QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Well Aston, the fan is big as hell, let me tell you, not many ways I can put that damn thing. I can move it further away from them. I plan on going by the dollar store prolly on Friday so I will see what kind of fan I can find. Maybe something way smaller that I can put in there with them. So should I turn my fan off, set it on low and move it further away? At the same time, I don't want the closet to get too hot either with the hps in there.

I just went and checked them real quick and moved the fan further away. CannaVanna is damn near bone dry, wtf? And Miss Budd is a little moist but I think she can handle some molasses and water. I have just started giving on a regular basis due to advice from Ggrant. So I got some water boiling on the stove now. Some of CannaVanna's stems are a little reddish purple but I chalked it up to being a DNA trait because there is nothing wrong with her. Miss Budd doesn't have any purpling at all. We still got a pistil explosion going on...

Whats good QTL!!!

checkin in on ya before I get back to school work!!! check this... point your fan more towards the pots, but inside the room!!! it should circulate around the room more better without hitting the leaves directly!!! see if that works and let me know!!!

About purpling, I thought it was genetics as well... but after having all of my plants do this... its not... it is a deficiency... figuring out which one is the trick right now!!! it has me and Corey stumped!!! this is what I have been looking up on here most of the time, if i'm not in journals or school work!!! the closest that I have found is what I mentioned already... the Manganese or Sulfer, they both show signs like Nitrogen deficiency but they both have the purpling in them!!! I have found that it looks more like Sulfur than Manganese!!! due to that it shows in the top veg growth and the bottom at the same time... Nitrogen would be yellowing with no purpling but from the bottom up!!!

Have you checked your pH??? make sure that you are stabbing the probe all the way down to the roots so you know what they are getting!!!

:peacetwo:

It is so good to have you back sista!!!

is BF gonna join our wonderful :420: community???
give him a plant and let him get a journal going as well... let5 him take care of it!!! and ask his own questions!!!
Just a thought!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Hi QTL - I think Astonr is on to something with the Sulfur deficiency theory. I can't see it too well in the pics, but what I saw looks like that could be the culprit, especially if this is originating in the top leaves. It would really help if you had a PH meter or some way to check PH to see where things were at... Nice looking plants! I don't think you have much to worry about with the leaves at this point. :thumb:

As far as fans, I've found that the key is just to have good air movement in your grow room, but it doesn't have to be direct. I have a fan that blows directly under my lights to blow the heat off of them, and the indirect breeze circulates through the tent. I have another one of those tall skinny fans that I hang upside down that can circulate air when I want it to, etc., but I usually put it on the lowest setting.

Hmmm, well this has started happening with my other plants too. Really dark purple on their stems and half of the stalk on one plant. I will try to take pics of it and post in my other journal. I started giving molasses, this should help with the sulfur and manganese, correct? Atm, I have no way of checking my ph. I still have not gotten a meter yet but I did order some CalMag. I should get it on Monday or Tuesday. I hope this will help also until I can get a meter. Money is pretty tight this month so prolly won't be able to get it until next month. I barely squeezed out money for the CalMag.

My bf actually did make an account, he just doesn't get on here much. I think he has to get use to how the forums are set up. He pretty much leaves the growing to me. He likes to do the set up type stuff. He has learned little things along the way from watching me. He even knows the difference between sativas and indicas...I have to often ask him the difference.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Welcome back QT! About the fan issue, I have mine blowing a way from the plants, the air circulates just fine and temps stay down.

P.S. Damn gurl,:adore: those plants are looking extra fine, great job!:high-five:

Thanks Smokey. I am proud of my girls. I am already expecting a nice yield from them. I would guess twice as much as my first grow. My first grow was pitiful in comparison of these ladies. Last night I took a peek at the pistils with my scope. Trichs are forming nicely, still clear at this point but I see a whole lot them for just 3 weeks into flower.

Check this out!!! Blackstrap Molasses This info should be useful for you!!! There is no sulfur in it!!! as long as you got the unsulfured molasses!!! but there is manganese in there!!!
Well check it out for yourself!!!

As for the BF!!! tell him to check out the DIY part of the forums then!!! he might be able to build you something or something!!! and tell him to send me a friend request when he gets the time!!! it would be an honor to have the King of your life on my friends list as well!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Excess sulfur is not a problem. Sulfur is a key element in a few amino acids and also helps with terpene production...strong skunky smell. Hard for plants to overdose on sulphur. Try mixing some lemon juice with the nutes, about a tsp per gallon. Without checking the ph, its just a guess though. If the ph of the nutes happens to be too low after adding the lemon juice, that won't cause a bad priblem since as soon as you add some water without nutes, the ph will jump back up. If you ate using tap water, the ph is prolly over 7.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

If its problems with newer growth, drop the ph down. That will make the immobile mivronutrients more available to the plant. Please don't mix FF with BPN :)

Aston--I can't find Blackstrap at any of the bodegas or grocery stores by my house. I do have some GrandMa's that is unsulfured that I have been using.

Corey--Not really so much on new growth, just kinda here and there. But with my other plants the purpling is pretty much all over.. And no, I didn't give them any FF. I knew that would be overkill....

Lights just came on about 25 minutes ago. The temp is 75 with the humidity at 42. I turned the fan off because it was really cool in there. Hoping it will warm up some, that damn radiator prolly isn't even on. I hate living in temp controlled apartments.

Both CannaVanna and Miss Budd still look good, nothing to do today since pots are heavy. I will prolly give nutes and water over the weekend. Seeing more pistils and looks like the buds are starting to get bigger. Even with the necrosis issue, she is still looking good. The yellow leaves look pretty when you look at them, almost like the plant was made out of gold. But it is just the top fan leaves doing this, no where else on the plant. Seems to be where the main colas are forming.

not so much as an overkill, its just plain rude!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Aston---Ur right, it would be an insult. I am kinda kicking myself in the ass for buying the FF now. But it was really before I got the stuff from Corey. And now that I am in the BPN Army and adores Corey, I'm like Foxfarm who? What's that? And being the cheerleader that I am, I try to plug BPN as much as I can when someone asks about nutes. The bottles are still damn near full. So now they're just collecting dust with the other bottles of nutes that my bf had gotten me in the very beginning. BPN for life, baby!!!!

LOL@bodega joke. I swear I love your sense of humor! You always keep me laughing...And even more, you get my jokes even when they're raunchy..lol..

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

im telling you, you say im just a youngin comared to you, but I get where your coming from sista!!!

I do the same thing with BPN!!! just last night I found a FAQ about nutes and I seen someone had already made the recommendation for FF or AN!!! you better believe that I jumped in there with links to BPN and the Army Blog for them to make a decision on their own!!!
ITS BPN ALL THE WAY!!! ALWAYS!!!

I to have some FF left over from my Afgoo and White Widow grows, then I got BPN and never opened those bottles again!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Hey quick question....Can you use the farmer's pride feeding schedule with the 2 part that I am using? Someone sent me that chart but I wasn't sure if I could use it.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

For some reason I can't see any pics with that link. I just upgraded my browser. I must have done something.....ugh!!!

k it only took a minute!!!

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Thanks, got it. I seem right on point but I may increase the nutes next feeding. By then I will also add some CalMag in the mix along with the molasses...then just wait and watch.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

then your going to need a PPM meter now!!!

and your pH meter!!! I thought you said you had gotten one??? hmmm, it must have been kamy!!!:peacetwo:

Uh, yep that was Kamy. It is the next thing I want to get. Just a little behind with some bills when I purchased the hps light. So now I have to get those caught up. I am hoping to be able to squeeze a ph meter in then and what is the difference between the ppm and ph meters? Nevermind, I will just go look it up on the bay.
