QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

You MUsT use the 2 parts together. The grow does not contain phosphorus. Check out the feed chart on my site and follow the ratios listed :goodjob:
QT, the reason that the nutrients come in two parts is that some of the componets attack each other when concentrated. Once they're diluted, it's cool.
The Grow/Bloom designation is old school legacy IMO. A & B is enough for me.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Hey Kam, if you grow them at 12 /12 they will eventually flower on their own. If you can look up the strains you are growing, there are a few strains that have different flowering light needs. :peace:

eheh you realy are a pro my friend :) thx for the help once again :D

My plants are skunk and big bud ... but lets not fload our friends threat :P

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Propa-- So I should be using both of them when I give them nutes? The grow I have mixed is diluted and did not use full dose. If they're doing this well with just the grow then I can imagine how they will be when I include the bloom. Eh, about the second mistake I made in this grow but nothing major.

Corey--Thanks for the quick reply. I will look it over again. I have it bookmarked.

Kamy-- I am waiting on some Big Bud to come next. Maybe we can compare notes. Yeah, I was impressed on the speedy response too.

The ladies are still looking good. Humidity has dropped down to 25 percent. This still puzzles me. Humidifier is going. Temps are at 78. Once again I had to feed plant 1, she is a beast, stays thirsty the pot seems to get light lately almost every 2-3 days. The others 4-5 days. A lot of new leaves are still coming in, didn't lst it. I am a little nervous about doing it. Plant 1 has gone from 11 inches to 13 inches, the others have remained the same...8 and 10 inches....Now I am just anxious for the Lemon Skunk to germinate so I can get her going. I was looking up some info on the strain earlier. It said its yield is 600gr. When doing the calculations that came up to 21-22oz. Is this really what one plant yields? I know there were a few people working with this strain but I don't recall seeing what the yield was or their grow is not done yet.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

I hope you enjoy the Lemon Skunk as Much as I do. I am going to regrow some fem lemon Skunk. Did you go with Greenhouse or DNA lemon Skunk?

I went with Greenhouse. I hope I will too. Well, I am sure I will. I just hope it is not a difficult strain to grow. Otherwise I liked everything that I read about it so far.

QT, how much water is the humidifier using? There is usually a tank that you fill. If it empties fast this could be the culprit. Stay on top of it check it often. If its not using water then it might not be working properly. :peace::Love:

Not sure how much it is using, I usually fill it up every few days because it is running on the timer with the lights. But there was one day when it was empty so sir I believe you are right. Not that I ever doubted you, just call me your green groupie...as well to a few others on here.

Current end of the week update...Everything is sitting pretty...humidity is back to 40...temp is at 80...I did give them the BPN bloom yesterday, didn't know I was suppose to do both grow and bloom when I feed them. I really have a hard time understanding the BPN feeding chart. I get the weeks and lighting part, its the how to feed part since I don't know the conversion from ml to teaspoons or tablespoons. But I must be doing something right since there has been no issues with nute burn. I am still nervous about tying them down but I have been bending them so the new growth can get light. I think plant one is going to have more than 2 colas, kinda looks like 3. Oh well, enough rambling....on to the pics.

Here is plant 1-

Re: QT's Second Grow-1st journal/BPN Nutes

And this is just to show my set up. I do have a fan in the closet, ya just can't see it.
005653.JPG

after seeing this pic, I thought I would save it so I could comment on it if nobody else did, and I didn't see it, so I will say it!!! how many 2700K do you have in there??? during the veg stage, you should have more 6500K bulbs over 2700K then switch them when you do the flip to flower.

In general, I like my RH to be between 50-60% in veg, 40-50% during flower. I shoot for a target of 60% in veg, 40% in bloom, personally.

That low humidity you have is most likely stunting their growth some, and could be why they haven't grown more for their age. I would recommend a humidifier to bring it up above 50% at this stage, personally. I have a small ultrasonic cool mist humidifier from Walgreens or somewhere similar that works nicely in my tent. I think it was 30-40$, but makes a big difference especially when they're small like that...

This must be the issue for my Afgoo right now, she is not growin up as much as the GDP, granted I topped Afgoo, but she just falls further and further behind GDP. started out 1 inch shorter and as of now she is now almost to 2 inches behind.

@QT... You ARE on Team BPN. The mail man must have lost your enlistment packet....or I forgot to send it because i was too stoned :) Oh well, what rank do you want to be? lieutenant or colonel?
as for me, I have been reading an advanced plant physiology book for the past few hours (Mineral Nutrition of Higher Plants by Horst and Marschner).....I love that stuff!

Your plants are nice and bushy....i like em ;)

whheeew I thought it was my mess up!!! good thing that it was HR that messed up on that!!! No worries QTL, I am in charge of the Army list, its HR that sends me updates on new grows!!! but its all good, he has his hands full!!! I will include you into the Army list!!!

That was all I seen for a cause of concern right now, I see that you are pretty well covered on everything right now!!! Other than the bulb issue, you are doing good right so far!!! can't wait to see what you get from bagseed!!! its always a mystery!!! and congrats on your 2 confirmed strains!!! totally interested in that Big Bang!!! NL is a great strain and all crosses are all good!!!
was it NL or NL #5??? NL IMO is the better of the 2!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Aston-- Better late than never, who is HR? As for lights, I know 4 of them are 2700k daylight bulbs, the other 5 I am not sure. I actually forgot. Yeah, I know shame on me. I have to pay attention to details better....With this grow, I actually got confused on when the grow started, yeah I marked it on the calendar but I went crazy with germinating seeds. I marked on the calendar but I don't know which dates go with which plants. So I don't know if it is their growth being stunted or screwed up on the time. So, I am strictly eyeballing it unless someone can look and tell me what they think.

Mini-update---got the rest of my beans today...Blue Mystic, Blackjack which is a sativa, and Big Bomb. The Lemon Skunk has already germinated so when the lights come on I am going to put it in dirt. I think I am gonna do what Smoke does and leave the top part of the seed out of the dirt, just put the root in the dirt.

Hey Smoke if ya peeking in...The humidity is still fluctuating and I have been keeping water in the humidifier. Will this happen if the filter needs to be changed?

Forgot to ask: For planting the Lemon Skunk, do I have to start out in a cup? I plan on pulling one plant that I have in a 1 gallon pot. Can I start it in the gallon pot or is that too much room for right now?

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Ok Astons questions about lights made me look at the bulbs....5 of them are 2700k and 4 of them are 4100k. Are the 4100k,not good enough? I got them from the garden store...Also, I could help myself, I started germination of the Blue Mystic. I chose this one because it is good for beginners, can pretty much handle anything from over-under feeding to temp changes.

Still banging my head about the humidity, at the moment it is at 40, the temp is at 82. I am trying to keep the humidity up but keeping the door slightly cracked.

You're the one who knows what room/space you have, the seedling will be just fine.
Like a cat: studio apartment or country estate is all good, just :MoreNutes:

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Propa-- You must have been posting as I was eating and writing. I see there are different opinions on this. Someone else said to start out in a cup. And since I spent money on these ladies, I want to be extra careful or as Vince once told me OCD...Can I get some input on the bulb question?

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Bulb color temperature: warm reddish or hard white?
I've seen absolutely no evidence what-so-ever that reddish light is better for blooms. I veg with white T8 flourescent, and flower with CMH HID - a white light with high color temperature. HPS also works, but not exclusively.

A hard opinion on this would be ill-placed here. I don't particularly like CFLs, but weed has been grown with them. The color probably doesn't make much difference. Brightness does for sure.

Run what you got, and plan to upgrade for future grow. T5 HID LED

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Hey Queen. Subbed.

Thank you sir and welcome! :welcome:

Propa--um, ok. I don't see any red with my lights but I am totally clueless when it comes to things electrical. In my simple mind, I was going with brighter is better. The bulbs I got from the garden store are bright as hell but 4100k. Next time I go back I will look for 6500k. I definitely see the change from swapping out lights I had in the past.

I have been searching on Ebay for 175w or 200w hps. I am on a budget or I would try for better but I figure if I get that, it is better than what I am working with now.
