Perpetual Pics

The aerocloner is sterilized. I'm itching to start taking clones. I'm trying to do a better job "handling" my mother plants. They seem to get rather unruly. Pretty sure that I could fill her up with no problems and the some. Just not sure if I should wait 1-7 days before knowing the sex of three potential mothers or only clone the the known girlies.

I have a lot of possible Purple Kush clones. I really like that strain, unfortunately I believe I have a runt pheno. I'd guestimate that I SOG'd only that I'd get around 200 dried grams in a square meter. Under the same guestimate, I think I can go 800 with my other strains.

Lots of stress today. Sorry for the cerebral flatulence.

today is day 38 since initiating flowering with most of my plants. I decided today would be the day to take clones. I think my timing is about perfect. It usually takes three weeks for a clone's roots to develop where I like them. They should be in prime shape when I start harvesting.

I still don't know the sex of the Skunk #1 x Hazes so I didn't take any clones from them. I didn't look in last night. I'm thinking, from my last observations, that tonight I should be able to tell. It really looked like my Critical and one of the SKH's were female. Hopefully I can better see this evening. I plan on killing any male SKH. I don't want the pollen for breeding. My heart wouldn't be broken if the Critical were a male. I'd to make a Critical Holy Grail Kush.

Speaking of my Critical, she is a stanky lil biatch. I never noticed until taking clones from today. Imagine driving by a road killed skunk on a hot August day. That was exactly what she smells like in veg. I know the smell will change throughout her life span and curing. I hope it mellows because it was nauseating.

I left 5 spots open in the cloner for future SKH. Of the top of my head I took 7 Holy Grail Kush, 5 Blue Blood, 6 Purple Kush, and 7 Northern Light x Skunk #1. Um...that's not right. There's 31 clones all together. I'm too lazy to walk down stairs and check.

I think I have ten days before I start flushing the Northern Light Blue. I don't think I've been so excited for a harvest. Running out of medicine will do that to a person. I have to at least water the Osmocote Plus plants tonight. I'll try to take some pics.

:yummy:

Still wishing I had a better camera. I'm really not doing these plants justice.

Here's some Northern Light Blues.

Maybe I spoke too soon calling my Purple Kush a runt.

I have one Northern Lights x Skunk # 1 in flowering. I just uploaded all the taken pics. Some how I got a "led looking" effect in one.

Plants may look small in the pictures but I think I'll come close to 20 dried grams/plant. Six roughly fit per square foot. I'm pleased.

Sea of Green.

I'll be the first one to admit that I am not too familiar with Imperial measurements.

I stated a hopeful 20 dried grams per plant. The math works out to roughly seven plants per square foot.

Even if I average 10/per plant, that's still would be average to over a grm/watt.

And come on, really? I don't grow foliage.

Dude!!!! My admiration got lost in translation.

I don't doubt you are in the 20g/plant range or doubt your sq ft math.

The word I should have said, but obviously left out, was congratufluxalations. Good job :thumb:

Well, I grow using the Sea Of Green technique. If you crowd the plants they want to focus all their energy into the top buds. I like this because I get more cola weight and less lower, smaller or "popcorn" buds.

This time around I used a "lollipop" type of pruning. I removed all but the largest side branches when they were young. I also remove all the fan leaves on days 21 and 45 of flowering. This doesn't affect the plants in any negative way. It allows the light to penetrate and the bud sites full exposure resulting in larger and denser buds.

This works best with an Indica Dominant plant. My goal is to have one large cola bud or "stick-o-bud"

Looking good Josh. I think I'm going to go with a few more 2 liter soda bottle pots as I'm stressed for real estate these days. Your results are the convincer.

I still don't definitively know the sex of my Critical nor SKH's. It sure looks like calyxes and pistils are forming on all three. I realize that the Skunk #1 x Haze is Sativa dominant and slower to show, but dang.

The Critical looks female. The confusing part is her size. She went from cloner straight to 12/12 (more accurately 11.75 on and 12.25 off). She is nearly as tall as my Holy Grail Kushs that were veged for a week. I'm talking this plant is nearly 3' tall. That leads me to worry that she is a he. Time will tell.

We're having company over tonight to watch the game. I need to water and take some pics but it will most likely be later.

On a side note, giving those first clones a week of veg under 600 watts of Metal halide was a bit of a mistake. They don't need any veg time in this technique. I'll going to have to do some staking. That Purple Kush I showed in the last pics is starting to lay over because of the bud weight.

Another curious thing about that one Purple Kush is that she's starting to fox tail. I have flower around 20 plants from the same mother and this is the first time I've ever seen fox tailing. Oh well.

:Namaste:

I have a question for you Josh.
This morning I sat 4 clone cuttings out in the hallway near my bedroom. It stays lit but is dim. We have a meager 25 watt bulb at both ends of the hallway. Would it be fine to leave them there or do they need a dark period?

I run the lights in my veg tent 24 hrs-no veg time. I know there are others that insist on a day period, say 18 hours on, 6 off. I've never done that and don't plan to start.

In flower, though, it is pretty paramount to keep the 12 hours of lights out "dark". In nature there are stars, full moons, meteors, Northern Lights, etc and the plants are able to adapt. Being indoors is a little different.

I could not figure out why I kept getting inter sex (hermaphrodites) during my first indoor grows. I finally realized that a power strip I had inside the tent had a red indicator light. That little bit of light was enough to cause seeds. It was a shame because I killed all my mother plants before the discovery.

So, if you are just letting your clones hang out in a vegetative state, I think you will be just fine.

Really? Holy moly. I had no idea. I guess I have just been lucky to date - I have never exuded as much care in the extreme blackout-ness of my night phase as you had to in solving your problem.

Thanks for the tip. If I can learn from your mistakes and not have to remake them, and you back as well from me, well damn - that's about as good as forum participation gets. :-)

Cheers.

Learning from your mistakes, or others, is a key to life; whether in ones personal, professional, or growing lives. Everyone comes into this world knowing nothing. Knowledge is key. No one knows it all. Learning and growing (pun) is what life is all about.

Cheers Mate!
