Prof's Lab: Diary Of A Bedroom Farmer

You can pickle some of these unripe tomatoes. Tastes great. Especially when pickled with some ginger.
That does sound like a good idea. I thought about seeing if they would ripen off the vine as well. I heard green tomato chutney is a thing as well. Any experience with that as I have never had it.
This may help.
.

Thanks Mr S. I will check it out. I have been reading up on permaculture a lot recently and yesterday I had my first go at Hugelkultur. Hard work but fun to have a go at and get the eldest kid involved.
Wow, nature is yuk! Maybe I don’t need to look behind that curtain? Lmao! It’s working for ya Prof, those tomatoes look good! All your plants are looking good. Happy leg shaving day Prof :thumb:
Lol. Thanks HH. I'm trying to get a winter veg garden planned out though I have decided that I dont like a lot of the things which grow through the winter months. Brussel sprouts! no thank you lol. The kids will enjoy it though.

The trim is all complete. pics on their way shortly

The plants have had the snip! That has dropped the humidity in the tent by at least 5%. My next job is to tie down the branches to fill up all the gaps and get the canopy level. I will attack that tomorrow though as it'll be lights out shortly....

Unknown Afghan #1.

I skipped the nutrients when I watered all of the plants yesterday. This one is still doing the claw but is also growing very nicely. It ended up being the tallest plant in the end and I have given it an early super-cropping. I'm hoping that she isn't finicky and carries on the way she's been going. She is getting a musky wood scent to her already....

Unknown Afghan #2.

She is much smaller now that she has had the leaves removed. There is a good structure to work with though so things are still cool. Another one which is flowering fast but doesn't have a discernible scent yet....

Pineapple Express #2.

This little lady is flying. She has frost and flowers which look like they are a week ahead. She is quite small and didn't stretch much. She will be easy to train lol. Has a sweet and fruity scent coming from her....

Tashkurghan.

This plant did keep stretching and caught up with most of the others. It looks more delicate than the other 2 Afghans but perhaps that was because of the start. She was tiny when flowered. I have a good feeling about this one....

Chocolatina x Chocolatina.

This is the slowest of the group but dont let that fool you. She has thick, hollow stems that crunched when I squeezed them. She is also the smallest now but unlike the others, seems to still be growing up slowly. It has Tina genetics so I'm particularly looking forward to this one....

Unknown Fem #1.

This plant is the second tallest and is also one of 3 plants in this grow to be displaying polyploidy traits. The other 2 are the Pineapple Express and the Chocolatina. I said over in @Lewydeville's thread that there were 4 but I can't seem to find the fourth. I think I was tripping. I must go over there and correct myself lol. This is a strong plant with a good appearance and has a nice structure to work with....

Unknown Fem #2.

This was the plant I thought I saw the mutation on but now can't seem to find. It is a healthy specimen and is like many of these, quite fast. The stems are very firm already so I will need to be careful when bending them down tomorrow. This plant has an incense scent beginning to develop....

Seed Drop.

These where in fact put into water yesterday afternoon so have been in the jars for 24 hours at the time these pics where taken. Not a floater among them. That had something to do with me as this morning most where actually still on the surface so I poked them down with my finger. Is that allowed? Anyhow, a few have split but I am waiting for the tails so I will check them in the morning and see what is happening.

From left to right we have 5 x X18's, 7 x mixed Afghans and 7 x Highland Lao's....

A split on an Afghan....
DSC03950.JPG

The Highland Lao's were a mistake and I didn't intend on dropping quite as many. I only meant to drop one lol. To be fair they are meant to have a very poor germination rate so maybe I should just sink them all and see how many work. None have spilt yet so will keep them in here for now....

One final little update for the evening before I turn in. I haven't updated the veg tent for a little while so its time for a quick rundown. We have had a few things disappear and some new faces appear. I have ditched a few males which were the unknown Afghan and 2 Malana's. We only have 2 Malana's left out of the original 5. I know that one of these is female but have forgotten which one lol. I trimmed them up after they started getting tall and removed the growth which had the pistils on it lol. Oh well.
The new faces are the Chocolatina x Cheap Trick, The Tashkurgan Clone and the Unknown Afghan #2 clone. We also still have the Miami Heat male and the Balkh male to use in the future. I will get around to seed making one day. We also have the Crumbled Lime x Unknown and 2 x Chocolatina x Guicy Banger's....
DSC03937.JPG

There is also the unknown Afghan #1 which is still taking it's sweet time to root. Being difficult to clone is a mark down but if the smoke is worth it then it could still be a keeper. Plus it is me who is in charge of the cloning so maybe I shouldn't be too hard on her....

Well, That's all folks!

Go for it, your Landrace are pretty cool.
I don't mind using the cupboard in the cooler months but there is no way I would flower in there during the summer. Gotta chase the spiders out first.
You’re really gonna like that choclatina. I think it could be on my top 5 list. Looking good around here Prof. Maybe a couple of those sativa beans would be good candidates for the scrape test?
I forgot to scrape any of these. The Thai seeds are huge compared to the Afghan seeds which would have been really fiddly to scrape.

Summer is always hard to pull of here.
The humidity here has dropped to a much more reasonable level over the last week or so. It still hasn't gone below 60% though. I have a harvest coming up very shortly and have just purchased another fan to help with the drying. I'm not in the mood for a harvest at the moment and would rather just hang the whole plant and deal with it later. Most of the leaves have already dried up anyway lol.

I’ve put dried bud in Turkey bags with all their sugar leaves still intact. Keep in a cool dark space and trim them as I use them.
I have done that once before but with jars. I was getting a weird smell from the jar which I put down to dried leaf matter. it didn't cross over into the taste though.

Wow you look like you’ve got your hands full P. Never short of a strain or two in here! lol Looking good mate.
I’ve never seen the polyploidy trait in my plants before, shame mine is a Male. Must be really rare to have four plants in the same grow.
Cant wait to see how the Chocolatina x Guicy Banger shapes up.
