Pollen chuckers paradise

some day when im going to stay home all the time ill get into it more seriously rite now I like to leave for the summer it puts a real damper on breeding!

I like to take my wife with me when I travel, just in case we want some strangie thing you know like getting it in a new place... strange! lol Thats OK right? Wait .... I'm in a weed forum. :passitleft:

Bo, when you pollinate as soon as hairs show do you notice a difference in the overall size of the plant?

I tried one time only but will try again next round if you recommend it. Seemed like the plant gave up, like it got what it wanted and didnt get as big as I was expecting or produce as many seeds as I had hoped for. Could have been a different issue I didn't account for but I'd much prefer pollination early to make sure the seeds reach full maturity. For this last round I waited a little and hope they all finish.

seeds generally take 4-5 weeks to be mature ive heard that if you pollinate to early and the seeds are on the plant for say 6or7 weeks they get a real hard shell on them then its hard for them to germinate but that's just what ive heard!

Interesting

Never heard that

I've done some easily on for 6+ weeks..seemed to germ fine

I also have some now, pollinated on 1/16 I may pluck one tomorrow to see how it looks

Fun fun fun

ya as I said I just heard that don't no if its true you here lots on the mag doesn't make it so good luck bud!
Could be true though

All hard shelled seeds are harder to germinate , That is why it is recommended to soak the seeds overnight. The best ones fall out naturally
You can also scarify your seeds. Scarification etching the seed coat ( you can make a tube out of fine sandpaper, cap one end, insert seed, cap & shake)

thanks Brewster I had some seeds recently that have been around a while and after soaking for 3or4days nothing cracking so I heard about squeezing them just enough until they pop then back on the plate and wait for the tail and its worked on 50% of them so that's another way!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned......
So I drop this here @Icemud does very nice projects in the garden. Things like pollination check it out.

Thanks Keltic for posting my journal link :) I'm definitely a muthachucker :)

about 45 days into my Apollo 13 F4 open pollen project :)

Here is the Apollo 13 F4 preggo with seeds from her brother... ewww

With my last season's grow, I selectively pollinated 3 modest colas on 2 plants. I didn't know at the time at what point I'd be chopping the plants and harvesting the buds and seeds. As it turned out it was 6 - 7 weeks and the seeds were ready to pop. This to me was the point in nature when they would be naturally released from the Calyx and fall to the ground, and I found several having done that on the stone tiles near my pots in the week before harvesting, so to my mind this was probably the ideal time to let them run. Previously, I have pollinated and harvested seeds and buds just 4 weeks later. I also imagine even if only 3 weeks there is a good chance they could still be viable. I had never given thought to the seed shells being harder to germinate because of going to their full natural term (when they'd naturally fall to the ground). However, I have always done what Brewsterman does, and that's a light scuffing with an old nail fine followed by a 12 - 24 hour pre-soak. My current grow is from seeds I harvested last season which all so far have had no problems giving 100% germination.

Wow, that's really interesting. I hadn't heard of that before. Could be good for really old seeds :hookah:

I scuff the shells to, usually with a clean file nothing fancy. I probably have all sorts of bacteriao_O

Probably true for all of us. After all the scarification and such and before the soak I've been using a weak solution of water and H2O2 in a prescription bottle to clean (sanitize) the seed. Drop the seed in and shake shake shake for a moment then drop it in the plain soak water until the tail pops.
