Perpetual Pics

Nature sure is fascinating.

I calculated that I have around 400 sq ft of playground in the new basement. Slowly but surely I'm putting it to use. I'd love to have a little breeding program or just create my 'own' killer strain.

Well, I had a PH issue. Nothing too major but nothing to be pleased about. I suppose I went too long without calibrating my pen. I think I watered with what must have been a PH of 8. I started to get some Nitrogen lock-out and some micro lockout. It affected my former HGK mother the worst, but I'm sure she'll bounce back.

I've been doing a lot of research about different nutrient lines. I was really going to switch to General Organics until I read some pretty disturbing things about that line. Among others is that they are only for soil/soiless substrates. I also read a letter from a company rep stating that they aren't 100% organic, so much so that they can not be sold over the counter in my state because we take that label pretty seriously.

When my current line is out, I'm guessing around the end of Sept, I'm just going to go with Advanced Nutrients bundled master Hydro line. I tired of buying PH pens, solutions, watching plants (occasionally) suffer from the wrong PH. I've read very good things about this product. There's a dude on youtube-Rico. He works for them, has his own youtube show, and is a pretty known figure in the cannabis world. I get a kick out of watching his show. I think I'll be giving Advanced a shot. But as always, I am up to advice/recommendations.

TWo days ago I gave the plants a 50-60% flush with just PH'd water. This morning I watered them with the Botanicare Kind Master Hydro Recipe at regular strength in addition to including a half-dose Micro Nute from another company. I'm amazed how fast they respond. Only thing that worries me is usually after I mix nutes with my tap water it will read around 6.7. Today it read 5.7. The weather hasn't changed, no drastic water table drop.

I'm wondering if my meter is crapping out. When I calibrated it the other day I couldn't get it to lock onto the 4.01 solution only the 7.0.
That's kinda weird. Well, I used up the last of the solution so I'm going to have to wing it until I get some $$$.

I have maybe 1/2 hr of light proofing to do. I just need to make my plastic door. I think I'm going to wait one more day to switch the timer on. I also think I'm going to leave my Metal Halide bulb in for the first couple of weeks. I don't want the former HLG mom stretching too much and over-shadowing the clones.

I hear you John and agree.

I was just price checking. I'm currently using the HM brand digital pen that Perfect Gardens lists (without the discount) for $52.95. The best listed for pens is most likely the Blue Lab for $97.20. A person still needs testing solution to calibrate even though it is very inexpensive.

I calibrated that HM the other day. In the calibration mode you can set it to recognize 4.0, 5.0, and 7.0 PH's. I could get it to lock onto the 7 but not the 4. I just checked it a minute ago with the 4.01 and it came to 4.1.

So, I did a quick search online. I can get a years worth-size of Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect Master Grower Bundle for $84.95. I think I'm going to try and go that route and just see. Half a year's size for $52.95--maybe a better choice.

Hey Josh,

I went through a similar process. I migrated from GH (FloraNova line), and the need to constantly test pH with meters that didn't work much past 3-6 months (Hannah cheapies). I ended up with a BlueLab pen (worth every penny), and went with Advanced pH perfect line, Sensi Bloom and about half the line. I don't test for pH anymore (I stopped after never finding it out of range), I just mix and apply. I also haven't flushed a single plant since I've been using it, which is about the best thing I can think of for someone that grows inside, and doesn't have a yard or basement (I'm on the top floor, IN the city). I don't use it for Veg though, I'm using the Growology which I've had good luck with too. I think you'll enjoy it. :cheertwo:

That is very reassuring to know CareStaker. I was actually wondering about PHing during the flush. I currently flush with Clearex. When I used that old brand that used to be a forum sponsor I never flushed and the finished product was quite amazing. I think I'm getting heavier and denser buds using the Botanicare Kind nutrients. But I think my potency has dropped. My my tolerance has built up.

At any rate I'm using the Clearex because it was in the Master Hydro recipe. Honestly though, I'm just not satisfied with it. Big nugs won't burn quite all the way. I'll get black ash along with the white. I flushed for at least 1 1/2 weeks in passive hydro. Time for a change.

Although I haven't had to flush while using the Sensi, I still do water with FloraKleen till runoff 10-14 days prior to harvest, and then no nutes, just molasses ... so similar. After some time in the jars, and as long as I don't go nuts with the PPM, you can snap one right through a bong without any issue. Burns nice.

was the old sponsor, a three letter company.. :)

It's not like I don't have anything to do. Yesterday I found, what I suspect is a broken sewer pipe. Unfortunately it's under the basement concrete slab. It's cast iron. It could have just settled and a joint came apart. Or, what I fear, the entire pipe needs to be replaced to up to the main sewer tie-in. I'm guessing That's 10' below the surface of my lawn. Fun, fun. Who doesn't love playing in sewage?

theres some kinda new things some plumbers do
don't have to dig up the pipe I forget what it was but it opens it back up and theres something they get in there
dopnt remember exactly

Yeah, there's like a diaphragm thingy that can be put in. It's like un-rolling a condom inside the pipe. I don't have that technology though. I took out a section of the shag carpet. The wet spot has seemed to dissipate. I ran laundry last night and both of us showered. It's basically dry now. I'm going to just leave it be for the time being.

This took some backscrolling to figure out.....

???, What was the confusion C.S?

There is a means to un-furrule a plastic-esk liner inside a pipe. Supposed to be cheaper than replacing. As I am a nuclear and aerospace grade pipe welder I believe I have that part covered. I also was the 5th generation in my family's general contracting business. 27 years of busting my back.

Once supper is done I need to do some watering. Perfect time to up load some pics. I'll take a couple of my redneck light proof door. It doesn't look like much but I didn't have to pay anything and it works better than I had anticipated.

So here's my red neck door to the room. Yup, had to use what was on hand. But heck, it works better than I thought. There was an according door that wouldn't close all the way because some one ran electric lines through the opening.

Outside.

It works. That's all that matters.

Here's what my veg tent is looking like. I killed the Northern Light Blue mother but took three clones from her.

Here's what I'm working with in the flowering tent. Today is day four from inducing flowering.

No, no I was joking.... I landed on the last page, and only saw your last post at the top of the page - which, without context, reads a bit funny - without some backscrolling. My apologies.

Your space seems to be developing well, Congrats on the new digs! :Namaste::peace:
