Peyton & Pals Perpetual Playground

Yep - i just realized how much it actually sucks not to have any.. I normally don't smoke alot, but unfortunately i've been too friendly and supplied some of my closest with some of the good.

And i won't buy, i don't support criminals. So yup maybe i should get a AF going while i get used to this hempy method :)

Practice makes perfect. This spring I'm gonna be looking into doing some perpetual grows so I can up my yield and get a stockpile going. Then I'll start playing with more strains and CS

Hey Jummejum,
I got a 1 gallon wet/dry vacuum from WallyWorld for under $20. Works great to empty drained nutes from tote or whatever you use under bucket. I have to empty vacuum after feeding each plant since I add enough to replace the reservoir every feeding, which is everyday. Easier than adding tubes to buckets for sure. I would use gravity to feed under scrog. A hose from a nute bucket to plant bucket, with nutes higher than plant pot, would allow siphoning to feed plant. Just add your fresh mixed nutes to the nute bucket instead of the plant bucket. I hope my writing is clear and understandable.

Cool, yup i see :) Uhm, i'll keep that in mind. I'll try this method out now, and see where it gets me. I guess if i run out of height i'll probably go back to only 3 buckets, and "drain buckets".

I started with the 3 x 4 gallon buckets, bought 5 gallon buckets, cut em down to 4 inches, and it has worked just fine, besides not having a tool to drain out excess water. and they took up alot of place, so only able to do like 3 plants instead of 4.

What do you think about the size of my reservoir? I've drilled the hole 2 inches from bottom, and it still holds at least 2 ltr of water/nutrients. Might be to big?

Jummejum...
It's hard to figure your rez volume out due to your using 80% vermiculite and 20% perlite. 80% Vermiculite acts like a sponge and holds water too long for a hempy, in my opinion that is. Your rez includes whatever remains in the vermiculite. For that reason I can't say your rez is a certain amount. Next grow I would use 100% perlite if I were you. My rez is a gallon or more. Perlite doesn't hold water like vermiculite.

I'll post a picture of how my hempy bucket is done. I use the same bucket technique for my outside tomato garden and when I grow my tomato clones through the winter in my basement. My tomato plants are 4 years old now. The technique with 100% perlite works well for me.

Sorry WildJim, but i don't know where you have the 80/20 mix from? :-) I am growing in 100% clay pebbles :)

So sorry Jummejum. Got you confused with another member I guess. I think I might have told you my experience with hydroton. Needs real lot of wrincing out to get ph correct. I flushed the hell out of that stuff and still had problems with DWC drain ph. Drain rose well over 7.2 when nutes were 5.8. Changes seemed immediate pretty much. Never figured it out, might have been due to high rez temps or clay balls. Another member suggested I didn't flush the hydroton enough. Won't do DWC technique again.

I still suggest 100% perlite with hempy growing.

That's fine for 2 plants. Most ppl go on with more eventually. Hempy uses the tubes now & for a reason. All this stuff & these issues have been pretty well worked out. No since inventing the wheel?
If you're going to grow several strains, 4 plants or more, or both...keep it simple & just install the tubes. You can do 4 buckets in the time Jimbo is vacuuming & you can walk away & leave home.
Got quite a few strains feeding/drinking differently? Your going to get sick of that vacuum & not knowing for sure the level of nutes in your hempys.
Want or need to flush out the rez? What are you going to do under a net with say 4 plants? Problem solved with $10 & 15 mins of advanced hempying (I.e. the tubes).
I don't take credit for any of this because it's been all worked out for us. Follow the rabbit.

my hack of the Kindle was very successful

Chopped Fast last night. Was sloppy trimming just to have a good supply of trim and popcorn for butter. I ended up with 454 grams of bud. And 147 in trim. Trim was very close and small leaves and pieces of bud accidentally cut during trimming and popcorn buds. Had a helper and had to get in tent to dry quickly so pictures from this AM aren't so good. I'll repost in a week when drier.

Here are the Largest if you can see any

Here are the others. Helper came up with way to hang. Wasn't prepared for the amount needed to hang. Whew.

Want to grow a good auto. Heavyweight Seeds "Fast and Vast". You have my recommendations. Name says it all for this one.
