PCaddict's Second Grow Featuring Budget LED, Growing Amnesia Fast & Sweet Tooth

The G-series laptops are a bit more expensive than the ones I was looking at. I’m thinking about doing an ASUS Tuf 17.3”. It’s AMD Ryzen 5 3550H CPU and Radeon RX560x GPU. They have an Nvidia GeForce equivalent build, but the amd series are built to military grade durability specs. I’m not trying to play anything crazy, just wow and Starcraft. The AMD build is $800 the Intel build is $890 and only 15.6”
That would be a Great laptop. I Love ASUS, They are one of the top brands and you can get A Lot more for your money over Alienware. I don't like when they make things so hard to work on and Dell is notorious for making laptops that you have to take completely apart just to change the hard drive and RAM etc. I am REALLY glad you are looking at the AMD CPU and Graphics. You get a lot more for your money when you go with one of the Laptops with and Ryzen CPUs They are kicking Intel's butt right now. The specs you listed sound great for the games you are playing. If you get one join me in some Mech Warrior On line or MWO for short. It is free to play. You are in these Big robots and battle each other. I get stuck on the game when I play. With all this drama going on I just have been Dis-hearted and I haven't spent the same amount of time on the mag, I have been playing MWO instead. I would Love it if some of you would join me..... Let me know if anyone is interested

Its funny to me because I am not even in Docs soil this round. I am in LOS instead but the Brix Group has been helpful and I haven't gotten the first comment about doing a Non DBHBB from the group good or bad. I am really interested in how LOS compares to DBHBB. I will see on this grow. Man I think those 6 gel caps I just took is starting to kick in. Back to MWO.... :surf:

Hey PC, I’ve got another computer question for you. The Asus Tuf gaming laptop I bought is this model ->FX705DY

I’ve watched a few review videos and they say that it has an empty M2 SSD slot. The reviews also say that adding a solid state drive adds a ton to the performance of regular tasks. Could you suggest an M2 SSD that I can buy to install in my new laptop?

You all should see one of the relics I 've got here. (I'm sort of a collector, much to the displeasure of Mrs. Grand Daddy.)

It's an IBM PC/AT, circa 1984. It runs at 6 Mghz. I can fire it up, go make a pot of coffee and come back to find it still chugging along trying to boot! But it still works. Would be a great machine for a sloth. :Rasta:

PM sent.
For anyone considering a computer with and M.2 slot. They make the Biggest noticeable difference in speed and response time when doing any task on a computer. They will NOT make up for poor graphics, That is the onboard or discreet Graphics Processor or GPU for short. You will not need much graphics power innless you are playing games, Video editing etc. Speed also comes from the CPU so if you have a good quad core with hyper threading or more cores with hyper threading along with a higher clock speed , anything from 3.0 to 5.0 Ghz. during boost is good , For games the higher the clock speed the better.
I prefer a Desktop over a Laptop. If you are in classes or work with a computer and need something for meetings a Laptop is good but for any other reason a Desktop is MUCH better them a Laptop. If you don't go to class or meetings a desktop just makes more since. They are A LOT more powerful and do not heat up as much so they will last longer. If you use the computer around the same place or spot every day a desktop just makes A Lot more since. You can also change out components on a Desktop. It is either impossible or Much harder to work on a laptop and upgrade components. I hope this is helpful for anyone considering a new computer.

You’re already on the mag 24/7 Penny, you really need another device for 420mag access?

thanks for the reply PC! I do a lot of late night gaming in bed with a lap table. That’s part of the reason I really needed a laptop. The other thing is that I like to take it to friends house’s for LAN parties(when we’re not in quarantine). And I’ve had really really bad experiences with my desktop getting jostled on the car ride and losing components. (My GPU got totally mangled once, i don’t know how)

the laptop I’ve chosen, as you know, is one of the more upgradable ones. So when the time comes to add some new components it’ll be a cinch to get the computer open and the hardware installed.

I am over here researching computers. Thanks @PCaddict lol.

I hope everyone involved in this thread is well and healthy during this messed up time!

Thanks Budget! I hope all of your employees and their families are well and warm. That goes for everyone still prowling around this thread as it inches slowly towards the action.

I am sorry if that came across harsh about desktops over laptops, That wasn't directed at you I was just making a comparison. I really Love the Laptop you choose and if you use it while lying in bed playing games I totally get that. I have been thinking about getting something they call a lapdog which is something you use on a couch or in bed and it holds a keyboard and has an area to use a mouse they just have to be wireless of course. I want to get one so I can use my computer in bed too. I have a Nice little ITX build I did that is Really small. As small as an X box but it has an Ryzen 2700x 8 core CPU 32gb 3200mhz. ram an 1tb Samsung 970evo M.2 SSD and a RX580 8gb. GPU so it would play some games on my 50inch OLED LG TV.

I see you have done some Lan parties, That's Great are you planning on going to some in the future ? When will you get your new computer ? Let me know when you do. I just let my buddy take one of my gaming rigs. It was an X79 Intel build I did. It has an 3930k CPU , 32gb Ram , an RX580 8gb GPU , In a Brand new Corsair Storm Trooper case with a new Corsair RM 850watt Snow edition PSU all new fans Corsair 140mm and it is water cooled with a Corsair AIO. It turned out to be a good clean build. I had the CPU running at 4.8ghz. when I had it custom water cooled but set it back to stock speed when I put it in the new case with the AIO. They are going to pay me a little each month until they have it paid off.

Delivery says Friday, but it’s being delivered to my local USPS via amazon delivery partner, so it could show up tomorrow. It only started 4 hours from my house. Shit I would’ve taken a road trip to pick it up on Tuesday had I had the option.

Nah PC, didn’t sound harsh. I’m right there with you. Not only can you get faster components, your money goes a lot farther with a desktop build.. but i really really want the portability. I considered going for a desktop with wireless mouse and keyboard then just playing on my 65” Vizio, but I often like to have something on the tv in the background while I’m questing or whatever.

I'll keep checking in to see if ya'll start talking in English again. I haven't understood a thing in a couple days.

I'm of an age that we would hurry home from school so we could get in a game of football, baseball, or hockey before supper. I used to go fishing with my dad all the time. And I played Little League baseball. I think Pong was all the rage when I was in my later teens.

What I know about computers is not very much. I know to stay off porn sites. I know how to delete my temporary internet files. And I can right click to copy. Other then that I ask for help.
