PotChimp's Side Projects

Happy New Year Chimp and everyone that visits this thread! You are welcome Weasel! I know of a site offering 15 regs from In house for $50 per pack right now if anyone is interested let me know. It isn't all of their big name hype strains but there should still be some nice plants in there and its 5 more seeds than they usually put in a pack for half the cost.

I'm hoping that something good comes out of the seeds I'm doing in my breeding projects. Hell, for all I know purple is a mutation that goes back to normal every time and I'm just chasing a ghost. "Clone only" tells me that getting something as frosty as GG#4 in seed form and having most offspring look like the original plant probably isn't likely, or more people would be doing it. I'll find out, I guess.

I think purple is a recessive trait that requires you to breed two purples together multiple times in order to stabilize it. I think it would take 4 generations of successive purple to purple crosses in order to get rid of the dominate green gene. It is possible to do but time consuming and easier to accomplish when you can start hundreds of seeds at a time. I really hope you can find a nice purple GDP male to hit your purple girls with.

@Dankman_420 if you have the funds jump on at least one of those packs. The Jupiter (Chem4xGoliath) should be an awesome strain with great breeding potential.

I just read up on it (Cannabis Breeder's Bible). One guy light stresses a large # of females to find a true one (that doesn't hermie) and treats it with gibberellic acid to get male parts to form on it. Then he pollinates a female clone from the same plant and all the seeds are female (and supposedly alike).
I always wondered how they make fem seeds Thanks Chimp

What's your opinion on fems vrs regs in breeding. Seems when I buy regs they usually do better than fems when grown out. Do your fems seem as vigorous as the regs you've breed

I've been using regular seeds, hoping that nothing funny about the chromosome affects the outcome. I've never really noticed any difference in vigor between the two, but there's a lot more oddballs and weird plant traits with fem seeds I've grown.
