QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

QT, I am using a lighting schedule called GLR by some. its 12 hours of light, 5 1/2 hours of dark, 1 hour exact of light 5 1/2 hours dark, repeat . The 1 hour of light between the 5 1/2 hours keeps the plant in a vegetative state by tricking it. This will save you money and heat will be lower as well. Its working for my clones, so I thought I would share with you. Also, they are growing faster than my last indoor venture. Hope this helps.:peace:
I agree with Corey, The little one will lag and take up space.
Its better to pull it now.

If you replace it the replacement will be behind the others, and smaller when done flowering.:peace:

Thanks Smoke, that is interesting..Idk if my timer can do that, its not digital. I appreciate you sharing that with me. I am gonna pull the little one as soon as the lights come on. Now I will have room for 2 when they get here, not sure which ones I want to start of with yet. I want to find out more info on them first.

Godspeed-- Thanks for posting that. Now I will have something to reference. I don't know why its so confusing to me. I really think I do have atleast one Indica. I will post the pic of the one I am talking about a little later when the lights come back on. And how can you tell a hybrid? Or which strain is more dominate?

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Generally each plant will have there own characteristics even if they are the same strain from the same packet, they will all show certain signs from the post above, tall strains over indica hight with "slightly" wider leaves that are a shade darker then the average sativa would be a sativa dominant strain. The finished product would give you a heady high wit a nice body kick, were as a indica dominant strain would give you a body stoned with a bit of a cerebral high.

The more you grow and smoke, the better understanding you will get, the best way to tell what bud you have is to inhale and wait for the buzz.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Insurance- thanks for joining the set...look forward to hearing from you so don't be shy.

Godspeed- that still sounds confusing to me. this grow is bagseed so i don't know anything. i was just comparing to the pics of what you posted earlier...I guess you're right, I will have to pay more attention when i smoke...i know what i have been smoking on today has me stuck in one spot---couchlock...so i am guessing that it was an indica...lol

Nothing to really add. I watered one of the plants today. I was surprised it was dry since I just gave them water and nutes on Thursday. But when I picked it up, the pot was light as a feather and the others were still heavy...I am guessing this one maybe a heavy eater or feeder. I did take some pics with my new camera, hoping they would show better. They do but I can't figure out how to load my camera to the computer.

I mean when the usb is connected, my computer didn't recognize the phone. So I will work on that tomorrow. I haven't been able to keep my eyes off the girls. I just can't believe that they are coming along so well. On the one I swear I am starting to see the beginning of what looks like pistils forming. I just wish I really knew how old these 3 are. I have to do better keeping track of grows. At the moment I have 3 different stages going on..some of the sprouts are starting to form their 3rd leaf set already....So that is it for now.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Reporting in while watching Boardwalk Empire...It looks like I am gonna have to raise the lights a lil bit. Plant #1 is almost hitting the light and the other two are not that far behind. There also seems to be a lot of new growth beneath the huge fan leaves. Do you think this would be a good time to start tying them down? Or should I wait a few? With the door closed the humidity has gone up to 40. Humidifier is still going but with door closed temps still almost reach 90 but never drops below 80 when the door is open.

The sprouts I started are doing very well. I transplanted two them that were together. And a couple of them are starting to get their second and third leaves. I am feeling really good about this grow. And just curious if anyone has heard of the oneseedcenter? If so, please let me know. I guess thats it for now, will post some more pics next week.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

do you mean single seed centre? I have odered frmm them. Barneys Farm Lucy fem, she popped and gave me 1/2 lbs of great bud.:peace:

Yeah, that is the place. So how are they? .I may just be a nervous nelly, idk. Any advice on the tying down?

It takes awhile, i think. all the beans popped, only one survived the ravages of the ferocious and rabid slug.
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Mollusca
Class: Gastropoda
I now sprout inside under controlled conditions.
The one that did make it is Lucy. Barneys Farm, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I am glad she made it cause she is now on my must have list. love it. She produced 1/2 a lb of great smoke (smokeable) as well as 1 lb of leaf gathered as she grew. I lost 1/4 lb to bud rot. I waited too long to harvest, along with the high humidity this affected the harvest. But I am pleased, I learned when to harvest her IMBY.Also got to see all the stages of bud rot. I leaned allot this summer.
Bending and tying, hmm, I would wait until the plants are at least 15" tall before bending and tying down. This will give you a good idea of how the plant wants to grow, and also give you a few good branches to pull carefully down. There are a few good vids on the interweb of how to bend and tie. watch a few of them, till you find a technique you like. write it down, talk it though. make the motions with your hands. If you have not culled the runt, let it grow and practice on it. If its already culled go get a branch from a vine practice bending it with out breaking it. you want to be able to move the branch in a 360 circle. It will be hella limp. Its OK , she will heal and be stronger, then grow up and out.:peace:

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Well during my travels today I got another humidifier, so now there is 2 running. One for me and one for my girls. I hope this helps to improve the humidity. They're still getting their beauty sleep for another hour. I want to look at them so bad. Sorry just amazed at how better this grow is than the first one. Yeah, I made plenty of mistakes the first grow but I am gonna swear its the BPN nutes. Seems like when I gave them that first dose, they just took off. So, I think, well hell I know, I am gonna stick with Corey's nutes. I'll still keep the other nutes I have for "emergency" purposes or to experiment with in future grows...In other words, BPN nutes is the shit...lol...as well as having good shit in it, I suppose.....lol..The sprouts are still doing their thing, there has been no more casualties...The runt is still hanging on but has til my beans get here to make a comeback, if not, that bitch is outta here..

Propa---Thanks for the Props. Hope you will hang out here with this grow and kick me some knowledge. Medicine show? Not sure what you mean by that. So they all look to be Indica dominate? How can you tell this? Or what is the give away? Indicas are the heady high right?

Bumpity Bump Bump....Hoping everyone keeps chiming in, I really appreciate it. I wonder where my mentor is? Haven't seen him in a bit but I know he is prolly out there getting his grind(work) on....

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Yeah ya know, Smoke...I am still trying to join the BPN army...Btw, I did get an email from singleseed today. So, I am feeling relieved but you mentioned all popped but one, does that mean all the seeds were bad but one or they were all crushed but one?

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Medicine show? Not sure what you mean by that
Consider the word 'show': When BF shows up at the door on time for a date payday evening, it's a good show. If he's 6 hours late and your cat drags him in, it's a spectacle.
So they all look to be Indica dominate? How can you tell this? Or what is the give away? Indicas are the heady high right?
Fat fan-leaf fingers are more typical of indica dominant cannabis, which medicate more like a comfy blanket than a time/space-warping blast-off. Many like the dazed confusion of killa sativa, but I usually reach for some 'medicine'. I have a lifetime of cumulative residuals to deal with and yes, it is nice for me to have options. Keep acquiring chops & gear, and your options will grow.

BTW: I often try to write in a manner that can be understood differently by different people. An old friend said that he found more sense in my posts by turning his head sideways for a re-read ;)

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Well Propa, you do have a special way of talking. Not that I mind. I find it quite refreshing since I am use to ebonics and street slang...That should make me bi-lingual...lol...The fan leaves on this plant looks huge to me. None were that big on the first grow!!! I really don't know if I have come across a sativa during my years of smoking. Hell, I didn't know half the stuff I know now back then about mj. Just different experiences, like times I would smoke and fall into a sleeping coma or times when everyone and everything was moving in slow motion...with the latter I often wondered if some sprinkled something on my shit or if it was just that good!!! At least I wasn't running down the street butt naked... And from what I was told it is hard to find a pure sativa these days...So most strains then are hybrids correct?

When I came in from the grocery store, the ladies were awake. Humidity at 40 percent, now have two humidifiers running. I have the door open also to see if it will drop any. The temp is just under 80 about 78. Just from glancing at the moment, all looks well with them. I do notice that plant #1 seems to be leaning to the left as if she prefers the lights from the garden store over the ones from the dollar store. Or maybe she's hinting to me that is the way she wants to be tied down--naughty girl!!!

I have now decided that I need to flip my living room closet into the flowering room. I'll prolly get that started next month. After I figure what I am going to do with the stuff thats in there already. I barely go in there anyway and no one comes to visit. So I am a happy camper.

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Just a bit of an update. Good news is that the humidity has gone up its been hovering between 40-45. The ladies and babies look good today. Everyone was given water today. Now remember I had given nutes and water last Thursday. Watered lady #1 again on Saturday was surprised that once again her pot was light. I am getting the impression this plant likes to eat. I took some more pics, the first 3 are lady#1, the next 2 are lady#2 and the last 2 are lady #3....

Lady #1 is really bushing out, a lot of new growth showing. The stem is really thick already. And if I am looking correctly looks like it may have more than 2 main colas. Here she is in all her glory...

Up next is lady#2...Not sure what to say about her. She just doesn't seem to want to grow anymore other than just the top..But she is standing strong...

005658.JPG

Finally, lady#3..She's looking good as well has new growth but not as full as lady#1 yet. I still have high hopes for her, I think she is just a late bloomer, maybe a lil more nutes next feeding...

Comparing plant 1 which I was told was Indica dom with the other two I am assuming that they are Indica dom too. As always opinions and advice is always welcome.

Just trying to do something to keep my mind off my pain. Had this strange rash break out on me which is hurting like a mofo. Went to see my doc and found out I got shingles..which happens to be contagious....wtf..

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

@QT... You ARE on Team BPN. The mail man must have lost your enlistment packet....or I forgot to send it because i was too stoned :) Oh well, what rank do you want to be? lieutenant or colonel?
as for me, I have been reading an advanced plant physiology book for the past few hours (Mineral Nutrition of Higher Plants by Horst and Marschner).....I love that stuff!

Your plants are nice and bushy....i like em ;)

re: QT's Second Grow - 1st Journal

Looks like they're starting to grow up and fill out for you some ('cept for your late bloomer #2...). All I can tell by looking at them is that they appear to all be Indicas or Indica heavy hybrids to me. I don't think you'll be able to know more than that, honestly. Full disclosure, I can't find my glasses right now (too lazy). ;)

Congrats on the bushy new growth. Corey will steer you straight, and the BPN products have worked well for me. You have some peeps with a lot of cannabis growing knowledge following your grow. Propa Gator, Smoke2Js and Corey from Blue Planet are like EF Hutton to me. When they talk, I listen. ;) You should be in good hands!

I realize I'm dating myself with that comment, lol. I think Propa at least will remember the EF Hutton reference at least...?

Anyway... Keep it green, Queen! :cheer:
