Lions mane enables neurogenesis. They are one of the best medicinal mushrooms IMHO. This is very exciting for me as I hope to treat my neuropathy with it. That will be a game changer even if its only reduced by a third. Of course the magic mushies will probably really help my PTSD as well.

Yea i got a 50 lbs bag of them an i did try 3 quart size jars lastnite. So ill see if this way works i didnt fully cook the grains till all white was gone i only did about half tht cuz everytime id boil them till no white left an then i wud put them in the p.c it wud then over cook em so i did less this time figuring they wud finish the rest of the way in the p.c. oh also my p.c isnt reaching 15 psi any more only goes to 11 n stops now n the ring doesnt have any chips out of it or nuthn so idk y its doing tht. So can i still sterilize stuff with it jus go alil longer or sumthn or will tht not work?

You guys have me so damn hyped to grow my own it isn't funny!

Yes, wait until it's fully colonized or a contamination is stopping the growth and it never will. Keep an eye on it.

Your other jar is probably pinning due to more air than it needs(or contamination can force early pins.. self preservation kicks in), it's fine it won't hurt anything. Are those poly-fil jars or...

You need to figure out why your PC isn't going to 15 lbs, what type of PC do you have and is there a gasket?

Bro, I have the easiest prep for Oats, literally just boil(rolling boil) more water than you need, take off burner, toss in Oats, cover with a lid for 45 minutes or so.... done. Toss you Oats into two strainers and steam dry them, shake every couple minutes for 10 or 15 minutes(steam dry), or just walk away for awhile(choice is yours). Nearly perfect grains and SO simple. You really have to figure out your PC... all the best.

Ok u convinced me to give the oats another try thanx man. An i always put the oats in right away as the water was getting up to a boil. I never let the water get hot first i wknder if tht will help my issue out lol. But yea im not hme rite this sec but im fairly sure its a presto an yes it has a gasket n the ring has no marks or slits/chips out of it so idk why all of a sudden its not working. The ring looks almost new so its got me really cornfused lol. But yea i have a feeling when i get home 2day it will be a mushie work day hahaha. I wana do a few agar transfers also. Im deadset on achieving a full real monoculture so i gotta few more transfers to complete first lol.

Next time you do Oats... try boiling water and soak for 45 minutes(I did 50 minutes, but you can soak up to an hour)... you CAN thank me later. I also add gypsum to the water so when the grains hydrate it's GOOD to Go!

Yes sir, if it starts making a different noise, or isn't steaming correctly, it's low on water and that's a BAD thing. If this ever happens(make sure you use plenty of water, it may take longer to heat up, but more is better than not enough), flip the valve(bobber) and lose your project, you don't want things to be worse than losing a run of spawn or blocks.

Yup i learned tht leason quick fast an HARD lol. My first run with it i cooked 3 half gallon jars an 3 quart size jars of grains straight mushy lmao. I ran it out of water an jus started smelling this weird smell tht smelld like if someone were to cook my grandparents old horse farm lmao hahaha. Al of a sudden my mind clicked n i was like ohshit its my grains ran out to the kitchen an sure enuf it ran out of water n i forgot to set the timer n was smoking an playn video games with my son n jus spaced n forgot they were even cooking i was jus sitting waiting to hear the timer go off but it never did . So yea today is another working day didnt quite get everything i wanted to yesterday done so guna finish up2day an do some more agar runs. Plus look what i found had came in the mail when i got home. Its my shiitake log. So now i got the shiitake log and the blue oyster block jus waiting on the lionsmane an i think tht one comes in a sawdust block as well.

I'm still a roaring boil man myself for my oats, 35 mins later I have 15lbs of cooked to perfection oats ready to hit the PC. It takes a few dozen batches but after a while it's pretty easy to do, like everything else.

Looks like a Shiitake Sawdust log, NICE man... it's nice and brown that's a good thing. I have a few Shiitake blocks FINALLY almost ready. 6 days from now will be 2 months. I'm glad this isn't the slowest variety which can be upwards of 3 months to fully brown.

I have boiled my Oats as well, similar to your style, I think I went 40 minutes(solid boil but not vigorous) with Minimal busted grains. I like the Bath style, almost no grains popped(a few random half seeds) and So simple. Easy to measure to, I do 7 jars at a time and it's 3.5 jars of Oats.

Wait u mean u shoot up a log an it can take up to 3 months b4 its ready to spawn to bulk substrate? Or wud u jus keep it as a log like i did with my sawdust block?

Shut it off, take it off the burner and throw oats in with a lid. Set a timer for 40 to 45 minutes, I went 50 and I did get a few grains pop, but like a handful for 7 jars worth isn't an issue(toss some gypsum in the water while you are boiling).

Yup, Shiitakes are SLOW, I'm almost 2 months in and the 3 blocks aren't ready yet. One is real close.

I used micropore tape to cover the holes in the lid where it was innoculated

If it's solid bright white, it's just a little more air causing the PIN which looks big so that's probably what it is. Is it fully colonized yet or close.
