Perpetual Pics

No, no I was joking.... I landed on the last page, and only saw your last post at the top of the page - which, without context, reads a bit funny - without some backscrolling. My apologies.

Your space seems to be developing well, Congrats on the new digs! :Namaste::peace:

LOL, no apologies necessary bro. :surf:

I think I have my game plan worked out for the rest of this year. Here's what I'm thinking:

Since I'm currently flowering in the smaller tent I can only fit about a dozen or so more 2 liters in there. With my current nutrients, keeping clones in Hempy Pots in veg doesn't work too well. I'm looking at some nice clones with no room to flower them.

I've been reading up on different folks' Hempy Journals, Doc Bud in specific. I guess before he went High Brix he ran Hempys using Osmocote + granular, slow release fertilizer instead of a three part hydro nutrient with additives as I do. So I did some more reading from different folks on different forums. Apparently people swear by the stuff. Some don't even PH their water if is within reason. Yeah, don't even flush at the end.

So, that got me thinking. I'm going to try and hold some of this next batch of clones in veg and give that Osmocote + a shot. I figure I won't be losing anything. I'm looking at the calendar. By the time I harvest this batch those clones should be pretty prime if I use the 3.5 gallon Hempy containers. That's also when Fall Quarter starts at the college and I'll be working again. I'll be able to invest more money into the garden.

Anyone reading this have experience using Osmocote + with cannabis?

I've been wanting to experiment with a Sativa or Sativa Dominant strain. Some folks have me rethinking my Indica preference. There's a lot of good Sativa Strains out there but I am broke.

Then I got to thinking...I have four freebie beans that are regular Kerala x Skunk #1. I did some quick research and decided to germinate them. I hope I get at least one female.

I think everyone is familiar with Skunk #1. Here's the stats on Kerala or Kerala Krush.

The Real Seed Company - Kerala
Region: Tropical India

Genetics: Pure South Indian Ganja Cultivar
Latitude: 9°N
Harvest: late December to mid February
Height: 2m
Yield: 1 - 2kg of dried flowers in natural environment
Characteristics: minty flavoured golden buds with a euphoric, energising high; small dark seeds
Grow Type: Greenhouse or Outdoors

This is a classic Keralan strain from the highland growing regions of the Western Ghats, reputed to produce the finest ganja in South India. Cultivated at altitudes of around 1700m-2100m this Keralan line is a fine representative of one of the world's oldest and deepest ganja cultures. Keralan strains are also reputed to have played a key role in the creation of the famous Californian Haze lines.

Kerala is a classic sativa strain with distinctive bamboo-like narrow leaves, heavy side branching and multiple bud sites. Plants typically reach heights of around 2 metres and not much more. Buds are harvested as late as mid February, by which time they cure to a golden brown colour and have a tangy minty aroma.

The aroma when smoked is heavy, sweet and pungent. The effect from this Keralan strain is up and creative, racy and energizing, but without an edge of panic or paranoia. It is a refined high quality strain with great breeding potential.

Added: And here's the info for the Kerala x Skunk #1:

Seedsman - Indian Skunk
Genetics: South Indian Kerala x Skunk No. 1
AKA: "Kerala Krush"
Variety: Mostly Sativa (87.5%)
Type: F1 Hybrid
Harvest Date: Late-October
Flowering Period: 10 weeks
THC Content: 13-15%
No. of Seeds Per Packet: 10
Characteristics: Early Maturation

South Indian Kerala was bred by Sacred Seeds in the late 1970s and is one of the finest sensimillas to be found anywhere in the world.

It was crossed with Skunk No.1 by Sacred Seeds to give an earlier maturation and bigger yield. It has the look of skunk with the taste and smells of India.

Yeah Lester, I'm curious about them. Everything I've read sounds good. I thought right now would be the perfect time as I have mucho real estate in the veg tent. You will definitely know how they turn out.

When the light comes on this evening I'll take a few pics although not much has changed.

FYI Dusty Kiefers is currently on day 58 of flower of the Kerala X Skunk Dusty's Closet

I ran three Kerala x Sk1 last fall. Mine didn't turn out well - my fault - but I can tell you how they grow. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'll trade you for advice on the Blue Blood I just started. ;)

I grew the Blue Blood the same as all the rest. I used Botanicare Kind Nutrients using their Enhanced Hydro Recipe minus the Hydrogaurd because Perfect Gardens didn't carry it. I substituted ZHO in its place and went with the Raw Sweet.

I took the clones out of the aerocloner when the roots were around 6" long (three weeks in the cloner). I put them in the 2 Liter Hempy pots with 75% perlite, 25% vermiculite. They went straight into 12/12 and were watered with the full strength Week 7 recipe from the beginning. That's 8 ML Base, 16.5 Bloom, 3 Liquid Karma, 3 of Hydroplex, 2 of Sweet, and around a teaspoon of ZHO/gallon. Water was maintained to the best of my ability at 6 PH.

I used the ZHO every other watering for the first month. The ZHO is benificial micro organisms. I don't know how well it works in my grow medium. I just figured what the heck.

After about a month I started adding some micro, liquid sea weed, and some bloom boosters I had left over from another company. I pushed over 2000 ppm on two occasions-last couple feeding. I was using a year old 600 watt Sunmaster Super HPS bulb in an air cooled hood off of a digital ballast. This was in my 4' x 4' tent. I also had two of those 2' "plant or aquarium" flourecent bulbs wired vertically in the corners.

Also I have one of those CO2 emiters that's just a bag full of damp inoculated medium. Some sort of fungus does the work.

I did not use Light Addict's Back Building technique on the Blue Bloods. Over all I think what helped a lot was lowering my light about 4" from the tops the last three weeks of flowering. I wouldn't do this unless I knew it wouldn't burn the plants. I also have a large oscilating fan to help disperse the heat. That's about it.

I think in about three weeks I'll be able to start taking clones off of my new Blue Blood mother plant. I really love this strain. I don't think that last pheno had the advertised 10% CBD levels but I don't know for sure. What I like about it is that it is pretty hardy, clones fast, finishes fast, stays pretty squat, and the buds look amazing---great bag appeal if that is something you're interested in.

The taste is a little different. It's not Blue Berry nor OG. I don't even think an imagined combined flavor is accurate. The main taste is kind of musty, like a damp cabin on the beach, but in a good way. Sure wish I still had some nugs of that.

It sounds like Blue Blood is pretty well-behaved! :thumb:

Indian Skunk grew very much like the WWxSk1 I just ran. They were both vigorous and tall and grew large pointed colas, somewhat fluffy, but I didn't manage to finish either one properly. Iffy soil and high heat on the Kerala and the WW hermied on me.

Be prepared for a larger plant than usual. I think it can handle nutes well, so don't be afraid to push it. If you have a bloom booster, the buds could use some intervention to tighten them up a bit. If there's anything you don't see on my journal, just ask. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I just did a PHOTO SHOOT which included my Kerala X Skunk. She's on day 80.

Graytail, I went through much of that journal of yours. Those Kerala x Sk1 of yours were very nice looking! Made me even happier that I'm starting them. Sorry you ran into issues. I think I'll do at least "okay" as long as I get a decent female.

B A R, do you have the pics in your journal? I'll have to do some snooping after supper.

So, on to the update. Here's the good news. The new beans are really putting forth a hybrid vigor. They have really shot up since the last pics. I think I'll be cloning from the new genetics this weekend. I want to sample the Critical and sex the Skunk #1 x Hazes.

Here's the new Blue Blood. She had a bit of a rough start but is starting to come into her own.

Clones. Almost where I want them.

I picked up the Osmocote Plus for trials.

So now for the potentially great news. The clones in the flower tent are simply exploding. I've only been feeding them transition formula nutes. Tomorrow night will be a week from going 12/12. But darn, I've never had growth like this. The only thing I can think to be responsible is 600 watts from a new HPS bulb in a 2' x 4' tent. But as of right now I am stunned and am thinking good thoughts for this yield.

Nice update Josh. Those roots are as white and healthy as can be. And YES I sure do.

Great Josh, they look growing pretty great!! :bravo::bravo::bravo:
Did you name them? :goof:

I'm just going to straight up double-post and share this.

today_355.jpg

After two days all four Kerala x Skunk #1 regular beans have popped. This is my favorite part of all this, new genetics. I could not care less what's normally coming out of the cloning machine because they are almost always already previously know to me.

Speaking of clones, I made a deal a couple weeks ago to trade one each of all my current strains for a clone of a buddy's White Widow. I figured I'll have plenty of clones hanging out in veg, why not do some swapping. I have another friend with some great genetics that I'm working on a barter with. I also have some concentrated miticide as a free gift from JJ Bones that I will use before bring any new plant into my indoor space.

:peace:

You just reminded me to check my paper towel Josh.
