Love the profile pic Bill. :passitleft:
That's a bobble head Stacey had made of me fishing.
It's better looking than me.
Take care my friend.

I'm so inamered with that build.
So they welded it in the room while they were building it?
So it's drywall then plywood walls? With a film?
Or is that what the house is and film on it.
Sorry I'm bugging you so much but it's fascinating to me.

Not bugging me at all - I don’t want to be hijacking your thread!

So here I built with my wife’s brother in law (where’s my saw dude!) a car/motorbike workshop in the same style. Led by him and his builder mate which is how I learned about it.

You go to the steel pipes/strut place and order a bunch of different types of steel - for that we used i think 8 4x4” columns set in concrete about 4ft deep. But then making rooms and spaces or shelves within the shops they are really every couple of miles or so have a full range - 12mm x 12mm or 12mm x 40mm or you name it its just racks of the stuff depending on requirements you buy what you you want structurally. Brace supports will be smaller obviously. That build was about 4m high I think, hence the concrete foundations. Draw a diagram on a scrap bit of paper and know that generally every length whatever the diameter (they do circular as well but much more expensive) is generally 3m sometimes 4m. So you calculate how many units you need and add 10% for loss or extras and 20% for my partner’s extended family “borrowing” some 😅

Decent chop saw onsite to cut to size and lifted up and spot welded by guys in flip flops wearing “RayBams” and the frame is done. The frame for this grow room build is all 1x2” and I think they just used a handheld angle grinder - cut a little too big and shave it down for a perfect fit. The whole frame took maybe 2 hours to cut and weld? Pic below of in progress.

Then you go to the steel roof shop. These are maybe every 4 miles. They have massive rolls of 2-3mm steel with coloured abs plastic coating. About 1.5m wide I think. Normally about 20 colours available - its amazing to watch. You pick a colour and they run it through a mechanised press (no added charge) to form it into the shapes for roofs as you like. You can apply insulation as you like underneath. For the grow room they fidn’t press it into a shape because would have made it a bit harder to seal. But that workshop build we used the same stuff for the walls as well

Home builds here are basically:

Drill some holes in the ground - maybe 20m pour concrete and rebar. Lay a concrete slab. Build concrete columns in forms and same for the floor for each storey required. Fill gaps (aka walls) with breeze blocks/cinder blocks plaster and paint. Internal walls can be steel as descibed above or more breeze blocks. Roofing structure generally always that steel build described above. Can use steel roof or ceramic tiles that look individual but are actually 60cm square panels.

But there’s a couple of houses being built totally out of steel frame and concrete floors a couple of streets along from me. So quick to go up. A $500 welding rig and ready supply of steel pipes/struts and you can build any structure.

Here its so humid you really don’t want timber involved!

Sorry that ended up reee-ally long! And we flick between imperial and metric here quite a bit so the measurements move around too.

Steel roof or walls if you like for a workshop or warehouse build (walls would typically get sunk a couple of inches into concrete at the bottom)

Breaker panel is installed.
6" x 6" junction box supplying the work shop area and lights in the non grow areas.
Each room will have 2 - 15 amp breaker’s.
One for the lights.
And a separate breaker for any fans or devices.
And a double breaker for the greenhouse plug.

neatly done
I may have lost my touch but I can still keep it fairly neat.
I think I remember which end of the tape measure to read.
How are you and the wife doing?

I always took pride in my work.
My panels were always immaculate.
Never had any defects or problems.
Don't want any now.
I did a 400 Amp service for a printing company once.
Massive panels with all the controls an disconnects.
Was freeken beautiful, imo.
Wish I had pics.
That was a good one.
This is pretty straight forward.
Just a matter of keeping it neat and tidy.
As soon as I finish painting I can mount the BX in place.
Then it'll be time for the beans.:cheer:
Take care my friend.

Wish I knew how to do that
I'd be broke if I had to pay someone to do this work.
Not that I'm not already.
I've gone past my budget by a mile.
But it's satisfying doing it all on my own.
The final outcome will be just a little sweeter.
Not a lot going to be done today though.
Still having trouble walking.
And I've a dentist appointment.
Hopefully at least I can track down the tile guy.
Pick up the marble, one more thing off the list.
Take care GF.:high-five:
Talk soon.

That's the problem with Kijiji.
You have to go by their schedule.
If buddy isn't ever home I may just go buy some nice white tile.
But a marble floor might be worth the extra time.
Take care Keith.
