I’ve read that variegation is from cytoplasmic inheritance from the mother plant. If there is variegation at the calyx that holds the seed then that seed should carry the variegation. I grow 4o’clocks that do it. And 4 o’clock’s were the flowers studied originally that they discovered cytoplasmic inheritance. I must be really stoned, that was tough to type.
