PeeJay's Perpetual Organic Homebrewed Soil - Stealth Cabinet And Greenhouse Grow

Thank's PeeJay.I will have to dig threw and see if I have any pic's after the helmet was off.

She did make it tho,but she was just for germ practice.

Thanks for the picture, Jimmy :thumb:

In a situation like your picture, I saw and have tried hitting the helmet with a couple of bursts of mist from a spray bottle at close range. It did a great job of loosening the seed jacket. That BAR special WP1 was in a different state than yours with the cotyledons already out and the membrane looked gone but it was hiding. I really thought it was going to just drop off easily from where it was or I would've give in a couple of blasts. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20.

Hey Jimmy, do you remember by any chance how deep you planted that seed?

I don't know exactly,but I remember second guessing myself,saying go deeper.lol
Here she is right before she went in.You can't really tell the hole size but I don't thing it was deep enough.Last one PeeJay.
Also I had never heard about spraying them.Good to know.I am sure it will come in handy one day,but for now I will stick with cloning.

lol, Jimmy. I have no problem with folks posting pics in my journal- especially when they are so relevant to the topic. If you were posting a bunch of pictures from your trip to Branson, MO, or your new puppy it might irk me. You wouldn't do that. You're much too considerate and polite!

When I got home opened the veg chamber expecting to find a corpse... Nope :)

It was right before lights out when I discovered the seriousness of the problem last night and WP1 looked MUCH worse than this. The first leaf set has doubled in size today. It was left under the 2-3" lights, too. That pretty much seals it for me that being that close to the lights does not stress the seedling in any way.

Notice the fungus bloom I mentioned yesterday, too.

Have you sampled yours yet Backpackin'? It has become much more fragrant in the last week. It smells strongly of turpenine - pine, resin, fuel - reminds me of cleaning paint brushes as a kid. I don't know if people still use turpentine for that anymore...

So sorry man I must have missed this! Mine definitely had a strong type of fuel smell and it was super sticky and smooth. I ran out of it last week and have been smoking different buds since then and I cant really recall exactly what the taste was, but maby once you post up a smoke report of yours it will jingle my memory!

Set the seedings out in the greenhouse. The three tiny ones got their first ever watering at four days old. The OG got moved into a new pot. Family photo.

WP1 who struggled with her seed jacket has hardly stretched at all - maybe 1/3 inch out of the soil. This is the one that has been 2-3" inches under the light since the seed went into the soil.

WP2 was the last to break ground and is about 9 hours behind the Sage n' Sour and 4 behind WP1. This is the one 6-7 inches under the light. It has stretched far more than WP1 - not a fair comparison, maybe, due to WP1's struggle out of the gate. She is taller than the S n' S already by about half an inch.

Sage n' Sour grew vertically quickly the first day 2-3" inches under the light, and then got to a point where it stopped and just started making leaves - been the same basic height out of the soil for the last three.

The OG is fifteen days old. it is only 3.5 inches tall. She is putting out the 5th node, there is branching going on at the lower nodes, and she measures a little more than 6.5 inches across on the two diagonals. I moved her into a 3qt pot with the higher nitrogen amended soil. She has access to stronger soil as her roots grow now. I was careful not to bury any stem whilst re-potting. I was going to get a picture of the root mass, but I like to re-pot while the soil is fairly dry. Things were threatening to fall apart. Screw the picture, I decided to transplant quickly instead. The roots went clear to the bottom of the pot on all four sides, were snowy white and
was not yet pot bound. They looked quite healthy.

As soon as I was done with the chores and pictures everyone went back into the veg-box inside.

That's the way to grow the herb, PeeJay!

Darkstar be gorgeous - spectacular trich production!

Thanks Graytail! I learned a lot on the first grow and that was all good smoke. This Darkstar plant is going to be a few rungs higher on the quality ladder. This strain has a reputation for being a tad slow to fatten up the first five-six weeks of flower and then exploding the last couple of weeks :)

It has been a pleasure not having to worry about what and how much to feed it in the new soil. I just water it ever four days or so and put it out in the greenhouse if I feel like it and it's convenient.

That's what I do also. I prepare the soil with about everything it needs and let it sit for a week before potting plants. I do this with all container plants, not just Canna. PeeJay, I said in other posts I want to move my autos out into the greenhouse soon. I have them on 18/6 inside under the CFLs. They are flowering now. Do you think putting them out will ruin my bloom?
