PotChimp's Side Projects

I think the commercial seed industry is flooded with pollen chuckers right now. Kinda like I'm going to chuck some too. But I'm not going to tell people that mine are stable when they are not. Shit loads of new breeders asking a fortune for un stabilized genetics. Gotta take matters into my own hands when I find something I want to keep

I might have a good start on that if backcrossing helps to narrow things down, but then again I don't know what side effects backcrossings have. Quite a few of these GDP S1 offspring look like they have color potential. And I've got living cuts of both S1 mothers growing (both had purple color to them).

Backcrossing is supposed to be a sort of short cut to get things stabilized. The problem is that you are basically inbreeding over and over which causes vigor to diminish. It would be worth doing once or twice though in my opinion.

From what I have seen most breeders use STS (Silver Thiosulfate(sp?)). There are tutorials to make your own. I think it is much preferred over colloidal silver and GA at this point in time.

I think there's much to be gained by stressing a bunch of females to find that true one----the "100 % XX female". My experience with STS produced a ton of S1 Blue Dream seeds with that tendency to herm late in flower.

I have seen a lot of people complain about Blue Dream being very unstable. Unless you got a legit Clone Only Blue Dream I would say it had everything to do with the strain you reversed. HSO's Blue Dream is notorious for being packed with hermis. Finding a true female to use would be best practice if you are able to stress test before hand. Mass Medical mentions throwing all sorts at his plants to see what makes the cut. From crazy temp swings to light issues he makes it sound like they experience it all.

@PotChimp it is much easier to find "seed clones" when the line is already stabilized. So if you were to reverse one of your females from your chem line, you should get less variance than you saw in the GDP you reversed. They have never specified how many generations they went with breeding GDP (or at least I have not seen it) but I always figured it was only at about an F1 stage.

I’ve been trying to get some seeds from my Chocolope since I heard (in this thread I think) that the breeder lost their male.
Colloidal silver has been hit and miss for me. Easy to make and to get lots of pods- but I only got seeds about 1/3 of the time.
I ordered the two chems for making STS on eBay and I’m trying that now. Got pods after spraying three times and just put the Chocolope into isolation this eve. Hopefully it works this time.

Cured out longer it starts to smell more like chocolate, and the nugs are more than somewhat hard, too. I'm reconsidering putting it to an end, so today my skills as a laboratory test monkey are gonna be put to use :nerd-with-glasses:
I already smoked a fat blunt this morning, so if I smoke another fat blunt of this Chocolope and get higher I'll keep it:

That's chimp test #1 there.....

I'm trying to remember which plants were freebies lately. I chopped all of my free GDPs about a month ago, I chopped all three Headbanger f2s a few days ago, and I'll be chopping that Monster plant in about a week. So yeah, I have. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I lost that X-Mas Bud plant reveg; that was the first one in a while I couldn't get to grow back.

These reveg plants did okay. This first one is a Ghost Train Haze #1:

It didn't take long, but this GDP S1 x GDP f3 took forever to put a branch out. It's under 18/6, and you can see how far along in bloom the bud on the plant is:

These Headbanger f2 plants are starting to reveg. I cropped the pic , which took it too far out of the focal range of this camera, so it's hard to see the new growth starting:

Same with this Mendocino Purple Kush reveg:

I've got a Mendocino Purple Kush clone that's doing that (from taking the cutting during bloom). Both are wilted starting out. Patience is the only thing that's worked for me in the past with that problem. If it's to the point where it's growing, repotting always helps.
This Ak47 I've been cloning stays in partial bloom all the time. Maybe it's one of those type plants.

I've had the two clones of it for months now, and they don't ever go into veg all the way (Ak47):

One, two, and three bladed leaves always :( I'm going to put them out of my misery tomorrow by putting them into bloom (after I clean them up some). I'll put them in my bloom locker after I take this Apollo 13 f3 mother out:

and I take this Cannabis Afghanica x Apollo 13 f2 mother out:

and I clean all that pollen up.
