PeeJay's Perpetual Organic Homebrewed Soil - Stealth Cabinet And Greenhouse Grow

Oh yeah, you nailed it on that one, PeeJay - trichs everywhere - nice!

Thanks McLoadie. Nope no foliar feeding for this one. It has only eaten from the soil. I did some minor top dressing after the transplant with some yum yum and high P guano to recharge the soil around the rootball after switching to 12/12. It had one watering with a simple tea that I brewed to charge two batches of newly mixed soil. She didn't seem to like that.

The fermentation extract from the dandelions is just an experiment and will get tested on the OG and Panthers in veg and early flower. The soil works so well I don't really see a need for this drench or that foliar... It's just something to mess around with.

In another week I'll start leaving the Darkstar out in the greenhouse over night (unless it gets very cold.) Overnight lows in the 50's may drive some color from the purple kush genetics.

wish it got cold enough where I am lol maybe some other islands on the side of the mountain lol

All the young'uns have been potted up the last few days. Yesterday I started a little training on the OG. She's looking great! 26 days old today. The top two nodes were clipped off and a couple of higher fan leaves shading lower branches were removed. These got squeezed and two plentiful brix readings were 13.25 / 13.25. I also removed the two lowest branches and first set of fan leaves from the bottom. She has nice tight node spacing and is branching well. I'm not doing any tie-downs - just a little manual encouragement to get her going in the rectangular shape I desire..

I was thinking about the Sage n' Sour. Sativa doms aren't my cup-o-tea. They make me nervous when I smoke 'em. I put the S n' S in a one gallon pot with flower soil and she's been under 12/12 for a couple of days now. She's stretched like mad! You can see one of the WP's in the picture next to her. They are the same age but the WP has twice as many nodes!

Oh, I forgot! The OG is in a 3 gallon pot now ~ 12'' diameter. It will go into a 7 gallon to flower if I keep the Sn"S or a ten if I decide to murder the Sn'S. I'm leaning towards platicide at the moment - we will see.

Woo did that girl want to stretch for the sky! The Sage n Sour is definitely a sativa dom high, although it has some very nice body calming attributes, the pheno I am currently smoking if I had to make a guesstimate I would say she is ~60/40 S/I. If I was to harvest on the recommended breeder description she would have been too heady. #2 came down today which went an extra week+ we will compare the effects here soon :Namaste: Your plants look to be enjoying your care PeeJay, also loving that waxy leaf shine, beauty! :bravo:

Beautiful, shiny plants, Peejay.

I really love seeing them!

The SnS/WP photo reminds me of the two wives at the horse races in Mary Poppins - one tall, skinny wife and one, short fat wife.

:tokin:

If I can ever steel myself to watch that frightening movie again, Dres, I'll see what you mean. Until then I'll take your word for it. :laughtwo:

CA, your SnSs are so pretty it may be hard to kill mine! It will really come down to space when I move the OG into flower. The one regret I have with my stealth flower cabinet is the small dimensions. I know I'll like the OG smoke. The SnS I'm not sure about. I had a sack of Sour Diesel back in November and it made me way too jumpy - even though it was tasty, pretty, strong smoke. I have lots of White Panther (50/50 hybrid) in the jar already and more coming up in a few months... Things don't bode well for the future of the SnS. The seed was a freeby. I just don't feel the love for it...

The large shiny fan leaf on that OG is beautiful. It's a foreshadow of things to come. It's like we're all members in the most beautful plant in the world growers club.

ill agree to that calyx

Looking lovely in the house that PJ built.
I usually don't have much to say lately pj, but this specimen looks so nice I had to. It looks as though this plant is expressing its genetics nicely. I like the way the leaves are tipped, the plant is obviously healthy, and your time estimate appears to be accurate. I hope you're not feeding this plant foliarly. Good growing pj!
Good to hear from you Mack. It just hasn't been the same without you.

Looking lovely PJ! That OG looks so happy!

There was one thing I wanted to tell you about that I forgot a while ago. I think your method of soaking the smartpots once in a while (with water or tea) makes a lot of sense to me. When I transplanted my P4 and White Diamond I found that although water was dripping from the bottoms after about 3L of very slow watering from the top in a 5gl pot, the bottom five inches or so was still much much drier than the soil above it.

Keep up the great work!

I never got around to making my DIY high-brix foliar spray last week, but I got it going this afternoon. I gathered about a pound of dandelion leaves and wild arugula. I focused my gathering on the newest growth because it has more growth hormones in it and this process is supposed to extract them. This is a Korean natural farming technique. The whole Korean natural farming thing is pretty interesting. Google it. I chose the dandelions and wild arugula because they both have high calcium and phosphorous content as well as deep roots that probe deep into poor soils. The overall trace mineral content in these two greens makes them a good choice. Supposedly the fermentation process yields readily soluble and easily absorbed nutrients.

You want half the weight of the plant material in brown sugar or molasses. I used brown sugar.

fol3.jpg

When you sprinkle sugar on strawberries and let them sit, they give up juice. In culinary terms this process is called maceration. Osmotic pressure ruptures the cell membranes and juices pour out. The same principal is at work here. Massage the sugar into the leaves and tear them up. Look how it shrinks down after a massage and sitting for a half-hour.

fol2.jpg

Put the resulting leaf slop into a jar and cover the top with a paper towel. Stash the jar in a warm dark place and let it go. There is natural yeast on the leaves and it is going to go nuts. After a week I should be able to pour the resulting juice off the leaf mass. The juice then gets an equal amount of molasses added to it to kill any bacteria left in it and stabilize the fluid. The fluid will get diluted 1part fluid to 500 parts RO water for foliar feeding (3/4ml for 1 liter of liquid.)

I was contemplating killing off the Sage n' Sour when I saw how huge it stretched under 12/12. Instead I topped the crap out of it. Love the hollow stem! It shot up like four inches in two days! It is branching nicely and I'll keep it in a one gallon pot and flower it out. I should have taken a picture of it today (five or so days later,) but I forgot!

The Darkstar, Maude, hit the 8 week mark yesterday and I did a tric check. There are a few ambers on the sugar leaf shown here, but not many on buds. I'm going to give it another week or so. Probably she'll get chopped a week from Sunday. I have a sample bud from down low drying and I'll test it Sunday evening.
