Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

The Green Crack is about 18-20 inch away.

The layout will change quite a bit. I want to do some massive overhaul to the room. So something's gonna change.

I don't run the 400W because of heat. But I run my 250W MH for cross spectrum

Yeah! Bigger pot, bigger plant! :D

Looking great, Pigeons!

Although, the small pot is sure packing some bud! Great Job!

She should definitely be in a bigger pot. But I ran out of 5 gallon Geo Pots and this was all I had left. Damn.

Are you going to make a screen again or not?

I will for the hog again but Ill just train them. The flower bomb Kush will be in there in no time. And I'm going to start a flux next.

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

I need more space to have 10G pots. I can only fit two 5s in my veg cabinet. I suppose I should get familiar with transplanting :thumb:

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

i use 8.5 gal pots ( or are they 8 ) one for my main plant and one for when i plant my beans after 32 weeks of germination in 20 coffee cups have 5 plants in it right now will trans plant one more time into 3 gal pots . is that about right? or am messing up again?

I don't know if I picked all that up.

As always you will get mixed opinions about when and how to transplant. I'm not running an operation of 10s of 100s of plants. (Have to keep it within my legal perameters too). So, I have made the decision to plant in my final pot. Don't transplant unless I really really have to. And that happens when I need pots else where or they come available.

Edit:: so, I guess my answer is, I don't know...

It is really easy when dealing with small pots (<10 gal). I think the plants grow better with transplants, too. It sounds counterintuitive, but the roots spread out once they hit bottom. You get a bigger, broader rootball. I bury the small pot in the big pot up to the soil line. Remove the small pot, knock the dry soil and root ball out, score/rough the root ball slightly, and drop in into the hole. Water like crazy. Watch the magic. Usually the plants won't skip a beat. By the following day you will see the difference in the plant's health. For me, so far, each up-potting has taken two weeks, or slightly more when going from seed or cutting in a cup to 1 gal to 7 gal. I judge when to transplant on how root bound they are. When I need to water every couple of days, it's time.

Great advice, PITA. I do the same except I don't even score the roots. But, yeah Graduated pot method works to grow a large root-ball and increase nute up-take. I start in cups, then to 8" pots then on to 12 or 14" pots (depending on strain) More roots, more food, more buds :)

Solid info! My approach of plant in final pot is only because I want to leave out any chance that my ass has nothing to do with a possible tragedy. I'm so prone for it that I've come to realize it and work around it.

Again, solid info. I didn't know it was beneficial.

someone explain scoring the roots sounds like damaging them soooooo cofusaled but then again ithis is my first grow

You do very little to no damage to the roots. What it does is loosen the dirt clod (the soil becomes compacted) and lets the roots hook up to the new soil. You don't have to score the root ball, but the results are much faster if you do. It doesn't hurt the plant in the least. You don't tear up any roots - just loosen them. The plants will thank you.

Root bound in 1 gal and needs a drink. Placed in 7 gal.

Now VERY ready for a drink after the move.

I topped it a few days later. This is the result after one week in the new pot. One week later it went into a 25 gal.

It is now three feet tall.

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

ok i think i understand will consider it the next time i transplant them

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

saw this on another thread about root scoring

Hey hawk ive done the same move everytime when transplanting! I juggle the under roots like im adjusting my balls you know? Real lightly but enough to get them happie! Dont scrap too much soil off or they might take a 7 day stress break! But they will be fine! Goodluck
