Peyton's Sour Sky Hempy Grow 2014

Hey TrysHard, $100 a month? How big is your rez? I live in the country but there are 3 towns within 25 miles that have stores that sell "pure water" for 30 cents a gallon, if you have your own bottles. Single gallon or up to five gallon bottles. The problem with RO and distilled (DH2O) water is that there are no micro nutrients or minerals. That's why tap water or "spring water" is better. I don't know why I wanted to use DH2O, my tap water is 60 ppm and 7.6 ph. My next grow will definitely be out of my faucet. :geek:

Hey guys, those loaders are looking good Peyton. I'm currently using tap water also. 50ppm and 6.7 out the faucet. Haven't tried the DH2O and since I would have to pay for it, I doubt I will. For those with high pons out the faucet have u considered boiling the water before you load it with nutes. May lower those numbers

so you guys call it tap water even though you call a tap a faucet? I'd have imagined you'd call it faucet water...

lucky guys, my faucet water comes straight out the tap at 8pH, settles overnight to about 6.9 if I'm lucky. not tried boiling it... i thought that might kill off any waterborne nutrients and minerals?

I've never once checked my ppm. Figured I'd do first grow with bare minimum, and it's working well. If second grow goes as well I'll probably never check it. I tried boiling the water once but it was just a pain in the ass. Water never smells with nutrients in it, just if I use ph down alone. The jiffy that seedling is in hasn't needed water yet, I've just been dumping bottled water down the edge of cup to fill solo hempy reservoir. Once I see roots through hole I'll transplant anyway.

I don't know why they call the faucet a tap, they just always have. Mine comes out at 8.2 and overnight it'll drop to 7 something. I haven't actually used my ph meter in a month or so. I just add 1.4 ml to get to 5.8, and I add a little less to get ph to flex a little. I was wondering does it matter if it's faucet water that's hot or cold? Doesn't hot water have more calcium in it?

Not sure about the nute differences between hot and cold. I believe ur ladies won't like the warm/hot water tho.

The backbuilding is coming along nicely. Only been a few days and already most of the branches are disappearing, being hidden by bud growth. Gonna look really good come harvest time! I am a firm believer in backbuilding, and hgk grow will let me try my hand at fluxing. Can't wait for this show to end and new one to start in new room

Oh u see results from back building that soon? I just did it 2 days ago to 2 plants. I don't see a difference just yet. Maybe too soon for me.

Did you do it to just your main tops? Or all the buds you could see?

On the note of TDs and ec. A TDs was one of the first things I bought. EBay 10$ I bought 4 thinking they were junk. Still on the first one giving accurate readings. I test it against my Buddy's professional hach meeter every so often. And I know what my numbers should be and the meeter just confirms that. I found it most useful when beginning to find out what my water was.
I know this strain can take 1100ppm now out the gate lol. Nutes bring me to 947 my water is 47 and the rest is koolbloom bloombooster.

Good to have a TDs but not needed. A local pet store that sells fish should test your tap water for free if u bring theme cup.

Cheers

What you mean by back building? Not sure of the term.
I do mad FIM and LST to prepare them to be Scroged. Looks like you do to or do you just Veg into ScroG?

That was why I use tap. I'm trying to grow on a budget, so adding anything is too much for me. It took me a bit just to be able to get led light. I'll figure out something. Just don't wanna spend money
Same here.

I do have those, but I drive a sports car, it's hard enough getting the 8 2.5 gallon DH20 in to it. I could never get four 5 gallon jars in there and it would take several trips, and I live in a nice area with a nosy neighborhood watch program (which is good). It's just too obvious hauling water from my garage into my apartment. As it is I do most of my transporting after dark. I have pretty hard water here, but it doesn't seem to be effecting my plants.

It would probably cost me more to boil 20 gallons than to buy Dh20.

There's a thread on backbuilding in the forums. You just snip the very tip of the bud and it stops growing up and fills in below. Doesn't increase yield, just makes end product look a lot nicer. I topped once at 5 node and trained it completely flat. Then I let it slowly grow into screen once I flipped to 12/12. Then just move everything outward till stretch stops and let under growth move up into squares. There's not much of anything under the canopy. Plant is only about 11 inches tall from grow medium to highest bud

Working in garage today to get new room ready. Realized the previous owner had paneling and tarps nailed to ceiling of garage. Pulled down, massive mouse home, and a couple birds too. So now I have another problem to fix. Do they make a bomb that will kill off all bugs and mice too? If not I'll need a lot of glue traps

figured i would throw a couple more pics from today up. i took some pictures of future grow room and current box, but won't post them til i can figure out how to rotate them the right way.

here is the HGK probably a week old now. growing very fast

and the sour skywalker. you can see in the last pic that the buds have been filling in nicely, and its only been 4 days at the most since the got the backbuilding treatment. compare that to last pic before backbuild and you'll see the huge difference

I know what you mean bud. I live in a community with neighborhood watch types too. But I just buy 3 1 gallon jugs on Thursday night for a Fryday nute change. Looks like drinking water to neighbors. Took me a while to afford all the stuff to grow my meds. LED took quite a while. Had a ton of stuff in my home office. But I also had to get my garden ready from last year and all that stuff was under a big 250 Watt CFL in the basement surviving the winter. Tried to grow meds under the CFL but it was too hot in my small tent... not unlike the LED. I started with DH2O so I will finish with it. But next time it will be "faucet" water. Just like my veggies. My tomatoes are 16" tall and I still haven't replaced the cable for hanging support. Good luck in your water and grow.

Well what I doing here is legal on the state level, I just don't want my neighbors in my business, its always best to keep a low profile. You never know some Yahoo watched Weeds on TV and thinks my little tent full of medicine is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and does something stupid. I always plan for the lowest common denominator.
