Perpetual Grow Among Other Things!

lol thanks FE. I love it. I hope it works for you bro. I am def getting the fogger now. I thought last time I wouldnt need it, as I had 75% success. This time it was 25% success. Not the right direction. And it takes me 3-4 weeks to get to transplant. So, yeah the fogger is the way I will go now. I just remembered though, I plan on growing from seed next go round. IDK. I will decide after I get my seeds from CK. Anyway, thanks for answering. I am always checking out your grow btw. I just got busy as crap this year. Something in the water I guess. But I am always reading. :)

Thank you Bama!

I know you always stop in and of course we all get real busy. I also just post weekly really.. A little more on other peoples stuff than my own now. Not really helping cause I am not usually comfortable still but getting there.. Just enjoying other peoples fun...

I don't get a lot of traffic on this thread but funny when I throw it on the blog page I get quite some traffic. I am not sure if it google's different or something? Most visitors are not members so must be something odd... But regardless I enjoy posting and logging my stuff...

Thanks for being part of it...

That being said

UPDATE TIME!

Waiting... Waiting.... Waiting...

OK so time to throw up a good size update... been lazy....

So I am really Psyched... Really Really

Lights.. All three here on Tuesday hopefully...

BOOM!

Time to get that power meter moving!

So since I do not have them yet I can not show you them but I'd like to talk about them for a minute.
New T5 4 foot 8 bulb coming for veg. Huge improvement... Huge... I am running a 2 foot 4 bulb now. I am too stoned to do the math but it is alot more output... I needed this as for one the 2 foot has a small foot print so I have had to run it high up. Thus it doesn't seem to have the power at that height to be very effective. It is working don't get me wrong but some things where leading me to think it has light deficiencies as well as slower than I would like growth in veg. So that is that in Veg... Testing and results to follow...

So in Flower now that I have the room complete and res tubs all set... I needed one or two more LED's so Kudos to mars. I ordered two on Friday and they shipped Friday night.. will be here Tuesday... maybe Wednesday latest... Thanks to them for not f-in around and getting it done. Even emailed me back and forth about some daisy chain questions... I have a plant in that spot now that is under HPS but i want it to be under LED .. Soon enough.....

Sorry left for a few hours mid post... lol

Where was I...?? oh yah ..

So things are looking pretty good over all... in Veg plants are all growing extremely well with no known issue's at all..

IMGP11061.JPG

The plants are all coming close to flower time all at once. But some of these are duplicates of plants in flower right now. So some will just be recloned soon. Maybe even tomorrow. ..well today now.

IMGP11091.JPG

Bubba kush on the front and I think train wreck in the back. The bk was a clone that fully flowered and now revegged. So it is all monstered up. I will heavy defol it soon.. Let it regrow some of it and in to flower...

The TW in the back I am not sure what yet possible reclone.. One TW in Flower now...

IMGP11071.JPG

WW back left... DCC back right.. Forget RF i think TW

IMGP11081.JPG

This is the fun tub!

ACDC in back right is growing nice.. Small forming strain.. Thin... Very healthy roots and really starting to come around great but I am not use to it's small structure etc.. It may end up vegging quite some time before i am comfortable cloning... we'll see

Left middle and Rt middle are SD and HG seedlings growing amazing. I forgot how quick seeds take off and just go... It takes forever before they are ready to flower but how simple and easy seeds are...

The front two are the clones I took and popped direct into hydroton with top feed. Just a test to see if it will work but I do need a PC clone soon cause it just went to flower so I may break out the fogger again.

So Veg is all cranking along well. I wish the table size for the veg stuff was bigger as I am not letting the stuff get taller and bigger in Veg but Possibly changing around some tubs etc may help. And recloning some soon as well will help too...

So over in flower...

IMGP11102.JPG

Things are going real well...

The last pic in the HPS is the PC and I am looking forward to that girl. It has become one of my personal favorites and I am down to some choice nuggets I intended to save. So one must me run again!!! She will be the first to get basically a full run on the new system and new Flower lights.

IMGP11152.JPG

This is a small WW as it was thrown in too young on purpose. Running a drip system recirculating is a waste with almost no plants on it. So I needed to get back to a 1 to 2 week cycle... Crazy! with the new set up and when it starts perpetuating I will harvest every 1-2 weeks except the occasional exotic strain (SD etc)

IMGP11132.JPG

This is a DCC... I am still unsure if i like this strain. I have not sampled it yet under full cure but it is close. It is not bad at all.. Don't get me wrong... But the Bubba Kush harvested at same time I already love. That BK was horribly deficient. I look forward to running it clean ...

IMGP11142.JPG

Just like this TW that either dealt with a deficiency most likely or just never stretched from clone age. I decided awhile ago not to defol as much in flower so I let it grow like a small bush. It has grown remarkably well post stoppage and should be quite tasty overall.. Just a small little girl though.. TW is tasty to me...Big or small all the girls have a place for me ;)

So I think I covered it all.... Stay tuned as I am sure i will be posting some stuff about the future lights and stuff.... Not sure if i Posted about the TW being attached to the new flush bucket. New goal all plants 2 week flush... No harvest until I see leaves yellow. That way I know it is pulling nutes out of plant and should be cleaner....
Flush bucket and top feed are neat... Couple hoses to switch and plug it in .. Really that simple... 5 gallon res with PH only... Simple Simple...

Be safe.. Thanks for stopping by

Light upgrade Comments...

Ok so a quick update with some questions that hopefully some peops can answer.

So first off the stuff is all set up. Two new Led's in flower. New T5 in Veg. It feels different as soon as you walk in the Veg room. The T5 is bright.. Really bright... The plants in Veg seriously love it.. Well except......

But no they are all growing very very fast now. substantially faster. The extra juice is definitely showing why it is worth it.

The two LED's in flower seem dimmer than the HPS .. well not really but it doesn't feel like the hot sun as HPS does. But it is more true wattage as I was running the HPS at 300W. I recall feeling this way last time when I got my first LED but I have had some good harvests.. So let the spectrum pull off it's magic. I have one PC that is already stretching like mad under them. The two new LED's are going to be for my "height" plants. They will remain move able separate to make it more adjustable. I am going to make the reflector into more of a fixed height as I think I will make that side into a scrog in the future. I didn't like all the maintenance and the fact it locks the plants in place. But certain strains that stretch alot I think it will help regulate it better. Yield of course too....

6 new clones running in the fogger...
For Bama's sake I am trying to pay decent attention to it so I will give the process a break down...

Clones went in and 4-5 drooped flat over night... Clone has 150ppm PH'd to 6 GH (old stuff) nutes with one air stone and the small fogger (it bubbles some too). I gave them one or two top sprays with plain tap and let em be... I realized I was again starving them of oxygen and popped one of the clone pucks out so it breaths even better. Voila 10 hours later all of them stood right back up tall... Bad leaves are still hurt but I lose those usually cloning anyway. so every 10-12 hours I give them a good foliar spray and thats it. No dome stuff. Even the ACDC which is supposedly very hard to clone had no issue's once it could breath. I haven't cloned in a bit so I hadn't recalled how I achieved better air flow in the cloner. Once I recalled it .. really just the next day... Bam it is doin it's thang! No roots yet but they will... they will...

OK so here is where I need some input...

I am just now starting to see some tacoing on "new" leaves in flower and veg. I am not talking crispy. If you look at the new growth leaves the best explanation is they have muscles on the leaves.. Sorta look puffy like. Not dry or crispy. I know I know .. Pic's... I will tonight. The T5 is much hotter and way brighter so I have run temps slightly higher. well not really let me explain. and again this is happening in both so I don't think it is temps. I have not hit above 80 yet.... So what I mean is the new T5 has better intensity.... The base of the plants the temp climbs to almost 80 but the canopy never gets above 75. Not where it is shaded but where the light can get to the tubs around smaller stuff...

So in flower (i know this is backwards) it was 6.0-6.1 ph. and in Veg 5.4-5.6. I have been letting them fluctuate as they wanted to with out correcting it and it has been great to this point.... Plants have grown better this method than any of my other grows.. Thanks VI ...

So I didn't see the "Taco's" until I had just changed both Res's two days ago so all the PH stuff is a moot point as with CES nutes it will now cycle through the PH's for a couple days... PH starts down near 4.3 and last time they went back to the reading above on their own and I kinds left them .. After I diluted flower If i recall back then. I diluted it trying to get the PH down and it always seem to go back so I said f it and let it do it.

This tacoing is not overly concerning yet but I after I post some picks if peops can chime in... This seem only on new growth and I am have growth explosions going off all over the place. So It is not stuntin' nuthin! The leaves are all leaning up better than ever under the new light so I didn't think it was a heat issue. The roots all looked good other than the nute stains... Fresh res with DMZ as usual but I saw nothing bad in there...

So I will sit tight and keep checking to see if it continues or starts to correct...

So also a question... Is a certain amount of tacoing normal if the stuff is still lush? I mean the stuff looks ok as it is part of a lot of growth. Am i seeing something that i should have been seeing before and never did? Actually thinking about it... yah I don't recall seeing it in many other grows.. but anyway...

Have a good day

:peace:

Mmmmmm....tacoooo.
How's the air in there comrade?
You have a ton of extra light now, have you reinforced the breezy feeling to help the plants settle in?

:bongrip:Vlad

FE,

I also get tacoing. Sometimes very severe tacoing. It usually is corrected by raising the pH to ~6.0 and giving a splash of Cal/Mag. I use the pH perfect AN nutes. So in order to raise my pH I add ro water (its pH is 6.5) and then add 40 - 50 mL of the Cal/Mag. I have a larger res and all than you so you might not want to add that much. It is about 25% of what the bottle says to use. If this does not correct the problem in a day or two, I generally do a res dump and start over. LOL.

Take it with a grain of salt though. I am still not sure why I am getting tacoing and if it is the right answer. It does work, so I am going with that. But I would def keep looking around. Have a great weekend buddy. :)

Great stuff bama. Thanks for responding. CES nutes drop it way low for 48 hours and I did a res change about that time ago. I will see how it looks tonight. It should be settled in. All good stuff appreciate the support 420 fam.

Taco Leaves!

Ok so today it seems a little worse. I added an extra fan in Veg and realigned other one... I also added one on the PC in flower but if this was going on before it went into flower then that could be the reason (just hadnt shown tacoism yet) Or it is heat related because the new T5 and the new LED's are the ones doing it.. The plants under my other LED are not showing signs and have been on a diff res.

I mean look at this light...

IMGP11193.JPG

So the leaves...

IMGP11162.JPG

I also noticed some spots like these....

IMGP11173.JPG

Sp possibly the issue was nute or res related but it was all replaced a couple days ago. The roots on plants have no film.. squeaky clean. I added a little DMZ in there anyway...

PH in Veg went all the way up to 6.4 but i was going to wait to dilute it down ..

In flower it only made it back up to 4.9 so far but last time it took the extra day compared to Veg.

So plenty of more fans now and more specifically blowing...

I also may work on a way to move the light higher... there is a ceiling duct in the way so hmmm...

Ok so I will show the rest since I had the camera Out

IMGP11202.JPG

there are the clones... So they are all doing fine! Waiting..

IMGP11182.JPG

Most of these plants will be culled... sad as they are all really perfect for flower now.. but I have four in Flower now and I want the last two spots for the Sour Diesel and Holy Grail. I will throw the best in as soon as I harvest the TW in there....

Check it out...
IMGP11262.JPG
IMGP11272.JPG

That TW was a clone that just couldn't grow due to my noobism. But I salvaged it into that bush! It has one more week of flush...

IMGP11152.JPG

And this one is a WW that I had topped.. One side when I HST'd it kinda well i was too agressive.. so I made that into a clone in the top feed. Still not dead but no idea if it will get roots.. havent looked and none out of pot yet. The Plant didnt like it and it stunted bad.. Growing but uncertain if it will be worth it in the end... No extra cost to me just my time....

IMGP11231.JPG

The DCC is on the left and it is a hearty strain.. It is a week behind the WW but it far surpassed it in growth....

IMGP11253.JPG

Then last I have that PC and it is the only one under the new LED's .. Almost 400 true watts of spectrum! It has the taco shit too so what the fuck ever....

Opps sorry...

IMGP11222.JPG
IMGP11212.JPG

Ok so it is actually doing some amazing growing just as the last PC did. I miss this strain. I do have some but only my bestest buds from last time So I will wait...

So i guess that is really about it....

Chime up if someone notices something on those leaf pic's

Thanks for stopping by

Tacoing is typically heat but in reality it is a relative thing. It is also drooping. I suspect the aeration in the water is a bit low so the plant is having a hard time taking up water and not transpiring enough.

Try throwing in some Orca if you are not running sterile. And if you are not running sterile maybe lets talk about making your own tea that will fix everything that can go wrong?

Orca also contains Mycos that will help with some other issues you have been having.

I added a bigger pump and Air to the Veg res last night hopefully that helped... Yes sterile... I know... But for now i am going to just stick with it as I had dropped a ton of cash when I converted to CES stuff... But yah I guess as soon as I use this stuff up I will give Live a try... The aeration would definitely make sense though... I appreciate it VI. Do taco's leaves come out of it? Or does it only clear up the new growth? Just trying to figure out how to tell if it is corrected...

So a little update ...
The tacoism still persists and the temps should not be the issue at all. 72-75 now consistent. PH had risen to 6.4 and was still there this am so I used low PH'd water to bring it down to 6.2 for now... The leaf deficiency look whether related or not is definitely more noticeable. This issue must have been cropping up before the new lights. Major aeration in the veg res now and i bumped the feed to 15 on 15 off in case the pool in each res is not having enough oxygen in off time. No bugs.. looked... Roots look really good.. no film at all clean...

Well not really sure on this one...

hopefully one of those things will correct it and i just haven't seen it show yet...

Thanks for looking

Awesome setups man with beautiful plants to boot, I'm going to have to reference this post as I begin to experment with hydro.

Thank you NW for your kind words.. I try to keep it real and honest. I also can't seem to leave stuff alone so you will always see something interesting. Currently I have some small issue's. But when I get them squared away it really is a simple and good setup. The 420 community is a big reason there are tons of people here to help and I owe them alot

Don't hesitate ever to comment or ask questions... Nothing is a silly question except the one you dont ask...

Cloner Update....

Cloner update!!!

So totally shattered all FE records for root production. BOOM!

ACDC could go in the pot today (day 5) with plenty of roots. It had nubs on day 3 roots on 4. All have roots besides one (forget which) but the ACDC is a gentle strain and both took with no issue's
I didn't even heat the res this time maybe that was better. Best part is it wasnt even a clean run...The first day I forgot to vent the tub so it wilted most of them. 5 of 6 have roots and all different strains... Couple more days in the cloner as I had better luck letting the roots grow some before sending off to veg. But I am on topfeed now and this is my first batch from cloner to top feed. I understand that it will have zero issues carrying roots down once they have established. The seeds I planted loved it... Bama this method is the best I have found or have read about.. Remember it was just ph .. 110 ppm added base nutes... 40 ppm water. that was it... It is a delicate balance.. still need air and stuff read the plants but jeez... kicked ass...

I guess I will continue with my situation.... I appear to have corrected what ever ailed my plant. I am kinda bummed that I do not know what the answer was. And I am not 100 % sure it is fixed. But I believe it is just the damage is damage. Growth and all is fine.. They did slow down a couple days some but seem to have resumed. It is hard to tell if new growth is coming in with same situation... But i dont believe so. I'll snap some pics in a bit.. this was just suppose to be a cloner thing...

So I added major air to the flower res and added some more to veg. Did the res changes a week ago. Seem to be holding steady. So here is what I think.... and really feel free to pipe up and throw some shit at my theory...

I don't think it was air but the increase is never a bad thing really.
The res had not changed in veg for 3 plus weeks or so... The plants where hitting some serious growth. I added the new T5 and the growth and water intake etc spiked. The first to probably run low was the cal which cause some leaf issue's that did not look like what I was use to as I have only seen cal or mag issue's in flower before.. but that's not it...

But in combination it had to be leaf heat burn on the tacoing..... And it was hot enough to permanently damage the leaves as they are not coming out of it. I am shocked as it didnt hit above 80 but temp isnt really the same as intensity is it ?...430 watts of T5 on them things. I do have to say this is about the 5th time I've switched lights and never have my plants liked it... probably just my noobism but damn.

Res steady as 66 degrees and roots have been looking a little tan but clean all over so.. I'll keep checking them too...

All I can do is watch them and keep going.. But Like a few days and a couple more plants to flower and I will cull almost all of them and start with the clones again... such as the life of recloning instead of keeping Mom's

Anyway I'll see if I can pop up some pics soon....

Hey Brotha Hows Everything going? :thumb:

Not as good as I like but still plugging along.... Trying to get a better understanding of all the newness and struggling a little so far... Beating up the girls some but getting close to dialed in. Thanks for stopping by Cronic!
