, etc. (Again, you still need a good dry and cure).

I'm only throwing that out there in case that's the major deciding factor in someday trying OC+. I doubt you'd notice taste/quality difference due to lack of flush. For what it's worth. :)

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

OK, since I'm gonna have a bit of material (OK a LOT :)) for the butter and I'd love to try some edibles. Would you mind breaking down that process a little further for the butter making impaired?

Thanks in advance my man!
