QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Propa--um, ok. I don't see any red with my lights but I am totally clueless when it comes to things electrical. In my simple mind, I was going with brighter is better. The bulbs I got from the garden store are bright as hell but 4100k. Next time I go back I will look for 6500k. I definitely see the change from swapping out lights I had in the past.

I have been searching on Ebay for 175w or 200w hps. I am on a budget or I would try for better but I figure if I get that, it is better than what I am working with now.

4100K is very good, don't change that. If you have on hand a 'soft' white 2700K bulb,
light it near the others and the color difference will be plain.

250 watt is basic entry level HPS. 250 watt HPS Grow Light is excellent, and the lowest price that I've seen.
I use mine to drive a CMH Retro-fit by Philips, but the included HPS bulb is fine.
Look around that site, it's where I shop.

BTW, 400 is same price as 250 ;)

Hey Smoke if ya peeking in...The humidity is still fluctuating and I have been keeping water in the humidifier. Will this happen if the filter needs to be changed?

Check the filter if you have not already. it might be the problem ,either that or you need a new humidifier. Meh, $ it keeps adding up. but once you get a method that works and dial it in, you will be very happy for a long ,long ,long, hella long time. I'm seriously you guys.:peace:

I do have the lights next to each other and I can see the difference in brightness. I checked the link you provided, not bad though I did find one that was a little bit lower in price. Hopefully, it will still be there when I get paid, it will be my birthday present to myself.

Smoke--I hope its the filter because I just bought the thing maybe 2 months ago. Though I have been thinking of getting another one like the second one I bought since it is a little smaller.

Not much to report today, humidity is still dancing around between 20-25. The temp is at 70. Plant 1 and plant 2 I watered. Also, I finally tied down plant 1 with some thread. She is looking quite bushy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this plant is a female. Gonna stare at it later because I could've sworn I saw some pistils forming. The lemon skunk seed has come up a wee bit but hasn't shed her shell yet. And the blue mystic hasn't shown her root yet but maybe tomorrow. It took the lemon skunk 2 days.:high-five:

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

You know I have had issues with my lower Humidity and it seems to be fine. Not ideal but things go pretty smoothly. If I could, I would like to keep it in 40% range but it usually stays between 25-35% .

Since I have been putting this large fan in the door, the humidity has stayed between 30-40. I have been worried because I thought if it stayed low or bounces around that it could cause the plants to hermie. So, far they have been looking lovely.

Nothing much to report. Plant 1 is staying hungry, had to water her again. I think she is also starting to preflower. Seems like I am watering her now almost every 2 days. The other two plants are coming along well too. The sprouts have been doing their thing, I only had to pitch 2 that just looked too scrawny. The lemon skunk seedling has grown about a few inches but still has the shell on and the blue mystic has shown root I just want it to get a little longer before I put her in dirt. I would say prolly tomorrow. I will also post a pic of plant 1 now that she is tied down, she still is bushing up and out.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Humidity shouldn't cause any type of herm. It's usually caused by light leaks and genetics. Some things I have been thinking was since a female plant looks to be pollinated, i think the absence of pollination would in turn Stress the plant.

It is a different way of thinking about it but eh, it's just a thought.

TOG- Well, if you say there isn't anything to worry about....other than that I haven't had any issues with this grow....

Just wanted to post a few pics......

Here is plant 1 after I tied her down.

The next 3 are sprouts, my question is for them, should they be transplanted or are they alright in what they're in for a few?

The lemon skunk has grown but couldn't take a good pic of it..The blue mystic has shown more root since earlier when I checked but hopefully when I check it later tomorrow it will be long enough for me to put in dirt.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Your seedlings will be fine in what they are in for awhile. I had my Lemon Skunk seedlings in 16oz party cups for like a month with no issues(I wouldn't recommend it though) as long as you keep up with the feeding you should be fine.

Thanks, I was hoping I could. I am running out of space in my closet and haven't gotten the other closet set up yet. I hope to by next month. So what ya think overall with 1,2,and 3?

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

I am loving #1. Very bushy just the way I like it. It will fill in nicely once it gets some more height to it. #2 is also looking nice. The inner node growth is coming along nice. #3 is a bit behind but I think overall it will be pretty nice.

Your doing a great job. Once things start packing on some weight they will look beautiful.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

The Blue Mystic was ready for a dirt nap this morning, so she is nice and cozy now. The lemon skunk has shot up but still not out of the shell. I topped plant 1 and plant 2 again. I really want them to bush out of control. Temp is steady at 80 and rh is at 30. So all is good A couple of the sprouts are showing promise. Just need to get that closet together..Gonna try to do something but not sure what yet til the bills get paid to see what I have left to work with.

Just a random thought: why are cats attracted to mj? I have to constantly watch my kitty, Kharma. He's always trying to get in the closet. I can see him either eating one of my plants or knocking them over. I know cats like to eat grass when they have an upset stomach but I swear he does it to get a rise out of me when I am not paying him attention...lol

Hey,hey, that's it? A comment about my country crock container? Where is the love? *pouts*...I use what works, home slice...lol...And they are good to put stuff in. I refuse to spend money on some damn tupperware. Sooner or later I will invest in some small pots that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I get most of my pots for free. Go to your local big nursery. Ace, in my hood. They have plants die all the time and have pots sitting around. I just find the person in charge and ask for some. When they say yes. I then ask how many can I take. One trip yielded 20 1 gallon pots. I took them home and cleaned each one .:peace:
